Customer Reviews

Well, it looks serious I guessEasy to install, and relatively simple to program into an existing system, however I'm not sure it actually works very well at all. The test whereby you tap it firmly with a hammer or something to set it off generally fails to signal the alarm. I believe I only got it to trip when I shook it incredibly vigorously. Still, it was cheap, and at least it provides a visual sign that my house is alarmed. 2so far not impressedI have 19 hardwired zones, 5 wireless, 3 keypads, a code encrypter and smoke alarms all Honeywell/ademco. Everything is flawless with the exception of this sensor. It faults just about every three days. I have to bypass it, remove and reinstall the battery. Not an easy task for a skylight glassbreak. There are no trees above the skylight to drop nuts or branches on it to fault. It is a small design and maybe I just got a dud. 3Bad battery terminals on Sensors - requires bending to make good contactI got two of these with swap of a bad Motion Detector from another vendor, and bought third 5800SS1 through Amazon. When I finally installed all three, two would not work. After installing brand new batteries (and verifying old batteries were indeed good); I got one intermittently working. On inspection, I found Positive (+) terminal was not making good contact with battery. On other one that still was not working, I found Positive terminal was not touching battery at all. Bending Positive terminals on both sensors got them working. Before you install Sensors:1) Make certain your master panel is detecting them by tapping on it or by tamper (remove and replace cover).2) Make certain your master panel (in its normal mounted position) will detect each sensor in nearly exact position you will finally mount sensor. Do not skip this step. I made mistake on different type of sensors with having re-positioned panel so I could see panel change from Green to Yellow or Green to Red when testing. When panel was mounted where it belonged, two sensors failed Supervisor test, naturally at 4:30am.3) After mounting sensors re-verify your master panel detects each sensor by tapping** on it.** I do not recommend pounding on window. I have hit windows so hard as to nearly break the glass, and sensors have not triggered. 3This is probably one of the best ways to protect your window or door glass everThis is probably one of the best ways to protect your window or door glass ever, it's small and very effective, extremely few false alarms -However, it does require some minor tweaking with the battery on some models, the battery has a tendency to not fit well within the holder and causes the alarm to trigger tampers or battery issue signals ... experience installers should be able to correct this issue without much effort, however people unfamiliar with this might have an issue here rendering the device somewhat unreliable or unusable.. 5
