Customer Reviews

Great light! Really enjoy this light. Use the different light levels for everyday use and still have the high intensity for a first defense. 5Great product, fast shipping This is a great product if you are doing any type of night hiking. It's super bright and battery lasts. 5I prefer the Nitecore EC21 I love flashlights that take 18650 rechargeable batteries, like my Elektrolumens EDC-XML, but they tend to be too large for EDC use. There are a couple of newer models that are much smaller, not much larger than AA flashlights, the trade-off for the reduced size being lower light intensity due to heat dissipation concerns (around 500 lumens vs. 1000 on the full-sized ones).I bought this as a potential replacement for my Nitecore EC21 because it has a high-CRI Nichia LED, unlike the Nitecore. I must have misread their specs, as I was expecting a slightly smaller flashlight than the Nitecore, but it is actually a centimeter or two longer.I am not impressed with the build quality, unlike my other Eagletac flashlights (a couple of D25C and a SX25L3). The battery tube walls feel very thin, and the odd screw-in retaining ring for the belt clip feels incredibly flimsy. I am not sure how durable the plastic loop attachment will be in use. The UI is also not as good as the Nitecore (click on/off, twist for level). The beam quality itself is great, and the high-CRI LED definitely has a better color than the CREE on the Nitecore, but the Nitecore is far more solidly built and more compact. One upcoming light to consider is the Surefire Titan Plus, which will have a 300-lumen beam in an AA flashlight.Update (2017-04-10):I measured the light using a UPRtek CV600 spectrometer. The CRI is 89, not 92, and the spectrum is really strange (see uploaded measurements photo). 3Awesome Flashlight. Bought it to use for night photography ... Awesome Flashlight. Bought it to use for night photography for the neutral light it puts out and general use when hiking on the trail. 5Decent flashlight, but not perfect Pros:-Nichia 219B LED, high CRI (92+)-420 Lumens (max) is bright enough for everyday use.-Beam profile has a beautiful unique blue halo-Very smooth reflector-Lightweight construction seems very durable-Compact size (for an 18650 flashlight)Cons:(1) There is a rotatably slidable ring at the tail end that includes a loop hole for attaching the para-cord lanyard. The ring is made of plastic and feels a bit flimsy. I prefer that the ring was made of metal. I might consider breaking/cutting the plastic ring off.(2) I bought this flashlight for 18650 battery usage. However, due to the reverse polarity protection design, it requires batteries with "button top" (i.e., a protruding button on the positive terminal). My current 18650 batteries (Samsung 25R) are flat top and thus can't be used with this flashlight. I had to pop in two CR123As. I guess I should have read the user manual before purchasing.(3) The pocket clip is built-in (physically welded to) to the body and can't be adjusted or removed.(4) The tail switch button protrudes from the end just enough to create a slight wobble while tail-standing.Other Thoughts:If I could combine my Fenix PD32 2016 with a Nichia 219B or 219C LED, it would be the perfect flashlight. 3It's BRIGHT Bright, bright, bright! But you can tone it down for stealth, or if you don't want to blind your dog. You can really freak him out with the fast flashing strob, or if your in a jam press again and it sends out an SOS. Good metal case is solid with good etching for positive grip. Switch at end of light is well placed and had a solid feel. Very happy with this light. 5The perfect flashlight for light sculpting and lowlight photography I'll say it succinctly: I love this thing. After nearly a year's worth of research I now have purchased TWO of them... because TSA liked my first one so much, it got disappeared.1.) Built like a brick and totally pocketable.2.) outstandingly neutral color spread with a Color Rendition Index of 92 or better. This means your red rocks don't bleed red and your yellows don't go muddy and your green grass stays green when using this light as a sculpting tool for long exposure night photography. It's perfect in this regard.3.) It loses a star because of the sensitivity of the clicker for different settings. I would prefer a rotating, locking or self-seating position change at the head of the light but it's so good, I've adapted.4.) Even though the Nichia bulb takes an 800+ lumens light and brings it to 540 (small sacrifice for color accuracy), this light is also quite usable as a master flash light, if neccesary. Just don't use it at full beam unless you're working with focusing. She can get a little warm :) 4Beautiful True Colors Beautiful, powerful light that truly shows the colors. I compared this against several LED headlamps and it's like comparing daylight to florescent lighting - the colors (especially reds) totally pop with this light. Love it! And hope there's a headlamp version soon! 5Superb flashlight Every time I buy an Eagletac flashlight it's always a great experience this is no different, the quality of these flashlights is incredible! This particular one has a 219 Nichia emitter, which has a more natural light and is nice and bright! This is one of the best bargains for this type of flashlight, pick one up while you can! 5Excellent color rendition The best part about this little flashlight is that it has the Nichia 219 LED which has a neutral white tint, and excellent 92 color rendition index (CRI). That means that colors appear more natural and accurate compared to most LED flashlights which have a CRI around 60-something. The description doesn't mention the battery type -- these use 18650 rechargeable batteries (or 2x CR123). The best 18650 batteries are made by Orbtronic (Orbtronic is a Japanese brand). The only thing I don't like about this flashlight is the old interface with the twist to change the light level. Eagtac also recently introduced the DX30LC2 and DX30LC2-R (with USB charging port) which is very similar to this one with an improved user interface (button to change the light levels) but I'm not sure if those will have the wonderful Nichia 219 LED option. 5
