Terrible quality mic Terrible quality mic. But you already knew that. When using the phantom power provided by my interface (instead of the one the 9v battery on the base provides), the noise is too much to even be usable, and sadly, the base draws power from the battery even when off; so I have to remove the battery every time I'm done using it for the day. It serves a purpose though. I use this to communicate from the recording booth / cabin to the musician(s) in the studio outside. 3Great Desk Mic The Pyle Home PDMIKC5 Tabletop gooseneck mic is an excellent buy.The sound quality is very good, if not a little bit on the bright side - nothing to worry about. All other aspects of this mic are professional looking. It has a nice solid weighted base which prevents tip overs. The base encloses the 9 volt battery - Pyle could've made it to take 2 AA batteries instead, to cut battery costs down. But I have used this mic over 10 hours now and the battery is still going strong, so I am hoping that this continues for a while, cause 9 volt batteries aren't cheap.The weighted base has a power switch and the mic screws on to this base. The mic head and the gooseneck look very professional, and it has an led ring around the top of the gooseneck that lights up when the mic is turned on.If you are looking for desk mics, I recommend these over the highball mics on table stands, for both PA, conference or audio/video recording. May work well in a TV environment also.Because of the small head, the mic doesn't block the face of the speaker, as is often the case with the larger highball mics.Pickup pattern is cardiod, so you don't get much feedback in PA system use - but it is a little more sensitive than uni highball mics, so be aware of mic vs speaker placement in order to minimize feedback when using with a PA system.All in all a great value in a push to talk mic - I might just order another for when I mic forums or discussion groups, etc.DId I say this can work well as a video mic also? Great pick-up pattern with a nice clean sound.The integrated mini windscreen also helps to minimize popping and breath noise. Keep it at least 5 to 7 ins from the mouth when talking, and you'll get great sound. 4perfect for a church pulpit! Connected easily to our antiquated sounds system. The mic picks up voice remarkably well - I need to push it further away from me tp keep it from garbling.This replaced an older standard mic on a thick gooseneck stand that was always too large and in the way.Our church has been very pleased - and we cannot believe how little the cost was to solve our audio issue.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for church pulpits! I needed 5 of them for a conference, they look great, sound great, and have a nice red ring that lights up when on,users were comfortable turning on and off the mic themselves for privacy. Only issue is that it doesn't use phantom power from mixer, just a 9-volt battery. In the end, they last a very long time, and allow you to get a great condenser mic with mixers without phantom power.I highly recommend this inexpensive, high quality, good sounding mic! 5Nice and clear, but stops working after just a month. It is an excellent quality mic, but it eats through batteries very quickly and after only a month of owning with extreme care and no damage to the mic, it has already stopped working. It's a horrible waster of money; I don't know if it was just this mic, but it started off with the red light stuck on like the mic was actually on, but it was OFF. It drains the battery more, and is maybe a sign of it going to break soon and stop working completely.The good: Excellent quality, nice, long cord, on and off switch, two on/off indicator lightsThe bad: Lights get stuck on even when the mic is off, mic stops working after only a month, drains battery extremely fast. 1Good "bones" if you plan to gut this and use it for a different project. So a few things for the more technical folks that might be considering this mic:-The XLR Output is NOT a balanced out. As you can see from photos of the interior of the unit, only pins 1 (shield) & 2 (Signal +) are connected pin three is no connection-The poorly translated "manual" claims the mic has "mulriple( sic) noise detect circuit", "multi circuits" and "compressing-expaning technology" though examination of the PCB shows a single flip flop chip that seems to be wired as a push-on push-off muting circuit. Nothing else on the PCB appears to be any kind of gain adjustment / noise reduction system.-The upper body is all plastic, the base is a rather heavy solid metal plate that keeps it pretty stable on the desk.I have gutted this mic by removing the PCB and will be adding my own phantom power circuit. I also will be adding an Arduino that will send MIDI mute/unmute to my digital mixer when the button is pressed. The Arduino will also take care of turning on/off the LEDs. The plastic case will make it possible to add a MIDI DIN jack and a power jack for the Arduino to the back of the mic housing. All in all it was a good "shell" to build up a mic just the way I want it. 3Great Value I purchased for a presenter podium to use with our portable Pyle speaker PA. The mute button was stuck on at first but Amazon support chat talked me through a simple test. The mic picks up ok for the price and will do nicely for a small group of 35. The weight is enough to be stable. I wonder if the red LED at the mic end will be a distraction for the group. We will see. Blessings for AlabamaFollow-up: After one use, the mute button failed to mute again. Will be exchanging for the same model. 3Great for recording on computers. I bought this mic for voice recording on my computer, and I'm really happy with it thus far. I had to turn down the mic boost from +30 to +10 so that it didn't pick up sound from my speakers; after that small adjustment, I was able to record my voice with zero background noise.This mic is battery-powered by a 9V battery, so you don't need to purchase phantom power or anything like that. However, you do need to acquire a 1/4'' to 1/8'' converter (if you plan to plug it directly into your computer), as this mic comes with an XLR to 1/4'' cord.It's great for the price and looks pretty sleek as well. It picks up my voice clearly and crisply. 5Do not let this get by you! This has quickly become one of the most important pieces that I have added to my desktop. I ran a USB cable to tap into my computer, and this Mike sits just behind my main monitor. I keep plenty of batteries available, and all I have to do is power up and change the settings for my sound input. The volume is awesome, and so was the clarity. Believe it or not, I have qualified this on Dragon speaks naturally software.I absolutely love the long boom. It reaches from behind my computer to within 5 inches of my face, while looking at my monitor. The materials appear to be top grade methyl and plastic cracked metal steel and plastic. I highly recommend this most versatile desk Mike. The price seem fair to me and it looks great on my desk. 5Use with AC power You can use these with AC power, if you're willing to get your hands a little dirty. I used a 9V AC adapter, some 9V pigtails, and a soldering iron to plug these bad boys into the wall. I have set this up and it works great. Solder the pigtails (red to +, black to -) onto the contacts in the mic base, and then you're good to go. For $27 you're not going to find anything close to these. We use them in a room with very bad acoustics, and the cardioid pattern has made our VC audio much better.If you're on a budget this is a workable option. Is it pretty?
