Customer Reviews

Excellent! Glad I went with InstaPure! I was comparison shopping for some faucet mounted filters and chose this one. I figured, what the heck, if it doesn't work, I won't be down an insufferable amount of money. It took less than 5 minutes to install and works like a charm! Water tastes amazing. You really can tell the difference. Only think I switched was using my original rubber washer/o-ring for the ones they provided. It just gave me a better seal. No leaks and no problems. Very happy with this filter and don't foresee any problems to come! As a previous reviewer stated, yes it is plastic, but you can't really tell and it still matches my chrome faucet. 5Better than Culligan brand I have used Culligan faucet filter before in my master bathroom sink simply because I like to wash my face and teeth with clean water. Culligan brand broke down on me a few days later not mentioning that it kept leaking all the time. This one was MUCH easier to install BUT you really have to play around the rubber rings. For example in the instructions it asks you o insert the black small one on the faucet and big black one on the filter. I did it and my faucet was leaking. Then I switched to the red rubber circle and the leaking stopped once and for all! Water smells and tasted great! Make sure you do not run HOT water though because super hot water ruins the unit. I use warm water all the time just not turning on the hot water only. For $11 I also bought 4 replacement cartridges which along with the one that came with the unit should last me over a year because they recommend to change filter either after 200 gallons or 3 months of using. And since I do not use the sink water every hour -more like 3-4 times a day I think I will stick to the 3 month changing routine. 5Economical and durable. I have used these filters for years in different locations. Buying replacement filters in 4 packs is a great saving over single package filters.Activated carbon charcoal filter elements effectively removes chlorine and chlorine compounds and other organic odors / tastes (such as algae).I go by the taste / smell of the water to determine when to replace the filter instead the rated filter capacity because the life varies with the quality of the water supply. These filters do not remove dissolved inorganic compounds such as salt, calcium and magnesium compounds (primary constituents of hard water), etc. 5How water should taste I don't remember what water used to taste like. When I was a kid, the town starting putting so much chemicals in the water that I would start having allergic reactions to it: hives and rashes! I couldn't drink it and my clothes couldn't be washed in it. After enough complaints the town dialed back in chemicals but I know water never tasted the same. When the water on the fridge broke I had to buy water in the bottle which just got too expensive so I got this filter for everyone. My mom said, "Wow! This tastes just like it used to when I was growing up." My grandma cried, gave me a big hug and said, "You just don't know what this means to me to have this. I was so sick of this nasty water and having to boil it all the time just to drink it." So, while I don't remember what good water used to taste like, I have to believe that what is coming out of this filter is good water. I personally hate water. I could only drink Deer Park water. I've stopped buying Deer Park and I drink from the filter now. It's the only water I don't hate now. It's not too hard to assemble and all you need to do so is in the box. It's relatively cheap to buy filters. I go to Lowes and get a 4 pack for $17 and it can last up to a whole year. Cheap! Cheap! It did start to leak once but I just jiggled it around and retightened. The leaking stopped. 5Works as advertised! Works as advertised like its predecessor (same model and make which lasted something like 30 years before the plastic faucet bits catastrophically failed--they just disintegrated one day into a cup of water I was filling) before it. It was a trivial thing to install to replace the old one and took a grand total of fifteen minutes, tops. No complaints whatsoever. 5Installed relatively easily. InstaPure gets points for simplicity of filter installation ... Installed relatively easily. InstaPure gets points for simplicity of filter installation and the secure faucet mounting -- both things that I have found to be lacking in the Culligan and Brita filters I previously tried. The InstaPure also has the fastest filtered water output of any faucet-mounted filter I've tried.Unfortunately, this unit just does not deliver very good water. I can tell no difference in taste or clarity between the filtered water from the InstaPure and the municipal water coming straight out of the faucet. This is probably due in part to the number of things this particular filter allows to pass through. This is an "essentials" filter which means that it is not designed to do the heavy-duty filtering of some other units like Culligan and Pur.I have found the Culligan faucet-mounted filter to be the best option overall. The Culligan does not have as secure of a mount to the faucet, and the filters are harder to remove, but the water it produces is simply without rival. 3Makes my tap water bottle worthy I wasn't sure what to expect from this unit because I'd never heard of the brand before. However, I've been very pleased with it's performance. Assembly was a breeze, and I had it mounted and purifying water within 10 minutes. Although every part of the unit is plastic, at first glance you would think it was a much more expensive brand. I haven't had any problems with leaking or bad tasting water. If I have one complaint it would be that there isn't an indicator on it to let you know when the filter needs to be changed. I tend to wing this even when I have an indicator so that wasn't a big deal for me. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to someone that wanted the clean, fresh taste of water instead of whatever chemicals they drop in our drinking water these days. 5Not filtered water This is the second time I buy a filter from Instapure. My first filter worked fine. I bought a new one because I restyled my kitchen. This second filter worked fine for a few months and, as you can see from the pictures, the water always comes out from the two holes, filter and running water. I wrote to the Instapure Customer Service and they gave me some possible solutions but none of them worked out. 1Significantly improves taste of water We're very happy with this filter. We use it on the kitchen faucet for our drinking water and we noticed a major difference in the taste of the water right away. My husband installed it quickly and easily. I told him about the reviews that said it leaked and he used waterproof tape to shore it up. It worked perfectly and we were/are very happy with the filtering quality and ease of use.Unfortunately, the first one we purchased randomly broke and dropped off after under six months of use, and it could not be reattached. I contacted Amazon and the customer service rep I spoke to said that typically, after thirty days, I would need to contact the manufacturer, but he didn't want me to have to mess with all that. So he immediately shipped me a new unit and provided a shipping label so I could return the old one. If it breaks again I will contact the manufacturer, but this kind of thing is why I keep spending money with Amazon. 4Cheap and poor quality plastic adaptor. No success yet after repeated attempts to fix the plastic adaptor onto my kitchen tap. Water drips from the adaptor-tap joint and the whole filtration system falls off into the kitchen sink when i increased the water flow to maximum. The threads on the plastic adaptor are also wearing off. I have used up a small roll of plumbers tape (to wrap around the thread of the tap faucet before screwing on the adaptor). Will have to get a new roll of tape to try again. As a final measure, I am contemplating to apply super glue to the adaptor-tap joint.Never going to buy intsapure products again.Update May 8, 2015 : Contacted Instapure USA and they offered to send replacement plastic adaptors. They said they do not have metal adaptors. But they do not ship the adaptors outside of USA. But I am not located in US.I approached the authorised distributor for Instapure products in my local area...and they said they have metal adaptors for Instapure F2. Costs for the metal adaptor is about US6. I purchased it and now my Instapure F2 works well except for some small leaks. I wonder why they do not offer a metal adaptor in their standard package. Changed my rating to 2 stars mainly because i didnt like the inconvenience and upset encountered during the initial installation. 2
