Customer Reviews

Amazing drives for the price To explain my 5 star rating: I use these for client workstation builds. Machines used mostly for web browsing, emailing, spreadsheets, etc. I've also used several as the boot drive in HTPC units. These are not the fastest SSDs around, particularly on write speed. But when you consider that they are priced lower than a new 2.5" mechanical drive, they are amazing. I can stick one of these in a J1900 or N2807 box and get a better/faster end user experience than I would with an I5 system with a mechanical drive. So the budget and performance makes these drives a 5 star item.I would NOT use these in a video editing rig, though the size alone would rule that out. 5Cheap, fast and big enough for what I need. I needed a Windows computer to help a good friend so I resurrected an old laptop that had sat on a shelf for several years. The original hard drive was so slow that the thing took 36 hours to run Windows Update. I copied that drive to this one, using dd on a Mac, and the next Windows Update run took less than 30 minutes. That old thing is actually usable now!I have no idea about longevity and as seldom as I use this laptop I won't be running through a lot of power cycles but so far I'm very impressed. 5Great upgrade for older laptop/netbook. I used this to revitalize an older netbook. It came with WindowsXP and a noisy, power-draining hard drive. I swapped in this and installed Lubuntu - hardware install was plug and play, and Linux installed with no complaints. Battery life is extended somewhat and the boot up is faster. Been using it for a couple of weeks so far. 4Great option for the price Was skeptical at first given that it's not a brand I've purchased before, but I'm only using the drive to host the OS and apps for my home server. Been running for about 6 weeks so far, working flawlessly. Great option for the price point 5Once you go SSD you'll never go back. The speed boost is amazing. Windows used to take forever to restart. I did a time check on Windows. With a hard drive, it took nearly 7 minutes to go from power off to ready to go at the desktop. After installing this SSD, Windows now takes roughly 30 seconds to accomplish the same goal.Using some clever modifications to Windows, I've managed to keep the 1TB HDD in my dell PC, along side the SSD. Most people just store data on the HDD and everything else on the SSD. I've modified Windows enough via symlinks and registry edits to point Program Files, Program Files (x86), Common Files, and the Users directories to the HDD. They are symbolically linked to the SSD, thus "tricking" Windows and any other program into think that they still exist on the C:\ drive, when in reality they are on the 1TB D:\ drive. This modification to Windows has not lead to any kind of a noticeable performance hit. 4Cheap product, sub-par performance after two months After two months of owning this SSD, it started to give me inconsistent load times and the dreaded pinwheel of death on my macbook pro when launching apps. I guess I shouldn't have expected more from a product that costs just a little bit north of $20. Nevertheless, I replaced it last night with another, more recognizable brand of SSD and my laptop is fast again. No, I don't recommend purchasing this product even at this price point. 1Good for the price Inexpensive for what it is, but also really slow for an SSD. The sequential write speed at 89 MB/s is actually slower than your typical 5400 RPM HDD, which is really bad for an SSD. But it was only $33 shipped so I can't complain too much. It's still significantly faster than an HDD at random read/writes, which is what I needed to upgrade my old crappy Lenovo Thinkpad to make it actually usable. 4This Drive actually get 4.5 stars. I was testing the limits of a 200 budget build but I really wanted an SSD to boot from and this did the job. It may not be the fastest but it is noticeably faster than a disc drive and that's what I wanted to get from this budget drive. I got what I paid for and I didn't pay very much. My experimental build is now a 220.00 build but that's OK. Close enough. Furthermore @ 64 GBs and after OS, there is still more than enough room for some music/photos/documents, some non game software. I even loaded steam & origin on this drive. The games are on another. I reserve 5 stars for being surprised by above expectations. This drive came close. I have now had the drive for 2 months. Still works fine. 4Easy install on a Dell Optiplex390 SFF i3 computer with ... Easy install on a Dell Optiplex390 SFF i3 computer with 4GB of RAM hooked up to my TV through HDMI. I installed Ubuntu 17.10 as my O/S and it takes 2-3 seconds to boot past the BIOS POST. Downloads 4k 2160p 60FPS youtube HD videos and processes without any lag time (obviously bandwidth is a contributing factor).A simple SSD can revive many older computers. I love the technology! 5Use it for Steam and the game I m currently playing ... Use it for Steam and the game I m currently playing. Load times for Fallout 4 are half the normal time. Totally worth it if you want a inexpensive way to speed up load times for your games. 5
