They BUZZ when dimmed, and I have 20 of them that I can't send back. 1Five Stars I've had good luck with these, as I have used them for my clients many times. 5For those who like the gentle warm tone of incandescent bulbs For those who like the gentle warm tone of incandescent bulbs, this is the right LED product. I was looking for this, most products and vendors carry the 3000K versions, but for the eye the 2700K is more pleasant. I have to agree that the 3000K LED fixtures come closer to daylight, but if they are too close to the eye, like in a 8 ft ceiling height room, the 3000K hurt the eye. You need to experiment and ask your family / customer what they like before equipping a complete room with 3000K or 2700K LED downlights. 54" Recessed LED Retrofit w/UPB Dimmers -- my results I just completed a fairly extensive comparison shop/test of nearly a dozen different recessed LED retrofits makers (incl Lithonia, Juno, Halo, Elite, Rayon, Nora, UTI, TorchStar, Designers Fountain, LiteChoice, EnviroLight)My selection criteria were narrowed to: 4 LED retrofit units with 2700K light temperature to approximate the house-wide recessed Halogen system I have Preferred a fairly deep white baffle to approximate my Elco deep baffle trims which were removed/discarded (I kept the Elco cans throughout the home) wanted LED units that would switch on smoothly and have relatively good dimming range and smooth shutoff with my UPB system(PCS and Simply Automated/Web Mountain dimmers; for which I had a considerable time and $ pre-investment, approx 50 circuits) was entertaining square for round replacement (square is a bit more trendy these days), though limited brands offered square optionsUnfortunately I could not use Cree retrofit units others have recommended as Cree doesn t make a baffle version, at least in their 4 products.By far and away, Halo had the best units I found in my testing. They are: compact, well-made, matte finish, good price point; readily available box stores or online low wattage consumed, high CRI and excellent light quality; a bit brighter than my 50W halogens were (I adjust down the Upstart software Dim setting), still warm , but cleaner, high color rendition light Halo have not quite as deep a baffle as I d have preferred for my 9 6 ceilings, but OK depth Halo also offer nicely matched gimbal-mounted versions with 80 wide flood that work OK as wall-washers as well as a 40 narrow flood for focus areas(Lithonia had comparable products but their driver and build/finish quality was very poor) Halo offers a couple metallic snap-on reflectors (bronze tone) which I used in an exterior application Halo s best-in-class feature is their electronic driver; how smoothly they come on, a very good dimming range with my UPB dimmers (which I d sunk about 4x more $ in than the LED retrofit cost me), and VERY smooth shutoff; no one else of the other 10 makers came close I ve purchased and installed about 40 thus far on my main and upper floors from Amazon Pacific Electric Wholesale who gave me a good quantity price.I had OK results in my testing with Rayon: 3nd best on my UPB dimmers, but still don t come on as smoothly, or have quite as wide a dim range or the super-smooth shutoff that the Halo units do(UTI had #2 smooth driver, but very shallow baffle; Juno/Elite/LiteChoice had deep baffle units, but poor drivers) Very good build quality, and quality light, higher watt consumption/higher lumen output than Halo (bit more than I need); I note they use Cree drivers and say so Rayon does offer an interesting Versa-Trim feature that allows you to pick/choose a variety of trim colors and styles. I purchased a half dozen of their units with square white baffle trims that look very slick (nice style upgrade) in my hallways, but frankly they were way too pricey to put anywhere else, running 4-5x the cost of the round Halos. BeesLighting also offered no discount for the higher quantity purchase I d proposed. But again, I did buy 6 and they look fantastic off or on in my hallways; I used the round Halos much more extensivelyA neat installation trick I d recommend to folks retrofitting their recessed cans to LED is to buy male-only slide-on 18ga LED-style orange 2-conductor connectors (manufactured by Ideal under trade name PowerPlug Luminaire Disconnect; they appear to be the new standard in all LED lighting), from Arrow Electronics (part #30-682SM, you only need the Male part of each connector). If you have a wire cutter and stripper, these slide-on connectors are nearly as easy to install as the goofy screw-in Edison base adapter that comes with most retrofit LED units, but they are much neater and give you a lot more room to work inside the can, especially if you have adjustable wide or narrow flood units (or larger base units like Rayon) 5Five Stars installed and works great with a digital dimmer 5These only worked when dimmer switch was set low. ... Also tried in a normal lamp to rule out dimmer switch and it didn't work at all. 1Great Warm Lighting These lights are the right warmth if you want LED efficiency with an incandescent feel. Don't fall for the "soft white" tag line when buying lighting. Look for 2700k luminosity. That's the number that makes the difference. I'd give it 5 stars but one of the four lamps I bought is flickering and needs to be returned. I'll be contacting Cooper Lighting to return it. 4Beautiful light, ensure proper dimmer switch. We purchased 8 of these from a different retailer and installed them with the corresponding halo new construction housings. They're really very nice but keep in mind that some dimmer switches will cause a buzzing sound and cooper does have a compatibility list on their site. I experienced a slight buzz with the lutron diva C-L dimmer but it has gone away with replacing with an accell aal06. These really do look nice. 5
