Customer Reviews

Repurpose your netbook. DDR2 667Mhz (pc2-5300) is what most of the second generation netbooks take. I wanted a good brand. Crucial works, so does kingston, and samsung. No A-tech.Plopped into my eeepc 901 and i can really power house it now for server functions.I understand that the atom processors aren't very powerful, but you need to think about what you can get away with them in application first to see their potential. I can run a quake 3 server, i can run quake 3 at medium settings, i can surf the net, watch hd video (depends on how it was encoded). So, this thing i figured would make a decent multitasking server. I turned mine into a router, vpn router, file share, and remote connect host. And it can do a bunch more as well even without the ram upgrade. As far as the asus eeepc's go, buy a higher quality ac adapter compared to the crappy stock one that will overheat itself to death if you want a server or router. 5Updated my client's 7 year old Mac from slow to Super Fast in 3 minutes Hi,My neighbor is on fixed income and couldn't afford to spend $1800 to buy a new iMac so I suggested that I upgrade her memory so that she could upgrade her 2006 Tiger machine to Lion. Even though the Apple manual said it could only take 3 GB, there were two slots and I purchased one Crucial DDR2 667MHz chip and removed the two Apple 500 MB chips that came with her original purchase. Since it worked flawlessly, I went back on the Internet and Amazon had the best price and quickest delivery, saving me $8 shipping and getting the item to me in 1 day with prime. She was thrilled to get a total of 4GB and Crucial's RAM is ideal, especially at Amazon's low price (best out of intense searching online). The week before I couldn't get a good deal anywhere--it seemed like once Amazon stores realized I was bargain-hunting they later offered a super deal I couldn't refuse! Thanks Amazon! 5Easy to install, works perfectly in old netbook with only 1 slot, 1G memory Have used Crucial's scanner before with perfect results. It's great to identify the correct memory for your PC, laptop, or even an old Toshiba Windows 7 netbook like the one I've had for 5-6 years. I was about ready to get rid of it, but it's so much easier to take on a trip that a heavy laptop, so I ran the scanner program and doubled the memory. It's not used for much except email, storing pictures, occasional e-books and games, but it was worth it to me. Thanks, Crucial! 5Upgrade your Eee PC 900 Used this to max out the RAM on an EeePC 900. Running 4 GB increased its ability to use Firefox from near-impossible all the way up to not-good, which is actually a huge improvement for a decade old machine. As with most laptops I've worked on, installation was super easy: just open the undercarriage and pop the stick in. (Power off, of course).Bada bing, bada boom, now your underpowered old laptop is less slow and unstable. It's still slow and unstable, but noticably less so. Enjoy! 5The right stuff for my Lenovo Z61t laptop If you're not sure what memory goes into your computer, [...] has a "memory advisor tool" to tell you. Very easy to use.Upgrading the memory is the cheapest and fastest way to increase the performance of your laptop. I had 1 Gb of installed memory, and the most that Windows XP Home will recognize is 3 Gb. After a little research, I found out that I didn't need to install matched pairs, and I could install a 2 Gb memory chip and keep my existing 1 Gb chip to max out the memory.Installing the memory module was easy. I went to the support page for Lenovo, and they have instructions (and even a video) to show you how to do it. I expect that most major brand-name computer manufacturers likewise have support pages that instruct on how to remove and install memory modules. For me, all I had to do was remove the battery, unscrew four screws, pop out the palm rest (that was the hardest part), unhook the connector cable from the palm rest to the system unit, and insert the memory module until it snapped into place. Then I reversed the steps and was done. After installing the memory, I ran some memory tests. MemTest86 is one of the leading memory testing programs for free, and you can download for free from their website. If you are a Windows user, you can also download and use Windows Memory Diagnostic from Microsoft's webite for free. Windows Memory Diagnostic runs some more thorough tests. Use a search engine to find these programs.Given my five-star rating of the product, the outcome of the tests should be obvious: no errors. 5Perfect for Asus Eee PC 1000/Linux I own the ASUS Eee PC 1000 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB Solid State Drive, 20 GB Eee Storage, Linux, 6 Cell Battery) Pearl White.About a half-hour ago this Crucial 2GB 667 Mhz CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM Laptop Memory card arrived in the mail. I opened up and removed the small plastic cover on the bottom of my computer, released the clips holding the original supplied 1 GB memory card in place (when you release the clips, the card pops up for easy removal), replaced the original card with this one, replaced the cover, inserted the battery, and turned on the computer. This new memory card was instantly recognized.I did NOT have to press the F2 or F10 key. I do not know why some others had to do this (and I do not doubt their experiences) but, immediately after I installed the card and turned on the computer in the normal fashion, I checked the memory available - and there was my 2 GB of RAM showing. The entire mechanical installation process is quite simple and straightforward. The only tool necessary is a small Phillips-head screwdriver (mine came in a screwdriver set from Dollar Tree!) to remove the screws. Please note that, for the Asus Eee PC 1000 line, there are several YouTube videos which show in detail the whole process which takes no more than two or three minutes. The hardest part? Carefully removing the plastic cover on the back of the computer. The screws remove easily but there are several internal plastic clips on the sides of the cover (not visible) which must be released gently so as not to break them (they do seem robust, however).Once the cover is removed, actually removing and replacing the memory is simple.I have used Crucial memory cards in other laptop computers over the years and I have always found them to be completely reliable. Therefore I highly recommend this memory card, especially for Asus Eee PC 1000 owners. 5Excellent memory module Bought this for an Acer Aspire One. Doubled the memory from 1gb to 2gb. A little surprised as I expected to notice a bit of a difference in performance. There is a slight difference, but it is very slight. Regarding the SODIMM, it is working fine. I would purchase it again without hesitation.Although I have not used the netbook a whole lot as yet, it has been working 100%. I should mention the netbook is/was my daughters. She now has a tablet she uses in place of the netbook. I am going to reload the netbook and will hopefully notice the performance gains I originally expected. There are a number of extraneous programs she has loaded on the netbook which I believe are operating in the background degrading the performance. 5Working great so far on my Compaq c500 I've only had the ram a few hours, but so far it is working just fine. There was one thing that made me question if the ram was actually Crucial or not though and that is the chips on the stick say Qimonda. I went to the Crucial website and began a live chat with a tech and was told that the ram I had was correct. So, I was happy about that. The packaging was done well and the stick even arrived early too. So, I got to place two new things on my laptop today. Really, these things are about all I can say about this item. It's working as it should. 5Better PC performance Product came well packaged. Be sure to follow the two step instructions; i.e., power off and unplug the PC and use a wrist strap so as not to damage the memory with an electrostatic discharge. The memory was easy to install in my Acer AspireOne. It recognized the 2GB memory upon checking it in the Bios. The PC is performing much better. Definitely worth the small investment in this upgrade. 5Worked maxing out old notebook I used a pair of these to bring an old XP notebook to its max ok so only sees 3gb but i did so for the sake of 2 channel parity. I know most computer memory works just fine and i have used many brands over the years i just like dealing with one brand when pairing up memory and if i think i might need support for a bad stick and dont have extras like i did in the past and for multi channel support the sticks need the exact same specs and i have never had a single bad stick of Crucial memory. 5
