Customer Reviews

Installation tidbit-- 'cutting hole' and 'locking clips' --seamless install but these are need to knows Very easy to work with and an almost seamless install. Would strongly suggest using an 'adjustable holesaw' designed for can lights. Found as: Adjustable Can Lights Holesaw or search something to that effect. The lip on the can that prevents it from falling into the hole is only approximately 5/16" wide. If you attempt to cut the hole with a keyhole saw or via some other method 'by hand', then the likelihood of cutting your hole too large is highly probable. If you use one of those adjustable holesaws designed for can light installations, you will be fine in that arena. The other tidbit is- the clips that some others had issues with presented me with no problems. If you are installing the lights in 3/8-1/2" thick sheetrock ceilings then you should have no issues with them either. Once you have the can light seated in the ceiling properly, push those clips up to hold the can in place. Once they are pushed into place, then use a standard screwdriver to push up on the little small protrusion from the clip to slide the clip upwards more in the slot. This will lock them into place and also create a much stronger hold against the top side of your sheetrock. 5Gets the job done, great for traditional can lights and future LED retro fit kits Worked perfectly for my kitchen update. I love look and light of traditional can lights, and didn't want to rule out being able to add LED's later, and since there are so many retrofit LED kits, it was not a problem. Yes, the side clips can be a problem but you just have to keep working at it. I found that some of the clips I had to shove all the way to the top notch, and then push in with a flat head screw driver to secure it up in the locked position. If you have having issues with that and working with it, I probably would suggest having someone else do this project for you. But I did it myself and I can hang a ceiling fan by myself and replace outlets and switches, pretty straight forward. I did end up using some LED kits from Home Depot, and I purchased about 8 other kits to test the light results because I'm picky when it comes to the temperature and brightness. The lights work great. 5Good cans Good lighting cans. Were too deep for my shallow ceiling application, but easily resolved. Drill the rivets on the end, cut the sides to size and rivet it back together. Why these are soooo deep, I'll never know. :-/ 5Good in Theory...Not in Reality Purchased six of these cans for LED lights; four of them arrived bent out of shape into an oval. And not a slight oval...more like the Ford logo oval. So ridiculous because the box they came in was absolutely fine, so they were packed in that condition. The clips that hold these in place had a tendency to go beyond the fully extended range and ended up getting stuck on the other side of the can in the ceiling where they weren't accessible, leaving me to try securing this flush to the ceiling with glue.If they arrived in good condition and the tabs were sturdier, this would have rated much higher. 2Halo make a great product These are the best quality and essayist cans to install in any pre finished space.Do all your wiring first, run wire out of cutout and make all your connections (which are quick connectors) then place the can in cutout (make sure all black holding clips are retracted (slid inside can) push flush to drywall and from inside can slide each clip up. If you can't get them to lock all the way use a flat tip screwdriver to push the clip until it locks in place. 5Perfect fit Extremely pleased with end results. We traced the enclosed template and cut on the line. The hole was perfect for the can to fit in. Did need a little bit of small hammering to the clip (right before you use the screwdriver to push up the clip in its final position. ) Fit flush and my husband liked the style of wire ties that came with the unit. If we require any more I will definitely purchase these again. 5These are awesome, didn't have any problem with the clips These are awesome, didn't have any problem with the clips, you just have to push them in hard and they worked great. The template they give you is a little on the small side, we found that if we cut right on the outside edge of the template circle, they fit perfectly. So easy to install it was amazing and fast, they look and work great. Thanks for a great product. 5I love these Halo lights and I have put them all ... I love these Halo lights and I have put them all over the house-but if you are putting them in a plaster ceiling, the clips that tighten them don't work very well (more for 1/2" drywall) they are a bit tight for 3/4"+ plaster, but you can drive screws through the holes in the can into your plaster lath 5Slight buzzing when connected to a dimmer switch Installed these in our nursery for recessed lighting, and we attached a dimmer switch to it. The lights now buzz, we are going to try to switch dimmer but not sure if it is an issue with these cans. Cans to look nice in ceiling. Lights sit flush with cans and give a very nice aesthetic to the room. 3Does the job Good cans, tricky installation. I found a video on Youtube that has great tips for installation. I wish I had watched it before installing my first one. 1. You will need more parts. The Wiring box needs an adaptor (or two) for your wires/conduit. 2. bottom flange could be a smidgen wider. It didn't quite cover hole made to template size. 4
