Customer Reviews

Useful, bright, and long-lasting. Super light! I work under houses and this is a terrific tool. It fits comfortably and produces a bright, white light. It lasts a long time, too. I haven't had to change the batteries yet. 5Comfortable and brightI like coast flashlights overall, and decided to give this a try even though the wiring made it seem "complicated."It is really bright, clear light. I use it when working and barbecuing outside or when having to retrieve things from under beds. The wiring makes it look even extra "dorky," but adds to the comfort. The heft of the flashlight in front is balanced by the weight of the batteries in the back. The result is that this is much more comfortable than headlamps with the power source and light in front - even those that weigh less, overall, than this unit.I am really happy with this product.5Strap hooks on battery pack prone to breakingI returned at least one of these for replacement under warranty (a hassle). The company must be well aware that hooks for strap on battery pack are prone to failure (break off). The one I had had one break when fairly new. A replacement failed similarly, but I kept using it knowing the pain of return (boxing up, shipping, $5.00 fee....). Now the second failed one has failed the same way on another side of the battery pack. Ready for another. Mag light became popular and secured their leadership in flashlights by making a durable product. This company could do the same. All I want is a light that goes on and off. This one does that fairly well and reliably without the multiple modes that are annoying to most anyone except a child. Battery life is not great (go through lots of AAA batteries). Will reluctantly buy another, instead of returning again. should not be made of cheap materials that break. Wire from battery back to lamp is weak link too, but having battery pack in back provides good balance on head. My head is as big as a hard hat. Once the clips break, the straps twist all around and it is a pain to untwist to get on fast.3My favorite LightLove this light. It is no nonsense push button on, push button off. No red light, no super bright, no blinking light just on and off that's what I want. I use mine to work with and it really does the job you can adjust it so where you are looking, that were the light shines. This is my second one I have a tendency to leave my stuff laying around and they have tendency to walking off, probably should have bought two.5I've had coast headlamps in the past and loved them. I purchased 2 of these lights and ...I've had coast headlamps in the past and loved them. I purchased 2 of these lights and one is defective, it wont stay on. I've looked to see if its just a loose wire somewhere, but can't find anything. Disappointed that now i have to go through the return process to coast and they want you to include $5 for shipping. Why should a customer pay to return something that should have never made it out of QC.Update: Coast made good on replacing the product at no charge. Good customer service and I'm very pleased at how they handled the defective item.4Good light for the moneyI purchased this to replace an energizer unit I had purchased several years ago. The old unit's switch was faulty and I needed another headlamp. It's bright but not too bright to work in confined spaces. It works very well and the button is easy to find with gloved fingers. I like the battery pack in the back better than in the front - it balances it out better than its competitors. Good light and would buy Coast again.53/3/17 Update: 5 stars again because Coast sent me a new replacement! Great customer service! I love this light and use it anytime I need light on a dark work area. It does exactly what it says it does and is very comfortable on my large hat size head.2/15/17 had to update this product. it worked well for quite a few months and now will not work. If I play with it long enough, it will come on, but then shuts off. very frustrating and is on my workbench waiting for the next trash day. 5The Best I Have OwnedThis is the second Coast headlamp that I have owned. I had to replace the first one I bought after several years of dependable use after I installed poor quality batteries that ate the battery compartment. This is the best headlamp that I have purchased over the years. I have owned a number of headlamps and this one has outperformed the others. The on/off switch is just that: on and off; no crazy flashing modes, no multiple dimming modes to cycle through. It is well balanced on your head with the battery pack located at the rear of the strap. I had purchased a different brand in the past that had a rechargeable battery in the lamp assemble. This configuration made the lamp heavy enough that it was uncomfortable to wear and would not stay on straight. Also, the Coast comes with brand name batteries not Thunder Power or some other unknown brand.5Always the one that I grab,.... I like this head lamp a lot,...Use it a lot and always grab it before the others,...Boat repair technician 5Bright and reliableI bought this particular light due to its over-the-head strap, bright high-lumen output, and use of conventional AA batteries. It works well and provides all the light I need for working in any dark space without worrying about how to hold a flashlight. With a simple adjustment up or down adjustment of the pivoting light tube, depending on your distance from the item you want to illuminate, the light naturally falls on the area where you are looking and it covers wide enough area to provide good peripheral vision. The over-the-top strap prevents the light or batteries from sliding down.Down sides to consider: A) The three double-A batteries add weight, compared to those which use lighter batteries but they are easy and inexpensive to replace...and last a long time. B) If I had my 'druthers, I wish it had a low-output switch or rheostat for when you don't need 175 lumens...to conserve batteries and to keep from blinding co-workers. C) Finally, red and blue LED options would make this the ultimate headlamp...for tracking blood trails or for when you want to preserve your night vision.5Excellent lamp for hard to see projects & needs.Excellent head lamp if you need a very bright light, and I do. The easy ability to R&R rechargeable batteries makes this one a dream to change batts. Stay on the head no matter how much you squirm around or bump your cap. Literally wore my last one down to the last flash after years of near daily use. The switch was the first to fail so I removed the old switch in the ancient one. I just twist the wires for on /off. It stay in the barn for emergency work lighting so no big problem.5Big fanThis is probably the least expensive version of the Coast headlamps, however, it s probably my favorite and not because of the price. I ve owned the more expensive lamps and I did not like having to scroll through 3 different brightness levels and colors and flash sequences just to turn it off. For me, the draw was the simplicity. You click it on...you click it off. You rotate it up or down to aim it at your work area and there is no focus feature. While 175 lumens is plenty bright for most tasks done in low/no light, if you re looking for a headlamp for bike riding, I d probably go with something brighter and therefore more expensive. Otherwise, this is a great headlamp.5DIY helper.I use it mainly for mechanic work. don't need fancy flashing or sos or any of the added features. Just simply bright and perfect for mechanic work or other projects where you need extra light.5
