Customer Reviews

I like to keep my cost of living low I was originally using the AD2USB (I think that is the spelling) device to a small mini-itx computer for years. This thing was constantly getting hit by lightning, which is turn was taking out my switch too. This year, in 2017, enough was enough. It was getting too expensive keeping that system going. So what is a person with a Vista 20p going to do? I refuse to pay for monitoring, I like to keep my cost of living low, very low. I did some research to see what I could do in 2017 to keep it all going for more years and ran into two competing devices, this is the one I went with. Well this helped in more than one way. I actually freed up the Mini-ITX computer which was draining 30w of power 24 hours a day and the risk of that line getting hit by lightning yet again. I reduced heat, every little bit helps in the South. I did have to buy an ethernet to Wifi device, hell I did not even know those existed. Overall I got more than I bargained for. I can now use my phone to arm and disarm the system, could not do that the old way.I did lose one ability though and that is to be able to set a schedule to arm my Vista at night. I can do it but not without an annoying 30 second beep sequence. I am probably going to write a script and CRON job to do it when I get time. 5Say bye to ADT! This is a great little device with a good service.I got this because we dropped our expensive alarm service with ADT. Instead of paying $50 a month to have someone else monitor my house I now get to monitor my house myself for free with new features (not including one time cost of the EVL-3) . The New features I mean are being able to lock and unlock remotely (no more laying in bed wondering if I have to get up to set the alarm :p ), control cameras and get trouble codes and alarm messages sent straight to my phone and anyone one else I want to add.The installation was very easy and straight forward. I have a DSC Power Series PC1616. It just required me to hook up the four wires to the DSC and then connect an Ethernet cable. That's it for hardware setup! Next is setting up an on line account which is a pretty straight forward process. They have a PC geared portal and a Mobile portal that both offer tools to monitor your home. Adding a camera was easy, mileage may vary on the setup of your camera (your camera's instructions). I like it overall. You can also pay to have them monitor for added security if you feel inclined to do so.If anyone is seeing a yellow exclamation mark on their console just pull the power completely to your alarm system (PC1616 in my case needed the backup battery and power wires pulled). That should reset it.I recommend this to anyone that wants to cut ties with their alarm company! 5Professional alarm installer approved! I have professionally installed security systems for about 7 years and I recently purchased the Eyez-On EVL-3 for my own home. I already had a DSC 1864 in my house so I was really glad to learn that it worked with my existing panel with no programming necessary. It was super easy to install. It wires up like a keypad using 4 strand wire. +/- for power, and 2 data wires. Running the network cable meant a trip through the attic but that was nothing new for me.It works as advertised and the web browser is easy to navigate.I have one major gripe. I have it set to send me SMS/Text messages, but it always texts me from a different number. This means I can't save the number as a contact with a unique text tone. Also, since there's no app, there are no unique sounds or push notifications. I wish it could text me from the same number, or it had an app so that it made unique sounds. There are a few work-arounds for this, but I don't see why it can't have an app or text me from the same number every time. All in all I really like it and highly recommend it. I've told all my alarm installing buddies about it. 4I love this thing! Had this for over a year now and I'm very happy with it Worth every penny! I have text alerts, and I saved my local PD's # in mine and my fiancee's phone in case something happens. I installed this in a Vista20p panel. It hooks up to the keypad terminals in the panel and gives you full access to your system remotely. I was weary of the interface before ordering, but it works so well! It's not an 'app' like you would download from the Google play store or the app store, it works like this: you log into the website on a desktop PC, generate a mobile link (a unique link that you can revoke at any time if you feel it has been compromised), open the link on your phone's browser, and then save the link as an icon on your phone's home screen. It opens like an app, and you have full functionality of your panel. You can see all the zones, an event log, you can arm/disarm, bypass a zone, rename a zone, etc. You can also set your notifications. Mine even sends me texts when there's a power failure at home or if the internet goes down. Just make sure you've got a good/steady internet provider. My last provider was in and out. 5Exactly What I Needed For Internet Connecting My Security System Highly recommend this product. I wired this into my existing ADT Safewatch 3000 system (Honeywell/Ademco white label) and programmed it as another control pad. From there, you wire it into your home network and then connect it into the EyezOn website. For no monthly fee you have access to your security system from anywhere and can send the same keypad commands as you would standing at your control panel in your home. The wiring/programming might be a bit challenging for a non-technical person. I had to read up on the programming of my security system; reset it a few times to get into programming mode and reset the installer codes; and then enter the right key combinations to get it to talk to this controller properly. It wasn't too bad and the instructions from EyezOn were decent. They also have a forum where you can go for help, and they are pretty responsive.Beyond the free system you have a few options. One is an 'enhanced' service that lets you use a few more features (like Zone Watch on more than 1 Zone), the second is a full 3rd party ULC monitoring. It's MUCH cheaper than competing services, but I haven't found the need to use it yet.If you want to get very technical, there is a API you can access for the interface ([...]) It allows you to directly access the controller. But even if you aren't - the EyezOn website interface gives you access to your alarm system in a very user friendly manner. All said, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get out from the "Big Guys" monthly security contracts. Whether you are building your own system from scratch or taking over an older system, the EyezOn EVL-3 is exactly what you are looking for to internet connect your security system. 5Just works, like it should! Easily installed on DSC systems Installed the EnvisaLink with a new alarm control panel install (our previous 14 yr old DSC system was lost in a lightning strike) and this unit integrated with my new DSC PC1832 automatically, simply, easily and perfectly. EyezOn includes everything you need to install except for the 4 conductor wire, you should need less than 12 inches to connect to the keypad terminals (RBYG) on your control panel. This is tailored for DSC alarms - to the point where there are even perfectly spaced holes in the side of the newer DSC controller boxes to pop the included standoffs into and click your EnvisaLink in place (no drilling). Upon powering up the system it automatically registers itself as an additional keypad with your DSC alarm. Toughest part would be getting a network cable to your control panel. In my case our old landline (disconnected long ago) was actually run in our 2002 era home with Cat5 cable so I was able to convert the old line in the wall which ran into the old control panel to a modern era ethernet port. In the attic I cut the old cat5 and used a monoprice junction box to splice on an extension leg of cat6 down into my patch paneI, which in turn hooks to the router. The Eyezon website is a little clunky but once you get used to it easy to use. I really like how they let you tie in other devices to this unit. We have a Foscam IP camera on our network and the EyezOn web interface simply integrates the alarm control with the IP camera seamlessly after inputting the port and login info. You can control the alarm and cameras right from your smartphone anywhere in the world. SO slick. I am totally pleased with this product, I'll be recommending it to everyone I know! 5This was the only reason I bought a Vista-20p I really did not want to pay a monitoring company. I am quite happy with the notification I received from the eyez-on. It was very easy to hook up and hardly took me 15 minutes to complete the install and setup. I use it with the NMA app (notify my android) to get instant notification of security events and have different priority levels setup. It also works great with my FOSCAM FI8910W IP cameras to add video monitoring of my place. 5Best Alarm Monitoring & Controlling Enhancement Ever! When I removed our landline phone, I was left without a way to activate monitoring our deluxe home alarm system. This EYEZ hardware board enhancement installed perfectly in my VISTA 20 system. I now have 7X24 anytime, anywhere access to my 20 year old Honeywell Vista home alarm system from the web or mobile phone for FREE. I can easily see which alarm zones have been activated, arm and disarm, or send any code I select. I even have email and TEXT message notifications for when an alarm occurs and which zone caused the alarm, which is very nice, since when I am away, I can deactivate the alarm from my phone and then check the surveillance cameras to see what caused the alarm activation. Perfect product, I highly recommend this for any compatible alarm system, and you can eliminate the monthly charges from a landline and a monitoring company, since the EYEZ website monitoring is FREE. 5It works (slowly) but not to the quality standards that I expect It's okay. I much prefer the application that AlarmNet provides (Total Connect 2.0) which is unfortunately $10/month for access to self monitoring. The EyezOn for the Honeywell (on iPhone) is a very basic interface. It will show me if the system is armed or not remotely but the Zone Activity doesn't show me anything useful. I believe it is supposed to show which zones are armed and bypassed, etc but they never show any status. Some of the newer zones that I've programmed don't even show up. I have not tried rebooting everything yet (only the EyezOn)The formatting on the text messages/emails is also a little confusing. Some of the say "open", some say "closed". You can get used to what it means but it's very confusing for others who are not technical. There can also be a rather large delay in interacting with the system when using the EyezOn (compared to AlarmNet). AlarmNet responds to commands within 1-3 seconds where as the EyezOn responds 30 seconds or later (sometimes as high as 2-3 minutes). Kind of annoying when we have a false alarm and the dog/cat are freaking out for an extra minute or 2 before I can shut it off remotely.Overall, I just wasn't impressed with this thing and there's no way I would pay them to monitor. 2Great solution for smart home integration and remote control of your alarm without monthly fees Excellent product, works very well. I have integrated it with DSC 1864 and Vera Edge, and it allows me to control all partitions of the alarm using a smart home app. There is some room for improvement, here are the things that do bother me:1. True mobile app - today you can have a "secret" link to a page made for mobile phone, without any pass codes, that will allow you to control your alarm. While this is better than nothing, it is not secure. If you do not need this feature, you can disable it.2. Multiple commands processing - If you have multiple partitions, you can't disable all at the same time, you have to switch to each partition and then disable. With the smart home app, I have managed to send arm/disarm commands, in a 15 seconds interval between partitions and it works.3. Reboots - While the unit is quite stable, it does require reboots once in a while. You can do it using a web interface. 4
