Customer Reviews

It is all you need. Better than the outdoor FM antenna I had !!! I am using this antenna on my 1980 vintage $10,000.00 dollar Technics stereo system . It vastly exceeded my best expectations. It's performance is close to the outdoor Radio Shack antenna I had. I am extremely happy with the results.Great value for your money. I very highly recommend!!! 5Simple And Inexpensive FM Antenna. If you're in need of an FM Antenna for your home receiver this is the way to go. It worked like a champ right out of the box, and packaging. I've had no problems with it at all. I followed the simple instructions i.e. connecting it to the stereo receiver, proper placement location and all has been fine. 5From Static to Stations! Wow, so before I had a receiver with a 2 wire connection to the back of my garage receiver, got a lot of static but the radio stations still came in sometimes. That receiver burnt out, and I got a used receiver from a friend that didn't get anything but static. I live in the furthest most suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and this receiver had the need for a push on 75o antenna, this did not do the trick at first (since it screws on) it needed a push on to f adapter, got it at Menards for $1.30.Once I had that, this thing picks up every station crystal clear. I'm beyond happy that I don't need to plug my phone in to get radio stations. Money well spent! 5Nicely improves FM reception with trade offs of aesthetics or space Got this to improve the FM reception on an older stereo system. Unfortunately, it had the wrong connection type ... I needed a push-on rather than a coaxial screw-on connection. Added an adapter later. Works great and provides clearly improved reception. When aesthetics is a demand, consider that this needs to be stretched out to its full length + width to get the optimal reception. I placed it hidden behind the stereo + TV stand. Alternatively, this does not occupy the space that "antenna boxes" do. So, when the space at the top of your stereo stand is already at a premium, this may just do the job. 4In my case, makes reception worse The three stars is a conditional rating - if I get an answer to one issue, I'll change it to 5 stars. The issue is with the reception when this external FM antenna is attached to the radio. I bought the "FM Dipole Antenna - Male "F" connector" external FM antenna by MCM Electronics that Amazon recommends with the Sangean WR-15WL radio. With the switch on the back of the radio set to Int (internal antenna), reception is pretty good - at least 20 stations have strong enough signals to make the green tuning LED light. When the switch is switched to Ext and the external antenna is attached, reception becomes poor, with only a few signals strong enough to light the green LED tuning indicator. The literature that ships with the radio recommends a 75 ohm external antenna. The info on Amazon for the FM Dipole Antenna - Male "F" connector by MCM says that this is a 75 ohm antenna. A reviewer responding in the Q&A section for this antenna disputes that, claiming that it's actually a 300 ohm antenna. I read a couple web sites that offer explanations about the different resistances in FM antennae, but I didn't really understand it. So I don't know if I bought a 75 ohm or a 300 ohm antenna, and I don't understand why attaching this FM antenna to the radio makes reception worse, compared to using the radio's internal antenna. 3Antenna Works Great I moved a four year old Sony Surround A/V receiver to the basement. I was disappointed to discover I could not receive a single FM Radio station. I read numerous reviews on several basic FM antennas and chose this antenna. Man, I never though a basic antenna would make so much difference. I live 45 miles from one large city, and 60 miles from another. I now get all the radio stations I get in my car from both cities, plus many more. I did have to fiddle around with the antenna location to get the best reception with the maximum stations. But what a difference this antenna made. There may be other antennas that provide a comparable outcome. I can only speak for this one. What an improvement it made on my reception. 5UNBALANCED line with pictures. This is an unbalanced line, NOT 75 ohms, as you can see in the attached photos. The quality of the antenna is good despite the mislabeled ohms. 1Works great If you're looking at this item, chances are you already know what a dipole FM antenna is. This one is inexpensive, a reasonable length, and provides a molded male "F" connector (like a cable TV connector). So if that's the FM antenna connector that your receiver uses, and provided you don't live in a fringe area, then this the choice for you. 5Does what it is supposed to do I have two old Bose wave radios that needed new antennas. This antenna plugged in easily into radio and improved the reception. I would recommend this product. 5Didn't work for my intended purpose, but that is my fault. I got tired of having to hear the national broadcast of my local sports team when they advanced into the NHL playoffs. I cannot stand the NBC announcers. I bought this so that I could tune into the radio feed of my team and mute the TV. I didn't realize (I definitely should have with my engineering background. D'oh) that the TV broadcast was at least 30 seconds behind the radio broadcast, which rendered it unusable for my needs. The product worked great though and provided a great signal on my Onkyo receiver. 5
