Description

  • Bank-Grade Security that is Simple: KeepKey is the most secure bitcoin wallet available. It makes best-practice bitcoin security easy so that even your grandmother can protect her bitcoin wealth.
  • Backup and Recovery: During initialization, you are given the one-time opportunity to write down a backup of your KeepKey in the form of a twelve-word recovery sentence. If your KeepKey is lost or stolen, you can safely recover your device and its bitcoins without compromising the security of your private keys.
  • Virus and Malware Proof: Because KeepKey does not have an operating system, the layers that viruses, malware, and key loggers infect do not exist on the device. Using KeepKey gives you confidence that hackers can't get to your bitcoins.
  • Multi-Currency Support: KeepKey not only supports Bitcoin, but also Ethereum, Litecoin, Namecoin, Dogecoin, Dash, and Testnet.
  • Works on PC, Mac, Linux, and Android: KeepKey is a USB HID-class device. That means, like a typical mouse or keyboard, drivers are not required. Plug in the provided premium USB cable, and your device just works: immediately giving you the highest level of bitcoin security.

Customer Reviews

Great for BTC, LTC and ETH - nothing else with native support. Sad. I used to use my KeepKey all the time, and it was great. Here's the skinny:If you trade / store in only BTC, LTC or Ethereum I would recommend the KeepKey without reservation. It's awesome.Problem is, I also store Monero, VEE, and Ripple. KeepKey does not support these coins, and doesn't appear to be heading in that direction.Sad to say, I've emptied my KeepKey and it now gathers dust. 3Great value would recommend just over 4 stars I would rate this item just over 4 starts for reasons I will explain below. Overall I'm glad I purchased this wallet. It was very easy to setup and I didn't have any problems getting it to work on my macbook. The google chrome extension makes connecting to the keepkey with ease and the total install/set up took around 15 mins which included a software update from keepkey. It allowed me to make several different bitcoin wallets I was able to consolidate all my wallets into a single location including dogecoins and litecoins. Hoping it will allow for monero and ethereum in the near future. The USB 2.0 cable that came with the unit is terrible. I thought my wallet had a short at the connection since it was consistently loosing connection with my computer. I swapped the cable out and it fixed the connection issue. I would also recommend buying a screen protector since the screen scratches easier then any device I've ever owned. I bought an iPhone screen protector and cut it to fit the keep key screen. I would recommend doing this before using the keepkey at. Excited to see what updates become available for this device and hopefully in the near future. there is a video of someone connecting the keepkey to their mobile device so hopefully this becomes available for the average user and hopefully it will work on additional devices like the iPhone. Well worth the investment knowing that my coins are save and not being stored on an exchange site which could shut down any day. I rated the keepkey just above 4 starts because it is very fragile. I would still recommend the keepkey to others. 5KeepKey delivers on all fronts: my favorite hardware wallet As a longtime bitcoin enthusiast, KeepKey first caught my attention in 2016 after I heard about some of its unique features on a bitcoin-related podcast. I didn't consider buying one at the time as I already owned a Trezor and I assumed KeepKey would be redundant and unnecessary. That assumption turned out to be wrong.Fast forward to today and KeepKey is now my favorite hardware wallet, hands down. I would recommend KeepKey to both new and advanced users alike. The KeepKey Client currently supports bitcoin, litecoin, dogecoin, ethereum, and dash. All of your accounts are visible in an intuitive, user-friendly interface, and for each coin you can create as many accounts as you wish. What separates KeepKey from Trezor is not only the lineup of alt-coins it supports, but the built-in ShapeShift integration which allows you to exchange/trade coin pairings within the app itself. This streamlined process allows you to effortlessly shift between coins with confidence, knowing your KeepKey secures your funds on both ends of the transaction.More PROS:--the device is sturdy and robust; large enough that you won't forget it's in your pocket.--KeepKey has a larger display screen with a more readable font (as compared to trezor's smaller screen and little font that can be difficult to read).--KeepKey looks sharp. It has a sleek design; yet it's inconspicuous from the layman's point of view (resembles a new external hard drive).--simplicity of navigating the user interface makes it a great device for beginners; the multitude of features available makes it a great device for advanced users.CONS:--the KeepKey launcher extension should be included with KeepKey client app, so users only have one item to download.--BTC balance should also show the USD equivalent, so the present value of one's holdings is clear.--cannot remove old accounts from view.In my opinion, KeepKey is the best hardware wallet on the market to date. It has something for everyone. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for a tech-challenged baby-boomer parent who wants to buy and hold, then secure and forget. Nor would I hesitate to buy one for a tech-savvy friend who holds several different alt-coins and trades them frequently.KeepKey is a steal at $99 and offers tremendous value at that price point. Get yours while you still can. You'll be happy you did! 5Buy two Trezors and be set for life. Buy this if you want to panic and waste time. The device came sealed in plastic and with a security seal. At first it looked a little fishy to me as it didn't appear the same as an unboxing video on YouTube, but after further research I noticed it is the same type of box on other videos. The directions for using it was easy and the website guides you through the setup. My KeepKey required a firmware update, which was quick to install. I have yet to load any cryptocurrencies on it yet but I plan to soon. I emailed support in regards to buying this from a third party seller "Dragon Plus Commerce", which isn't listed as an official supplier, and have questions about any possible vulnerabilities. I reset/formatted my KeepKey and generated a new set of words. I highly suggest everyone does this with their "brand new" KeepKey regardless. I think all the people who are giving bad reviews are probably doing so because they have poor security practices when it comes to handling their cryptocurrency. Remember, if someone gets hold of your set of words then your money is good as gone. You have been warned! I will give this 5 stars when I verify all is secure and good to go!Update April 27, 2018. I have sent and received Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin with this KeepKey. It works easily and is a great way to keep your private key private versus vulnerable online with a website. Five stars.Update May 5, 2018. I want to love this device I do, but when the device/chrome extension have issues which cause a perpetual "loading accounts" screen then it's time to ditch it. More importantly is the lack of support and to that I mean software updates and proactive effort. KeepKey seems to be more in a reaction position than anything else. I had difficulty moving funds as well due to legacy issues with Litecoin as well as hangups with Ethereum. Compare this to Trezor, where the legacy litecoin address was not only identified by information was given on how to fix the problem. And the great intergration with MyEtherWallet and Trezor. Thank goodness that cryptocurrency in general is very secure and the design of it allowed me to put my KeepKey seed words in my Trezor and move the finds from there. It is no surprise that you can now get a KeepKey for $40 where now Trezors are going up to $99 and up. I have confidence in Trezor and so much so I bought another one. Keep in mind these hardware wallets simply take your seed words and use them to generate your private keys, they never have "secret/backdoor" access to the company of KeepKey, Trezor or Ledger. You can also do this via paper wallets but less secure for obvious reasons. 2This is WAY better than the Trezor. This is WAY better than the Trezor. The screen is large and readable, the Chrome plugin is nicer, the recovery process is very clever and more secure because you don't have to enter passwords on the computer. Works great with Multibit HD. Very easy to set up and use.If you want the tiniest bitcoin wallet for carrying in your pocket, maybe get the Trezor. But the KeepKey is more reliable, better designed, and easier to use. 5Lacks some basic features, no updates. The product lacks some really essential functions. I would say primarily lack of countervalue. Countervalue is your worth being shown in a USD (or other fiat) currency. If you have .938340 bitcoin, and 1.38473 etherum and 7.3473 litecoin, you have no idea how much you have... You have to figure it out by going to some conversion site. You also can't export your public key easily (xpb) which would allow you to see your balances on your phone live. There hasn't been an update to the chrome app in a year so there isn't much support. Doesn't also support many currencies.Ease of use is great however. Unlike the popular Ledger Nano S, you don't have to go from app to app within the dongle to see how much you have, everything is in one place and it makes it easier to have from place to another. It's built very well... I like it's usability, but I don't think I'll be keeping this one.Update - I returned this product because the lack of functionality on the software. I would have kept it (and preferred it) if the sotware was better designed, but it lacked in functionality pretty bad. 3Horrible system, just hangs! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM KEEPKEY!!! This product sounds nice in concept, but in use it really is terrible. Takes your BTC immediately, yet when transferring BTC to other accounts the KeepKey App just hangs.....nothing happens. Additionally, tech support is the absolute worst, when this products fails to function tech support gives scripted garbage for answers, only upon weeks of complaints on both Facebook and emails directly to KeepKey did they respond with apology and more pre-scripted garbage for solutions that we already tried, apparently they can't listen to what customers are saying is the problem. In researching online found multiple complaints on same issue of hanging KeepKey App, even with recommended firmware and app updates the KeepKep just hangs. Recovered approximately $1,100 using EXODUS with my recovery sentence, and returning to AMAZON for FULL REFUND......My advice, STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM KEEPKEY!!! 1True security for bitcoin. You really should worry about storing you crypto-currency at a third party, i.e. any online wallet, or a wallet on your connected laptop or device. The KeyKeep is the perfect solution, a secure hardware wallet for your bitcoin. The product is well made, robust, and works flawlessly. The "leather" slip-case that ships with it, btw, is not for the device. It is the place you store the card onto which you must write the secure phrase that you are give when the device is initialized. Write it down by hand, out of sight of cameras of any kind, and find a secure place to store it. This security phrase is essential for you to recover the coins on your KeyKeep if you loose it or it is stolen. You will almost certainly be asked to update the software on the device immediately. You should do all firmware updates as they become available.I have a few constructive comments, but I will limit myself to one just now. I understand that integration with other wallets may be helpful, I don't care, but it would be nice if you could plug the device into your smartphone or tablet so that you may use it on the go.Install the simple application in the Chrome browser, the installed app will be on the right side of your browser address toolbar. The wallet is very simple and easy to operate. Appropriate links take you to a variety of block chain and bitcoin services. 5Cold storage security but it's from a company with horrific customer service. *******EDIT: 24, August 2017******I no longer recommend this hardware wallet to anyone. Since the bitcoin chain forked and created BCH, KeepKey has still yet to implement support for it. Every customer asking about it gets the same generic response and there is no timeline of actual development releases. I as well as other keepkey owners expected the takeover from Shapeshift to speed things up (WRONG!). It's completely apparent that this company doesn't care for its own customers but rather ignores them. I'm under the impression that the company has a single intern or something working on their software because 24 days after the fork and we still can't access out BCH, we just get to watch the value deteriorate while its stuck in the keepkey. I suggest ANYONE who reads this to chose another hardware wallet (Trezor, Ledger, etc..) Their devices are much more developed, they can write code for their own devices without issue and support way more currencies. Don't buy this garbage, it just shows how updates (or lack of) will be at future points in time. With such little trust in the crypto game, it'd be a mistake to get this from a company that can't be trusted to respond to customers' questions and just plain can't deliver on the software end. From 5 stars to 1 star.******ORIGINAL REVIEW******Excellent price for the sense of security it provides you! With the recent increase in BTC value I feel way safer having removed my BTC from sitting in a web based wallet. Also, with firmware updates, support for alts and multi OSes this is a no-brainer. I was between this one and the Trezor, had no desire for the Ledger. I'm very happy with the choice I made.Pros:- Simple and straightforward- Ability to recover your funds so long as you write down your recovery phrases (DO IT!!)- Multi OS support- Support for altcoins- Powered by a micro USB adapter; I like that fact that it's not "flash drive style" (e.g. it's not USB male plugged directly into the PC). I'd be afraid of easily breaking something like that.Cons:- Not really a con because I use it, but you do have to use Chrome as your browser for this as it uses a simple extension to launch its GUI.- Nothing else, if you can't decide on a cold storage wallet trust me when I say this is the one.Blessings, keep on bag-holding! 1Simple, Stable, Safe This device is totally turnkey. Plug it in, update it, initialize it, and use it. Using with no issues across a PC and a MAC. Not much to it, but that is the beauty and elegance of it. I would be interested in an Android + OTG cable solution for portable use.UPDATE: The USB cable that comes with this is pretty nice - fabric covered. Mine went bad, and they quickly sent me two replacements via FedEx. So their support seems very responsive as well. 5
