    My boyfriend's favorite stylewatch My boyfriend's favorite style watch. He can't wear a regular wrist watch because he has allergies to the metals and allergies used in their construction. He loves the idea that he can just flip this up and is right side up to him. This is probably like our 3rd or 4th purchase of this style watch. He's kind of hard on them, prone to crashing about around vehicles and outdoor activities, but for they have proven tough and a good time keeper. Once this one becomes too scratched and dinged, we'll be making another purchase. 5The Microlight is RED! I really think this is a great little watch. You can tell when you open it that it's quality made, has a cool little tin box it comes in and it's pretty heavy. I did return the product because I was hoping to use it as a watch for my stethoscope and the microlight as a pen-light substitute, but because the light is red (and due to the weight) this isn't an option. Because I didn't see in any description that the light isn't white, I wanted to write a review so this doesn't happen to anyone else! 4This would be a great watch if not for the battery I gave this watch to my brother as a gift. It's been about six months and the battery is dead. We can't find a way to open the thing to replace the battery. Went to the Dakota website that makes the watch and since we don't have a warranty, they want $15 to replace the battery no including the cost of shipping. I'm going to go on a search for a different watch because I'm not going to pay $15+ to replace a watch battery every six months. 3Great since purchase June 2015. Great since purchase June 2015. Never had to change the time. Bought this one after purchasing 4 similar watches - other brands. All of the others broke at the belt clip in spite of having a rugged look or claim of toughness. So now I have this functional watch, and a bunch of pricey broken pocket watches. Could not figure out the real reason for the laser, but it has one. Other than that, it has been just what I needed. 5Great idea! Has flaws. DON'T DROP IT! I really like this watch. I bought it to take on 2 trips to the caribbean. The first trip was to St John USVI on 4/20/14. I used the watch every day for 8 days. It did well hiking, and snorkeling in sand and salt water. The watch was submerged in salt water every day for several hours while I snorkeled and swam. We averaged 3 different beaches a day. And many of those we hiked to. When I got back to NYC after our trip I noticed some wear a tear on the front. But no big deal. I even wore it when out and about in NYC.I just got back from Antigua on 7/13/14. On the first night I was there on 7/4/14. I accidently dropped the watch on a marble floor from about 2-3 feet while walking. THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK! It came completely apart. The front glass came off with a rubber gasket as well as the back cover. The second hand still moves but the other hand just dangle. It was a bummer.THE WATCH IS BEYOND SENDING BACK. I do like the design and idea of this watch. But the craftsmanship is not great. Then again it was only $34. I will by another, but I'll try another brand. 3Well made. Good fit & finish. But kinda heavy. These are cool and are a great gift. My thought was for one to clip onto a backpack, etc. They are well made and have excellent fit & finish, but are kinda heavy. They weigh in at 3 oz, which doesn't sound like much, but at 3"x2" feels hefty. They have no stop watch function, but watch face is attractive as any wrist watch. Also a nice built in LED light. Water resistant to 100ft. Nice carabiner style clip. The LED is a red light not white. Not expected, but probably a good thing.Would give 4 stars if it was a little lighter. 3Internal failure after 9 months of normal wear. I have had this watch for 9 months now. I liked it because it seemed tough. Wore it to work in construction during most of that time as well as hiking, backpacking, and mountaineering. It got a little wet but I don't think it was ever submerged and water never got into it. The one drawback is how heavy it is, though I suppose that is to make it more durable.Last week the minute hand came loose and now it just spins freely. The watch has a 5 year warranty but since I live on the West Coast I have to pay to send the watch back along with another $9.95 for shipping and handling. I paid $30 for the watch here on Amazon. Kind of a bummer. Almost tempted to just try another brand. 2Solid Feel But Doesn't Glow I like how solid the watch feels. I got this as a gift from my kids. I have gone camping with this three times in the last two months. I have also used it as an everyday watch. In the hands it has weight and feels solid. I like almost everything about the watch including the red LED light which is brighter than I would have thought from the online description. The only problem with it is that the face is supposed to be glow in the dark, mine doesn't. This was more disappointing to my kids than to me which is why this watch doesn't get five stars. 4Dead or dying I love them still I love this watch but have had a number of them suddenly stop on me. I took it to a jeweler and they could find nothing wrong BUT why do they stop all of a sudden and there is NOTHING wrong with the battery? I am getting a little disturbed by this. I have quite a collection of dead Dakotas!!! 3Nice watch, not incredibly durable Worked great until recently. I'm a farmer and was looking for something extremely durable and it's hard to wear wrist watches with the kind of manual work I need to do.Unfortunately after two months of wear and tear the watch no longer keeps time. The minute hand seems to be detached and the knob to set time only moves the hour hand.Too bad, I really liked this watch but will need to find something that is more durable. If you're looking to buy it I do recommend, just not if you're going to be banging against things a lot. 3
