    Beware colors running!! I bought these in advance of our trip to Disney after reading good reviews. They were helpful but be forewarned- THEY BLEED LIKE CRAZY. Wondering what chemicals leeched into the skin of my kids (and me) in the past few days. It does say wash well before use but in small print very few people read. I'm usually one of those people but I was packing for a big trip, bought them, and threw them in the bag. I rinsed very well before using when we arrived. Then after day 1 (when I saw the color bleeding), I also soaked them overnight in the sink with soap and also agitated and squeezed A LOT(see photo). Despite this, they continued to bleed. I don't think I'd use on an ongoing basis, but would recommend for the purpose we used them for - being trapped in super high humidity & heat with small children and access to water and ice. But wash many (many) times first, especially if you get blue or pink! 4Don't expect the world, just a cooler place to be. Strange wet suit-like material, not very attractive to wear around but boy do they help in the heat. The trick to these working, and keeping cool after they've warmed without re-wetting is to "whip or snap" the towel into the air a few times. Chills it right back up. Grab one if you plan to be out in the heat. I ordered this one and the standard size but found this one much wore usable and the standard size way too bulky to be reasonable. 4They really do work! These things are amazing! I mostly bought these for my husband. The main reason he dislikes going to parks or outdoor outings is because he gets too hot, and I wanted to find something to make him less miserable. I read about these on a blog, and I hoped they'd help.I bought them in anticipation of a theme park trip, and we tried them out at the zoo ahead of time. Now, my husband is a skeptic, and he was shaking his head at me, asking how these could possibly work - until he put it on. He spent the whole day feeling it and asking me, 'but how do they DO that?' Now, whenever we're going on an outing, he's the one double-checking that we packed them.Honestly? They're amazing. They really are cold - not just wet, cold, like putting your hand in a cooler. They stay cool for a few hours, and when the pattern starts to fade it's time to get them wet again. If they aren't cool enough, just take it off and snap it in the air a couple of times, then put it back on.I was worried they'd soak our clothes, but they don't, as long as you wring them out gently - not too much or they dry out quickly, just enough to keep them from dripping.These ones we got for the kids, and we bought some regular Frogg Toggs for ourselves, but we are kind of envying the thinner design and the slit in these because they stay on better and don't dry out any faster. They're only about half the size and don't come in as many colors, though. 5Too large for a headband, I'm disappointed. This is basically a small version of Frogg Toggs chilli pad. The material is tough and rigid until you soak it in water. I brought this to wear under my hard hat, but it fails terribly for that purpose. Personally, I think it's far too large to be a usable headband and it sure isn't going to fit under anything other than maybe a baseball cap. I have a towel from the same company and I'm not fond of their products. I would not recommend this. 1Cardboard when dry, Wet cardboard when wet - NOPE Whaaaa?So I bought a 2 pack of Costco's cooling towels but urgently needed more for a weekend camping. Hey, thought I to myself, it's a great time to try Frog Togs and with free shipping I can't go wrong.Unless they turn out to feel like rubbery cardboard. Oh, did I forget to add drippy?Yes, I wrung them out but they just felt like someone's damp wetsuit.I am pretty good about returns and don't like wasting money but after everyone in my group got done making jokes about this ("a scarf for a scuba diver?!") I just threw it out.Adding a pic of the ones I love- I use these everywhere from on the airplane (keep it dry in a side pocket- get stuck on the tarmac for 2 hours, rinse and be the only cool one on the plane!) to around my neck to stay chill on hot summer days during chores. Once I was driving an old car that overheated and wrapped it around my head and survived 2 hours driving with full heat on in a Montana summer.So yes, cooling towels work but save your money and get an Arctic Cool. Mine are still working after 3 years! 1Bought 2 and they were great for our theme park days in Orlando this summer Bought 2 and they were great for our theme park days in Orlando this summer!! Follow the directions and machine wash/hang dry them BEFORE you use them. The first day I didn't have time and didn't think it would matter, but they didn't get that cold or stay cold as long as they did the next day after washing. After seeing mine, my mom also bought some to take to an outdoor amphitheater in the heat of the summer. Love that it comes in an easy carrying case! We have also taken these out on the boat with us, and my husband uses them during fishing tournaments when he wishes he could jump in the water to cool off.P.S. Back when my husband and I had summer jobs as camp counselors, a parent gave him two of these as a sweet thank you for being her kid's counselor. She wrote a little note on the plastic case and I thought it was such a thoughtful gift for anyone who works outside! Just an idea : ) 5This towel was amazing.. was way cooler than the ambient temp ... I got asked by my job to go spend 3 weeks working in a shop in Longview, TX. In the shop temps could range from 110-130 inside since it was not air conditioned at all. This towel was amazing.. was way cooler than the ambient temp and kept me cooler as well. It didn't work as well as air conditioning, so I did still sweat and feel warm.. but this helped a lot. I used it around my neck for a couple of days, but found it best wrapped around my head under my hardhat. My one tip is be sure to run it under water and ring it out after use, if you sweat on it a lot. I didn't do that for whatever reason, and mine got a little "smell" to it.. but after a hand washing in the sink it was back to new. 5Perfect for Hot Theme Park Touring!! This towel saved our lives in 98 degree weather at Disney World. Traveling to Florida in June with a 6 year old and a heat intolerant 12-year-old, I knew we needed something to help keep the kids comfortable and happy. These towels did the trick. When the kids got hot (5 minutes after we walked out of the hotel room), they would wrap these around their neck, press them to their forehead, etc. These towels do a magical job of staying cool to the touch for at least a couple of hours. A quick rinse in a sink reactivates and refreshes them. When we got back to the hotel, we would wash them in soapy water and hang them to dry. They dry hard like cardboard, but rinsing them in water turns them into a soft towel again. I threw them in a quart sized zip lock Baggie every morning and carried them in my purse until the kids wanted them (which was usually immediately!!). Fantastic product!!! 5Thick material makes it user unfriendly The material of this towel/ head band is very thick, which makes it inconvenient to use. The material surely gets cool, but because the material is thick and rigid there is little contact with our skin and you don't benefit from the cooling effect. Once yo found a way to keep it in contact with your skin it warms to body temperature fairly quickly and you have to move it around to promote ventilation.Mine also had to be washed multiple times before the pink color would no longer come off.All in all: it cools, but is inconvenient to use 2Frogg Toggs Chilly Towels are wonderful! As others stated in the reviews I read, this product really works! My Boyfriend and I both run, bike, and golf so I got us each a towel. We used them two weeks ago for a 40 mile bike ride on winding hills and in the July heat... Everyone in our group were impressed at how the chill remained on the towel even after an hour. Pretty much I think I helped sell six more of these, as everyone wanted one for our upcoming WAM50 Bike ride this Sunday. I also purchased the large square towel from Chillz it, but may return it as the oblong shape with the neck hole is more conducive to putting around your neck vs a square towel. The instructions do state to wash it with gentle soap and air dry before you use it, so dont buy it and think you can just wet it and go. really great purchase and love it. 5
