Customer Reviews

Great tool that's designed well This tool is well worth the money! ($20.19) If you use nylon ties, this is the tool for you! It will pull the tie very tight and cut off the excess with ease. From 3/8" width to the the smallest it works great.I had no problem securing 16" insulated flex ducting to ceiling vents so tight it was impossible for air to leak or for the ducting to ever work its way off. This tool only needs one hand operation leaving your other hand free to align and position the tie exactly where you want it. 5Wiss WT1 Hand Cable Tie Tensioning Tool Good solid performing tool and good value for money. I'm using it to tension big 30" and 36" zip ties on my old attic flex ductwork, which I'm reconditioning. This tool makes short work of tightening the zip ties at connections like elbows and tees. It tightens them up super snug, then cuts off the excess cleanly when you pull on the second small lever. You'd never get the same result by hand tightening and this tool does it all in seconds w/o the need to search for a second tool (pliers) to do the cut off. Highly recommended if you've got a lot of zip tie work to do. 5Awesome tool for zip ties This thing allows you to tighten the zip ties another 3-5 notches beyond finger tightening. With some of the smaller zip ties you have to be careful not to overtighten because it will rip the zip tie in half pretty easily. 5Spend the extra money and go with Malco Don t waste your money! worked good the first time after that it was hit or miss on whether it would grab ahold of zip tie when tensioning. Piece broke off within the first week of using it. Spend more time trying to get it to work than actually doing the work itself. 1Makes em tight. Great product Used on air conditioning ductwork. Works splendidly! Tight fit. 5Heavy, rugged tool! Disclosure: This is the first tool I've ever bought or used for installing cable ties, so I do not have much experience with them. I am very pleased with this one, though!I started out shopping for a pistol-grip-style cable tie tensioner but then I spotted this one and changed my mind. Largely due to this tool's all-metal construction and some warnings about other types of tools jamming in certain conditions. This tool is awesome. I am impressed with the build quality. The body is made of good, thick folded steel with a tough-looking powder-coat type finish. The cutting blade is honed into a nice thick slab of the same steel that makes up the body. The plastic/vinyl grips are thick and look like they'll last a while. The springs are impressive as well- they are made of much thicker wire than I expected. They have strong, steady return force and seem like they'll hold up for a long while.Though I have only used this tool to apply a few dozen cable ties, I'm in love. You can crank those things TIGHT with this tool and cut 'em off clean. It has worked equally well for me with tiny, narrow four inch cable ties and big ole' 16 inch black cable ties.TIP: If you squeeze the handles together before you squeeze the cutting lever, you'll be able to cut cable ties off flush at the 'buckle' with no protruding tabs. Makes for a nice clean job!NOTE: I thought this was made in USA but I called Apex Tool Group this morning (Parent company of Wiss) and was told that this particular tool is made in Taiwan. Nevertheless- it's a rugged tool. And a final parting note: This is an adult tool- it requires somewhat large and somewhat strong hands to operate comfortably and safely. If you are looking for a cable tensioning tool that children can use, this is not it. 5annoying that it doesn t cut flush unless you tension the ... Worked really well for a fence we just installed, however, annoying that it doesn t cut flush unless you tension the zip tie as others have mentioned. Not always space to do that. Watch your knuckles on this. Zip tie only goes in one way and easy to slam your hand against the fence or whatever you re working on. Overall, a good tool that is durable and will last, so 4 stars. 4This thing is awesome! You probably know what it is for if ... This thing is awesome! You probably know what it is for if you're looking at it, a little pricey but as a professional automotive technician, I know that you need to spend money to make money. I used this to redo the duct work in my apartment, I must have tugged until my fingers bled before and this thing still tightened the 36" zip ties I wrapped around the flex duct that I installed previously. This streamlined the installation of the rest of the duct work, should have bought from the get-go. 5Handy for when you need it This is a well crafted tool but it takes some practice to use properly. It's easy to overdo it when tightening and break the tie straps. And you have to engage the cutter at just the right time to get a flush cut with no sharp edge poking out. I'll keep this in my tool bag for those times when I need to get those ties really tight. 4Wiss has always been a good brand to buy from for me Threw this tool away unfortunately. Wiss has always been a good brand to buy from for me. I work in HVAC and have to install duct work from time to time. This tool has a hard time fastening on to panduits when trying to tighten them on to ducts, is very difficult to cut through the 36" panduits that are fairly standard, and is overall uncomfortable in the hands when working. I will be using the Stanley fatmax panduit gun from lowes from now on as it cures all the problems I stated above for a cheaper price. 1
