Customer Reviews

Bright and Rugged. Works very well, great finish, is PVC bottom end, and is longer that a standard sink flange. Holds water in the sink very well, is a push pull stopper. Be prepared for new plumbing under your sink because as stated above this flange is longer that a stock flange. PVC is heavy duty and after about six months or so of use not one problem. All of the plumbing under my sinks are PVC so I have no problem using a sink flange that has PVC. After the flange is installed in your sink, all you see is the beautiful finish that Delta provides. The best I remember this flange has a lifetime warranty and I have used the Delta lifetime warranty on faucets and you could not ask for better service, no questions asked, and new replacement parts shipped. Great company to do business with. 5Looks Nice The visible portion is nice looking and it comes with a decent strainer, but the overall quality is a bit lacking. When it was installed, the first thing our plumber noticed was that the drain connector was made of plastic, and he warned that it would probably leak. This isn't exactly something you want to hear from a person you're paying $300 to install a $40 part -- and it's definitely not something I would expect from a company like Delta, that's been manufacturing plumbing supplies longer than I've been alive. When compared with the original flange (which probably cost $10, 22 years ago), the new flange seems flimsy and very much like it's not meant to last. 3Delta Once Made a Good Product Strainer is superior to any you can get at a local "home improvement center." Installed easily but its taller size presented a challenge aligning drain from sink disposal unit. Also surprised by the use of plastic rather than metal for under-sink attachment cone, Seems sturdy enough though and won't corrode if dampened by condensation.Revision: after less than a month, the ball bearing intended to hold the strainer in either the up or closed position began to rust. That is, it is NOT stainless steel as are other parts of the drain, so electrolytic action is causing the bal to deteriorate. I did not discover this in the short time Amazon permitted return or replacement. $40 literally down the drain. A call to the manufacturer might be in order. 1It's not, but almost appears to be a Delta knockoff Just finished a kitchen renovation. One of the last things to go in was my Delta touch faucet. We went higher end on most everything we had installed. At initial glance it looked great and the strainer match the faucet. Overall though the quality (initial opinion ) was outright poor. Our plumber pointed out that the drain connection was actually plastic. was that the drain connector was actually plastic and suggested we would be calling them to repair a leaky drain in the short future. Not what I expected from a company like Delta. Seriously, the warrantees are great but if you have to pay a significant amounts of money to repair or replace a part that is warranted, what good is the warranty? The plumber loaded it up with potty and we are all hoping for the best. The new flange seems flimsy- if I was a gambling man, I would say that the odds of seeing my plumber again in the next year I probably pretty high. Then again, I am a gambler. I just let the guy install this Delta strainer. I hope my opinions of this product steer you in one direction or another. Unfortunately giving it three stars really on the fence. When I buy this product again, no. The plumber was there I needed it installed and I wasn't about to put off the plumber or have him come back. I cannot give this product to stars because it hasn't dis-proven itself. I will be sure to update this in a year. 3Very easy to close and open the drain. This strainer uses a round spindle with a spring-loaded detent ball to hold it in place. Thus, when you want to close the drain, you simply push down. You don't have to rotate it to a certain position. You don't have to push hard. Just a gently push and it closes off the drain. As other reviewers have said, it uses a plastic drain housing underneath the sink, but it's very solid, and I don't see that as a problem. This drain should last for years. I've used mine several months now, and I'm extremely happy with it. 5Reduced to Three Stars They leak past the strainer when closed. Shouldn t do that for the price.Original review (was 5 stars):It may seem nuts to pay this amount for a strainer, but if you want to match your Delta faucet, it is worth it. Installation tip: If installing in a cast iron sink, use plumbers putty, not the included gasket. 3Doesn't match Delta faucet Although this strainer basket is marked "champagne bronze," the same name as the coordinating Delta Trinsic pull-down kitchen faucet, the colors do not match. The basket is much lighter in color. Both still look passable once installed in a white sink. The basket itself works well so far, closes easily with a push and pops up easy again. I'm still wondering whether it's a genuine Delta part based on other comments, and the color. Unfortunately the flange has to be permanently installed with the plumbing, you can't just drop it in at the last second, and I didn't have the time hold up finishing my kitchen over the time it would take to return this part and order another. 3Looks are deceiving Beautiful piece, and bought it despite the warnings. Unfortunately, like others have said, just a couple months after install and the ball was rusted and pushed in, so the drain is stuck in the down position. After a few days, the ball is gone... "money down the drain". Seriously Delta? 2Not Bad But Better Now As others have mentioned, the upper visible parts are coated brass and very good quality. Lower housing and nut under the sink are plastic but this is a durable grade and should hold up well. Unfortunately, the lower plastic nut holding the tailpiece (purchased separately) should be checked 6 to 8 months after installation. Plastic expands/contracts more than metal and this nut may work loose over time due to exposure to hot water. Check its tightness a few months after it's installed, tighten if necessary and you should be good.Update 12/9/18As others have mentioned, there is a design/material flaw with the upper basket strainer. It involves the spring loaded ball bearing at the lower post that is supposed to either keep the basket up while allowing water to drain or allow you to push the basket down thus blocking the drain. The ball bearing will rust and dislodge, letting the basket stay in the closed position only. Each time this has happened, I called Delta and they sent a replacement unit. My unit was originally installed in 2016 and I am on my 5th or 6th replacement basket and I currently need a new one for the same reason. To correct this, all Delta has to do is use a nonferrous ball bearing and why this has not been done is a mystery because I wrote them about it almost 2 years ago. The cost a better ball bearing cannot be that economically significant.Update 12/31/18I received a another warranty replacement of this basket about 3 weeks ago and it appears Delta has corrected the issue with the rusting ball bearing. With the prior units, signs of rust were visible within a week but the new one shows none. Perhaps Delta substituted a stainless steel bearing in place of the old one. 4Junk Purchased this to match the new faucet we had installed during our kitchen remodel. Worked fine at first. NOW, after just a few months, you can hardly push it down and have to get a pair of pliers to pull it up. Tried to contact Delta, but their handy, dandy little customer service form would not go through. So, I'm stuck with a very expensive flange and basket that work like a bargain basement brand. 1
