Customer Reviews

The search is over UPDATE: Well, I am sad to report that after three months of use the shoulder strap pad is coming apart at the seams. Not sure what I'm going to do about it yet. I would also like to add that I have now flown with this bag and my laptop three times and each time I have had either the security people or a fellow traveler (or both) marvel at the awesomeness of this bag. Too bad it wasn't made to last. I'm bummed. After years of ordering, shopping for and returning laptop messenger bags I have finally found the perfect one. More than I wanted to pay, but well worth it. The bag is so smartly designed. My gigantic Samsung Galaxy Note 3 fits easily in the outer Velcro pockets and that's with a case on it which makes it even bigger. The Velcro is properly placed and the strip is long enough to accommodate phones of all shapes and sizes. The outer pockets can also accommodate a commuter umbrella or a 20oz water/soda bottle (with flap open). My new HP Elite Book fits in the laptop compartment PERFECTLY...great padding and the Velcro strip and elastic band are both the proper length which keeps my computer secure and snug...most other bags I've tried had computer compartment so large and Velcro strips and elastic bands so long that the computer would shift from back to front constantly. The front zippered compartment is wonderful, the mesh zippered pouch is so handy...with one glance you know what is in there, no digging around in a black hole for my asthma inhaler, power supply or hairbrush. There are many other pouches and slots in the same compartment...all sized to accommodate many different things. The non zippered mid compartment has edges that overlap the opening with a bit of padding...things are secure, but no zipper is required. The bottom is flat and it's a perfect space to place my wallet, makeup bag, magazines, bills... oh and today a pair of loafers since I needed to wear my snow boots to get to the transit stop. The Velcro for the front flap is strong, wide and properly placed. Unless I have a massive amount of stuff in the bag the Velcro on the flap is enough to keep everything secure. I use the flap clamps only if the bag is bulging with a bunch of extra stuff. The clamps when clicked into place are shielded by a thin wet suit like material which at first I thought was odd, but I am getting used to it. There is also a strip in the back that pulls away from the bag to fit on a telescoping handle of a suitcase. It too is perfectly fitted to the bag with Velcro and does not ever get hung up on things. The strap adjustment is easy and the bag is comfortable to wear cross-body or just over the shoulder. The top handle is also a feature that was missing from many of the other bags I experimented with...it is very handy. There is also a small zippered compartment on the outside of the flap. I keep my work keys, work access badge, lip balm, hand sanitizer and hand lotion in it. I don't travel for my job, but it is also checkpoint friendly because the laptop compartment lays totally flat when unzipped all of the way. Every compartment that has a zipper has double pulls, so it can be opened from either side. I could go on and on and on about how awesome this bag is. To sum it up - it's a winner all the way around!!!! 5This bag's bags need Botox I've had this bag for four months. When I first got it I thought "finally! A bag designed right!" I loved the vertical structure, compartments, and zippers. Right away I knew I had a problem though when the tabs on the velcro flaps started to fray within a week. The tabs stick to the Velcro! The next disappointment was the buckles and velcro closure. The buckles take far too long to fight with and the Velcro isn't lined up right. So top flap hangs over past the Velcro and doesn't always close.Which brings me to the next point. I also discovered this same issue is related to it lacking structure for the luggage strap to work well. When I slide it over my carry on handle, the strap is so low that the top of the bag flops over. Then the top flap is open and hanging lower and the only way it all holds together is to keep my carry on tipped at an angle so gravity keeps it all in place. Maybe it needs Botox? ;)Disappointed and looking at other options now. 2Best bag you could ask for! I'll keep it short and sweet. I've had this bag for almost 2 years and I love it so much I can't imagine being without it. It's PERFECT. It's COMFORTABLE. And it fits under the seat in front of you on an airline so you don't have to stow it. Pockets everywhere, yet it doesn't make the bag misshapen or "bulge-y". Side pockets are perfect size for smartphone and one of those USB battery packs for recharging. The only thing I wish is that Everki had a 15.6" version of this bag for my XPS 9550!!I took advantage of the lifetime warranty recently, because the "leather-wrapped" handle was starting to tear and crack. After submitting pictures, they agreed to send me a new one on the condition that I either send back the defective one at my cost, or cut the tags and the shoulder straps off and slice up the front and send them pictures of said destruction, or donate it and send a picture of the reciept/letter from the charity. I guess I can understand them keeping people from wanting two bags, but I just can't bring myself to cutting and slicing my trusty bag up, so charity it is!They took my CC info for security and sent me a brand new one! Once I submit proof of donation, they will not charge my CC. Seems fair.Don't hesitate buying one of these! Oh -- did I mention the fluffy soft interior pockets and the awesome black and orange? Love it! 5A Perfect, One-of-a-Kind Messenger Bag for Professionals I so wanted to ditch my old laptop backpack -- even though it had so many great features -- because it always hurt my thumb (I always wore it on the side, never full hiker-style) and made me look something less than professional. But I could never find a messenger bag that had (1) ample room for stuff like lunch and gym clothes, (2) a compartment for the laptop that I could open independently, (3) TSA-friendliness that would save me from removing my laptop at airports, (4) a strap on the back to connect to a rolling suitcase, and (5) a keyring. But I discovered this EVERKI EKS620 on Google, then found it on Amazon. It has all of the above except for the keyring, but I made one myself merely by attaching a retractable ring to one of the inner zipper pulls. What's even better is that the bag looks great and feels great. The fact that it's vertical means it doesn't constantly flip around my waist, and the strap is comfortable. While the inside is not very wide, it is very deep. And the pockets in the front and on the sides are dynamite. In the front pocket, I keep my foldable earphones and my ID card. On one side pocket, I keep my smart phone; on the other I keep my MiFi -- I never have to search for either. The bag does have two classic plastic clasps in the front (plus velcro), but with the laptop zippered in a separate compartment, I don't have to open the main compartment more than once or twice a day, and the clasps work fine -- they're actually in little hidden pockets so it's easier to guide the buckles into the clasps. It can be a little heavy at times, but again it feels better to have that weigh in a vertical bag that constantly hugs my body, than in a horizontal one that fights my body.So if, like me, you need this bag, get this bag. There's nothing else like it if you don't want a backpack. 5I generally like this bag Bought it a few days ago to replace my old messenger bag. From my limited experience so far, this is what I can say about this product. It is well made with quality materials. The interior is well planned, and keep things organized. I generally like this bag.I just hope this bag is improved in four areas.First, there are two side bags of the same size. I hope one of them can be a bit bigger.Second, there is a convenience bag on the front cover, which allows easy access to small items without opening the front cover. I enjoy this feature, just hope it is a bit deeper. In fact there is adequate space to make it deeper.Third, there are many internal pockets for items of various sizes. There are all designed for relatively flat items. I hope there is one for a bulky object such as a trackball. I carry a trackball (ELECOM Wireless track ball mouse 6 button Tilt function Black M-XT3DRBK) with my laptop. It is not big among other trackballs, but fit too tight in any existing pockets.Fourth, I hope the shoulder strap can be adjusted further. I prefer very short shoulder strap.update: After two years of use on a daily basis, I still like the bag. I took it on road trip for a few conferences. It has adequate space for extra clothing. For a short trip (up to 4 days), this bag holds everything I need. The shoulder strap finally gave in. The plastic material on the inside of the shoulder pad cracked badly; the sewing on the should pad is also torn open under 2 years of stress. 4A great bag for frequent travellers that like organization with minimal bulk. "Update after over 18 months of travelling:The bag still looks like new. The strap fabric does show a little bit of graying discoloration due to wear, or maybe even a bit of dirt from handling it; but overall its is still in great shape. The bag gets a lot of positive comments as everyone finds the vertical format a great solution for carrying around without being bulky. At least 3 colleagues in my company have bought this same bag after seeing mine. They all have had similar experiences."Original Review"This is my second Everki bag, the first one being my Beacon Backpack which I used to carry around my big 17.5 inch laptop.I had been looking for for a vertical bag that was not too bulky , but large enough to accommodate my 14 inch laptop when necessary.I am a Cargo Airline crew member, and being able to accommodate belongings in an organized way, light weight, easy to carry, fast access, good handles and straps etc are all all factors that drive the ever constant pursuit of the elusive perfect bag.The Everki Urbanite is great in many of those accounts, compact but very roomy; great manufacturing, excellent materials and light weight.(My Beacon backpack has been all around the world for the past 4 years, and it still looks great with no visible wear and tear. The Urbanite is made of the same great materials.)There are plenty of pockets to organize all the important stuff ready at glance. The two side pockets are perfect for two 16 oz bottles of water for whenever you need them later. The TSA ready fold out flat laptop pocket is a great time saver for those commercial flights when not on crew duty. The strap is excellent in adjustability (fixed though, so if you do not want the strap your only option is to fold it inside the bag, which can be done neatly) and with comfortable , non slip padded shoulder piece that is comfortable on the shoulder or across to the opposite shoulder as a messenger bag.Just enough pockets for vertical folders, maybe a notebook, and I have enough room for my Bose QC15 in their case.Extremely pleased with this purchase." 5My prior back which I had a good experience with was a larger TSA friendly Everki backpack I recently moved from a traditional 14" laptop to a 12" Surface Pro. My objective was to cut my travel pack down in size and bulk as I'm doing more long haul trips. My prior back which I had a good experience with was a larger TSA friendly Everki backpack. This one looked like a good fit for what I need. I've done a couple of trips to the other side of the world with it and really like it.The TSA friendly pouch is large enough to hold my Surface Pro (2017) inside a separate sleeve. I find this is a good way to travel for the extra protection, as well as the ability to slide it out and carry it around without the whole bag if needed while at a destination. Its also been useful when going through non US security where they don't accept the TSA friendly approach. I can sit it on the sleeve it they want it completely removed.About the only thing I don't like about it is the outside zipper pouch is a little too small. It will hold a passport, but it won't hold boarding passes without being folded, and isn't big enough for an iPhone 6s Plus. I would have preferred the ability to put my passport, tickets, wallet, and mobile phone in that pouch. What I'm doing instead is putting cellphone and wallet in one of the side pouches with velcro flap; and then folding my ticket over in the passport to put it in that zipper pouch. All and all, this is a great back. Will be interesting to see how well it holds up as the strap that slides over my carry-on handle doesn't look that strong. Time will tell. I definitely like the lighter package and this has plenty of room for me now. 5Awesome Update, and Awesome customer service! This is the 2nd Everki bag I have owned, I also own the Atlas. I previously had an Oakley vertical messenger that I loved until it fell apart. In looking for a replacement the first place I looked was Everki due to my positive experience with the Atlas. I love the Atlas, but don't always want to carry a full backpack, and the vertical messenger type bags to me seem more professional at times. I wanted this bag to be perfect, and everything was expect the shoulder straps, they were not removable, and they had no sort of swivel, which led to the strap continually getting twisted. I missed that in my research. Everything else was great, the compartments are very functional, and held my 13" Retina Macbook Pro, Ipad, charger for both, 2 Anker battery packs, various cables, usb drives, passport, headphones, IEM's with plenty of room to spare. The only issue with me, was the strap, I wanted something that would swivel and not get tangled, or that I could remove if needed. I bought this in August 2015, on a whim, I contacted Everki customer service to see if they knew of a way to modify the strap to allow for it to be removable, and allow a swivel clip on each end. They responded that they did not, but that they had updated this model to include a detachable strap, with a swivel, and offered to replace my older version with the new version, no cost. Received the updated version, and its solid, same compartment's and usability as before, with the updated removable strap option. I transferred all my stuff out of my Atlas and am happily using this one until the next time I need to travel over night. 52 1/2 years later, finally showing some wear. Used the bag as my primary bag for 2.5 years with a Microsoft Surface being my primary work computer (sometimes two). Liked quick and easy access to the computer without undoing the straps. The middle section could really expand if I wanted to tuck a pair of shoes + 311 bag in there so I could make due with a carry-on bag for a week. Overall, I've liked it better than any other bag I've had.The biggest con is that the laptop is not as protected as it could be, particularly on straight down drops. To keep the outside pocket TSA compliant there are ways where a laptop can find it's way past the padding. It took three years, but my Surface screen finally paid the price last week.I finally needed to write to Everki because the zipper on the inside mesh pocket came unsown (one end of the zipper floating free). Will update the review once I hear back. Still that it took all that daily punishment, so I've been happy with the purchase. 4My Best Ever Business Bag for Everyday and Trips I normally don't write reviews because Amazon won't publish the truth. EVERKI did something right and I want to reward them. I travel often for work and over the years have purchased a warehouse full of bags. TUMI, and all kinds of expensive bags. Backpacks, briefcase, all sorts of styles. Lately I see the need for something that holds my computer, tablet, Kindle, files, cords, and all sorts of stuff. Most important, something that is slim to carry and fits under an airline seat so some inconsiderate person doesn't crush my stuff in the overhead bin with their 6 peices of heavy luggage. Well, I am pleasantly surprised with EVERKI. Pockets and padding exactly where I need it. Well designed, rugged and plush inside electronic storage pockets and such. The size is perfect to hold everything I need for a business trip (save my clothes that go in a small carryon). I can get to everything I need in a hurry on the aircraft. I have almost instant access to my laptop or tablet. AWESOME! Forget the $400 TUMI. EVERKI got my attention. When I need smaller gadget bags and such, I will search Amazon for EVERKI in the first instance. Job well done! 5
