Customer Reviews

Works great with Z-wave tilt sensor The Z-wave tilt sensors get stuck sometimes, so if you add one of these you'll get a good reading every time for whether the garage door is actually open or closed. Also, the tilt sensors themselves require the garage door to be nearly completely open to get a reading, which is fine if you just left the garage door open, but not fine if you want to detect a slimeball who is propping it open to slide in. 5I recommend I made my own home alarm system and I wanted to get my doors wired up. These little magnets work awesome. I have a 5V power output from a DAQ device running through it. When the magnets are not in contact, it breaks the signal and my DAQ device picks up on the signal loss. This type does however require you to drill into the wall and the door. Other types, such as the Honeywell Ademco only require you to drill one side and screw in the magnet to the door. In either case, I would buy again. 5Works as Advertised I live in a rental duplex and my monitoring system was sporadically going off because of the back door sensor. Finally told my landlord and they gave me $20 to buy this part (which was about $10 shipped).I had never worked with alarm sensors before, but when I got up there and looked, it was no problem figuring out how to get the old one out and put this one right into place after splicing the very adequately lengthed provided wires with the existing ones. There is also a gap of nearly an inch between the top of my door and the door frame, where the sensors meet (a result of the foundation settling I suppose) which had me worried that that could still pose a problem. But zero false alerts since replacing it with this one. 5Excellent I installed this into a new replacement door and frame, using my original wiring to attach, and it works great! 5Quality replacement Exact replacement for my needs. I did not have the small wire connectors like the original installer used - so I soldered the wires together and covered them with heat-shrink tubing. This should outlast the life remaining on my ancient alarm system. 5What the pros use These are the same as what was used to install my security system by a monitoring company. When the house was built, they ran wire to all the doors, even though they didn't put sensors in all of them. I was easily able to add these sensors and hook them up to my system to gain the extra zones. 5Defective product This product is defective and in return policy it says I can t return or exchange it. Very disappointed 1Works! Took 2 minutes to install and now my mom has her front door secured, over the push button that went bad after a year. I love it! 5Life saver to an home improvement projects gone wrong We were replacing the door jam of the backdoor and my boyfriend used a sawzall to cut the nails and completely forgot about the door sensor and cut it in half, so there was no saving it! After some research found this and it looked close to what was there before. The package came with instructions to drill the wood with a 3/8" drill bit 1" deep for the contact and 3/4" deep for the magnet. I didn't use the magnet part that goes in the door since I'll be replacing the door soon. The contact has 2 lines are about 4"-6" long which was nice just in case my existing line was too short. I stripped the plastic off and and doesn't matter which one you connect to. I twisted them together and used some electric heat shrink to keep it together, pushed the extra lines behind the trim and it worked like a charm. 5Works fine. Installs easily. I replace a door on the side of my house with a prehung unit. The alarm system had a similar unit installed in the old frame. So I got this unit to install with the new door frame. The NC switch installs easily. The leads are long enough, and are tinned, and so were easy to solder. No surprises in first few months. No false alarms. No failure-to-opens. I expect this unit to last the life of the door. 5
