Customer Reviews

No good! Abnormal screw that is awkward. THIS PRODUCT CAN NOT BE RETURNED! Yikes! This product is odd. The screw that comes attached, that keeps the flash secured to the mount is abnormally long and bulky. After purchasing this product, I learned that there is no refund policy. I even emailed the company directly and they said ""I'm sorry to hear our product was not as expected. Unfortunately all of our brackets will appear as shown."Very disappointing... I went ahead and ordered another brand. I have attached a photo to make this clear. 1Must have back up equipment works fine with Canon Speedlites These are nice little Hot Shoe Flash Bracket adapters - I have three light stands that have a standard screw set so these things come in handy when you lose one or need to add another. They also allow you to attach your flash units to standard tripods that have the standard 1/4 inch screw. There is not a whole lot to say about the Hot shoe adapters other than they work. They are metal so be careful when you are attaching your flash units to them, you do not want to cause damage to the actual mount from the flash and so far my Canon 600s, my 430 ex2 and my Yonguno (sp) flashes have all worked fine sitting on these bracket adapters.Overall fine product ! 5The crashing of $600 speedlights is a hard sound to hear I guess you get what you pay for, and these are definitely cheap. They lasted exactly two hours before they fell apart. With four $600 flashes attached on lightstands at a wedding, this was an expensive mistake for me to make. Plus was super embarrassing to have four fall apart at various points of the same weddings. Lesson learned. 1Falls apart when you open the jaws Most of the cold shoe adapters like this one have knobs that are so small and so close to the body that they are difficult to tighten or un-tighten. So I was glad to find these, where the knob is on a shaft that positions the knob far enough away from the body to grasp easily. Unfortunately, the threaded portion of the shaft is so short that when un-tightening the screw to remove a flash from the cold shoe, the screw; a side piece, and two little springs come loose and fall off the adapter. I can't live with the risk that, in the middle of a shoot, when mounting or dismounting flash units, my cold shoe adapters will come apart. At the same time as buying these, I also bought a Sofoto brand set of equivalent adapters (Amazon ASIN: B072BB2QDJ) that also have the knobs on long shafts, but that do not fall apart when the jaws of the cold shoe are open enough to insert or remove a flash. So I will be using those from now on. 1It's hard to mount your flash on this thing The big problem with these mounts is that they are too thick. Most hot-shoe mounts have fairly thin sheet metal (perhaps 0.5mm thick) to grip the flash. These ones are much thicker, and that means you can't use the clamp on your flash to lock it into the shoe. Instead you have to use the thumbscrew. The thumbscrew works (at least when the shoe is brand-new) but it's really annoying that they couldn't manage to match the dimensions that have been standard for literally decades. I have three different brands of flash, and two of the three are difficult to force into this shoe even when the thumbscrew is loose. 3Ok to use on floor, not recommended for use on stands. The inner edges of plastic that hold the flash break off easily. I wouldn't recommend screwing them onto the tops of light stands, one slight move could cause the flash to break out of the holder. Better to keep these flash brackets on the floor or table. 3Cheap quality I bought one set of these to use with my Yongnuo flashes for real estate photography. The part where they attach to the flash is very thin and breaks off easily. I have gone through 3 of the 5 on ONE flash, where the other two are still using the original flash stands that came with the flashes. The only reason I had to replace one of the original foots is because I knocked it off the top of a door and it fell 7 feet to the floor and broke. These were to replace that foot. These are of bad quality and don't last. This last foot to break was just taking the flash out of the camera bag. The foot got caught on part of the cover of the bag, and broke. Part of the reason is also because the flash foot is really big. 1Great quality, sturdy fitment Solid metal construction and smooth threads ensure hassle free attaching. Very nice quality to ensure that your flash and/or accessories remain in place without worry. Great fit, nice and sturdy. Not a whole lot to say; they simply work and don't feel cheap at all. 5Garbage unless you want to re-work them. The 1/4-20 thru tapped holes were packed full of machining chips. After you blow the holes out with compressed air, you will find they are undersized due to the coating applied and can't be used. The assemblies are not de-burred and will make you bleed. I give them one star only because they have a decent thumb screw even though it is plastic. If you want to try these, make sure you have a tap and file on hand and lube the clamp screw so it will move freely. Just rediculous and waste of one's time. The clamp on the far right in the picture is one I re-tapped. Good luck! 1Secure way to mount flash off camera in a hot shoe mount These hot shoes are great for mounting flash units off camera because they are robust, and use an Arca Swiss like clamping device to hold the flash int the shoe helped with the heavy duty screw tightener. Your flash unit will be much safer than it would be putting it in a normal hot shoe without any other protection against falling out of the shoe. Excellent and inexpensive way to protect your equipment. 5
