Customer Reviews

Great system. Does the job Great system. Does the job. Only thing to watch is if your frame is very small, or if it is rectangular (with a big difference in size of sides) the branches will interfere. Great for square and most rectangles, pulls things tight. 5Worked well to repair a broken frame. A little confusing at first, but figured it out okay. Wish it had a storage box. I bought this to fix a frame that had broken. Buying this to fix it was cheaper than buying a new frame. Otherwise, I'm not really familiar with any kind of frame clamp. That being said, it was a little confusing when I first opened up the package. I had to put it together before I could use it. The instructions were clear so it was pretty easy to put together. I then had to experiment with how to line up the frame. It was rectangle so it didn't fit in the same way as the frame in the picture. Eventually, I got the hang of it and was able to use it.It worked very well for my purposes. I was a little concerned that the glue I was using would squeeze out and glue to frame to the frame clamp, but that didn't happen. However, it's something that the user needs to watch out for, especially if you're using a strong glue that adheres to not only wood, but also to metal. My only real complaint was that the box it came in would only fit the frame clamp if I took it completely apart. There are four screws in which you have to hold the bolt in place in order to get the screws in (this is part of the instructions). I didn't want to take those screws out, only to have to fight to get them back in again. I ended up modifying the box (cut and tape) in order to make it fit the frame clamp with only the middle bolt removed. I did not take off any points for the box, however, since the description never claimed to come with a storage box. But I thought I'd mention it because I'm sure I'm not the only person who will want to store it away in between uses without taking it completely apart each time. One other thing to watch for is whether your frame is bowing while in the frame clamp. When I got the clamp tight enough to squeeze the corners together, I discovered that the frame bowed outward. I had to hold it down with some books to be sure the glue didn't dry that way. If I let off some of the tension to stop the bowing, the joints weren't tight enough. So I couldn't find a way around it other than adding books on top to stop the bowing. All in all, it's a neat little tool. It saved me a lot of money by allowing me to fix a broken frame rather than replacing it. Might be a bit confusing for the newbie to these kinds of frame clamps, but I expect most people should be able to figure it out as long as they are willing to fiddle with it until you learn. I might even try to make some of my own frames now that I have this gizmo. The regular black frames shouldn't be too hard to make. 5This product was a dream-come-true for me. I build a lot of picture frames and need all to be square. It doesn't matter if your miter cuts are correct, you still need to keep the frame square after gluing the (biscuit) joints. It took me a while to learn how to keep the tool in the correct position, but I'm a neophyte and 74-years old. This tool works better than any clamps I've tried. 5Fast and square Its simple to set up. The whole concept works well in that it will naturally pull up all pieces into square at corners. I made six frames of various dimensions with the largest being 16x20. Quick to glue up and get clamped square. Aluminum and plastic parts don't get stuck to the glue squeeze out. Unit nicely lays flat and is flat on top surface, so if you put it on a flat table to start with your frame will be planer. Not a fault, but I did eliminate using the long bolt/wingnut that they provide as it seemed slow to thread the wing down and on my smallest frame, it simply got in the way. Found (as the description suggests) that using a clamp instead makes for fast setup and removal. I just picked the speed clamp size based upon how big I needed to span (big frame, big clamp. small frame, small clamp).I will be making canvas stretching frames of all sizes for local print shop to mount their product on, so this will make my work fast and quality. May buy a second one to speed up process. 4A flexible, accurate and easy to use tool. I have made more than a dozen frames with these so far and like them a lot. Easy to use, solid and accurate with great size flexibility. 5Perfect!! Received the clamp today 10/29/13. Easy to put together. Have put 2 frames together using it and it works great. Squares the corners beautifully and holds great. Have tried other clamps with this one being the best yet. Most of my frames are 22"x27" (outside measurements). 5Lines up even I have a wood shop. 5Possibly the best frame clamp ever made This frame clamp has been ideal for me. It will hold virtually any size frame (within its limits) for glue-ups, dry fitting and measurements. It will also allow you to check your miters. I do have a miter jig that I know is 0.4 shifted right (right side of the jig cuts 44.6 , left side at 45.4 ). As long as I match up a right side cut to a left side cut, this clamp will ensure I have 90 at the corner. The clamp can be expanded to make larger frames by removing the middle screw and using a bar clamp instead.I've also used it to hold drawer boxes for assembly, small jewelry boxes for dry fitting and measurements. 5Perfect hold for rectangles with properly cut miters Perfect hold for rectangles with properly cut miters. Need to clean glue sqeeze-out out of the corners frequently. Well constructed, good price. 4Well made, but get rid of that thumb screw! This thing is pretty well made. I bought it to put together a large 24 x 36 frame. I think it still might be a little small to use for such a large frame. The distance between the center clamp pieces is pretty far...however, it worked solidly with a long pistol grip style clamp. One suggestion I have is to get rid of that thumbscrew at the center and replace it with a knob. The thumbscrew does give you a little more clamping strength, but if you are doing smaller frames than I, the knob would be better, faster, less frustrating. Plus, keep in mind the red corner grippers at the end are made or plastic (including the part that inserts into the aluminum frame) and if you apply too much pressure with that thumbscrew you might break off one of the attachment points. TIP: This does NOT automatically make your frame "square" as the center pivot still can turn/move a little - use a square to check prior to final tighten. Overall, works well and I would buy again. 4
