Customer Reviews

Works fine for doorsIt works with my Simon XT, but i was honestly surprised at how incredibly HUGE this thing is.The transmitter is the size of a grown man's thumb. Works fine for doors, but i wanted it for a window - ended up having to move another sensor to the window so i could put this on a door. 3Partially defectiveThe item arrived in a product box that was pretty badly damaged (more from age than abuse), the factory seal on the box was broken although the item appeared to be physically okay. The battery was already installed and the plastic strip that prevents the battery from making contact was missing (meaning the unit was powered up, and who knows for how long). The reed switch functionality of the unit worked but the external contacts would not work. I returned it. 1NO SKILLS NEEDED SIMPLE FIX. COMES WITH INSTRUCTIONSGreat sensors I used one to replace a bad sensor on my Vivint security system. It took about 20 minutes and works great. Vivint charges 49.00 for a service call plus parts if the items not covered under warranty. With only home owner skills this is a great money saver for anyone. 5oversized, cluncky, and faultymuch larger than the original Simon XT sensors. This makes it impossible to use in some situations, but still works ok on windows. Trouble is the system keeps reporting sensor tampering. Have to remove battery and re-insert, then clear alarm on panel. Then the app on my phone keeps chiming to report this every 2 hours non-stop. Wonderful at night when you cant turn your phone off for potential work calls. Tried swapping batteries from other sensors, verified the battery is fine in other sensors, not battery related issue. Would not buy again, total hassle. 2Very bulkyI'm giving it a 2 because it might work fine but it is large. I was expecting it to be long and that was fine. It's for basement door but it is very thick, sticks far out. Also there's screws to hang it. All my other Interlogix products have the 3M adhesive. I'm sending this one back and getting the smaller one. 2Excellent transmission distanceI have installed one of these sensors in an aluminum shed that is approzimately 125 feet from my house. The house is concrete block/stucco, and is a barrier to cheaper sensors such as supplied with weather instruments. This sensor works perfectly at this distance. The controller is in an interior room several walls away from the exterior. Great perfomance! 5Works wellWorks great and easy to integrate once the NetworX panel is up and running. Anti-tamper feature and selectable mode are nice features. The transmitter is a bit larger than a wired sensor, but you can always install the transmitter on the door and magnet on the jamb since the unit is battery powered. 5No go with my Simon 3.New Ring or original sensors?Have a Simon 3. No matter what ... Would not program. Possible the battery is weak but this is a new unit. Going back to the original for HE Simon 3 ... OR, may just upgrade to Ring or similar. The replacement sensors for the Simon are at an outrageous price. I can buy 3 replacement sensors ... or new Ring System .... Hmmmmm 1Love it, works great!Worked like a charm with my old GE Interlogix panel, replacing an older sensor that took a smaller, more expensive battery that was harder to find and rarely fresh. This one is the same size as the one it replaced, but uses an easy-to-find 123 A battery that will probably last 10 years! It even snapped right on the old sensors base--can't get much easier than that. No more low-battery nuisance alarms! 5Internal reed switches OR terminal block, not both. This sensor is larger than the standard door sensor, but it has a larger battery and the built in terminal block. I bought 2 of these to secure 2 sets of 2 windows in 2 different rooms. Since the windows are side-by-side I did not want to buy 2 wireless sensors per window-group, but instead buy just one per room and connect a wired sensor to the adjacent window in each room. My original idea was to use the internal reed switch for one window and an external wired sensor for the other. I found that this cannot be done! There is a jumper inside the unit. Jump pins 1-2 for the side reed switch, jump pins 2-3 for the top reed switch, and pull the jumper off altogether for the wiring block. I ended up pulling the jumper off, then wiring 2 external contacts in series to go to each window. A terminating resistor is needed for the external connection which was thankfully provided. Screws are also provided, but you will have to provide your own double-sided tape if you prefer mounting it that way. 5
