Mostly SucksWell the gray card on the back is useful. The calibration scripts generate a bazillion errors and are completely useless. The stand up tabletop frame is made from cheap paper and has no rigidity whatsoever. Completely useless. The color side is useful for eyeball comparisons if you have a calibrated monitor. It's also useful for checking the accuracy of a a scanner. Very cheaply made. The infor on the downloadable CD is poorly done and the scripts are missing a required file. Finally found that on the website of the author of the instructions. But none of the script stuff actually works in the real world. But, if all you want is a gray card to set white balance, it works well enough. That's all it's really good for. Gave it 2 stars because the gray card makes it not completely useless.2Fine enough for White Balance, not good for Color CalibationIf you need a cheap card for white balance, then this may work for you alright, but I got this thinking it a cheaper alternative for color calibration than a real ColorChecker. However, that is not the case.The item description says it comes with "free downloaded software" to create a DNG camera profile. If you dig through their website, you'll find a zip file you can download that includes a java script (not a plug-in) that can be used for calibration. However, it only works with the full version of Photoshop, it will not work with Lightroom or Photoshop Elements.The script is very finnicky, and will not work unless everything is perfect. Even with a properly exposed image, the script threw errors half the time I tried to run it, and the error description and the guide that comes with it do little to explain how to fix it. Even when it runs, all it does is adjust the RGB hue/sat sliders in Photoshop's "Camera Calibration" tab, and while you can save the settings as a .xmp, it is not a "DNG camera profile" as advertized, at least not as I understand it. After it runs it creates an overlay on your image to show you what the colors should look like, however, the 'calibrated' image doesn't appear any more accurate compared to the target colors than it did before calibration.The quality of the card itself could be better as well. The gray on the back is printed directly on the card, but the ink isn't very durable, and is already wearing off at a few points. On the front side, the color boxes are little pieces of paper glued on top of the black card. Some of the color boxes were glued on slightly crooked, which isn't a huge deal, but goes to show the level of quality control that they put into this. The front of the card was covered in paper dust inside the packaging, and the dark gray rectangle on one of my two cards was scuffed when it arrived. Also, the black card background that the color squares are glued on to is VERY reflective.For white balance it works well, but if that was all I wanted I would have gotten something else.2As good as describedtoo bad the website referenced doesn't work5Very dissatisfied. Cards useless .bad qaulityColor card have red streak straight thru white color on card . Cards an no good at all if thier is a red streak across the white with red on. Perfect for setting up my Dual Monitors that use to take several attempts and Hrs. Now I can do perfect set-up in 5-10 min... (not easy when dealing with LED Monitors that do not always give you 100% of the color spectrum). Now what I see is what I get.5Missing Software and Plug-InsI was looking for an inexpensive fix to color grade my photos correctly. The cards seemed fine and inexpensive. The issue is, it does not come with software like other options do. It claims you can download the scripts online, but their website routes you to a spam site. YouTube's last videos from DGK date back to 2011, so they're no help. Sadly, I'm past the return window, but I don't recommend purchasing the cards either way.1Forensic color chartThis was part of a necessary list. Comparing field samples with known colors for future reference.Seems to be fine.5Perfect In Every way, Buy It!Wow, these are perfect! Easy to use, include this in a scanned image or a photo-copy and you will be thrilled! A knock off of the MacBeth, but I don't need to keep spending extra cash to balance color reproductions. These are lightweight, easy to place under art on a copy stand or pin, tape to the artwork. Reasonable Price, perfect size. Highly recommend!5Good colorThe product looks good and is super affordable. The main issue is most of the color software is set up to work with Spyder or X-Rite ColorChecker products. The colors are not in the same order so you cant use their auto detect features to color grade automatically. I ended up buying the X-Rite Video Passport as a replacement. If you want to use as reference and do manual color mapping this will work.4It's okay, but needs a better cover / protection.I haven't tested it yet on my camera scopes, but out of the box I like that there are two, and each has a little protective piece of cardboard.I would have liked to have each of them in their own folding protective cover. Like a birthday card or something stiff and resilient that holds the DGK inside and lets me pack it away without worry that the individual tiles (they are glued onto the paper sheet) wouldn't get scratched or scraped off.I so much wanted a bigger version, but to get something that's just 9x11 costs $70. And that's just too much when you can get color accurate tiles at this price. I would pay a couple times more for a big version- like 11x17. Because I need it in a live camera situation and there is no "post" to crop in to the image and run calibration. It happens on the set, across multipel cameras, so something tiny means they have to all be very close and right next to each other. Something bigger would help tremendously.3
