Customer Reviews

Groovin' Radio HarnessesI also have the DOUBLE ADJUSTA-PRO RADIO CHEST HARNESS that I use without issues with USDA FS Bendix King DHPX5102X radios (the BIG ones). It is necessary to re-tie the elastic cords to their furthest extent to get the snap to reach. I bought the Pro II for my personal radios so I would not have to remove the accessories I have zip tied to the other radio harness. I got the Pro II for the larger pouch, as I planned to have both a VHF radio to monitor fire and communicate with my field going colleagues at PSW-Riverside plus a UHF unit to monitor MDP volunteer activities in the SJ Ranger District, to hold my mobile phone and a couple of spare batteries the Double Pro would not handle. The little light for reading and writing at night is a nice feature as well. I have worn the Double Pro from 07:00-17:00 without removing it, never experiencing any discomfort while diving through chaparral and crawling on the ground looking for orange plastic stakes.5Love this productLove this product! I'm now organized with my radio and GPS - easy to get to and keeps in place! I also bought the Conterra Roo Pouch to add beneath it! Carries my paper and pens, snack, and extra batteries! Highly recommend!5Has good space for both Tetra and VHF with phone in ... Works perfectly. Has good space for both Tetra and VHF with phone in the middle space.Arrived on time 5It looks pretty small on my chestWay smaller than I was imagining it to be. I am 6'1' and around 250 pounds. It looks pretty small on my chest. The front pouch is not very big and the light is pretty cool except in the instructions it says it you can have it with red and white at the same time and that is not true on mine.3Not a good harnessHarness area is too small to hold enough stuff. Straps are too wide and fit too close together and rub my neck causing irrtitation. Wish I would have returned it.2Very functionalWorked well this fire season, its a bit hotter on your chest than the others Ive had. I really like the notepad pouch, I finally could keep up with my pen. Adjusts easy and fits well.4Good product but...I have been considering this harness for sometime, since I have to utilize both a MA/Com (Harris) 700P and Bendix King DPHX5102 as a Staging Area Manager. The harness suspension fits very nicely and I find that the wide shoulder straps do not twist up when I put the harness on (a problem I have experienced with a less expensive harness). The materials and finish are first rate. This is the second Conterra product I have purchaced and both are very well made. I find that the 700P fits very nicely but the BK is too tall for the elastic strap that goes over the top of the radio. I have an Infinity P-1000 as a back up to the BK but the poor little radio is swallowed up in the pocket (and I can't plug in the hand mic). If you are using commercial (or mil spec) radios which are between 5" and 7" tall this is a fantastic harness. If your radio is taller than 7" then you are better off with a more traditional wildland angled chest harness.4Great harness, but some downsidesI bought this harness because it seemed the most compatible with wildland fire, search and rescue, and amateur (HAM) radio uses - its acceptable but definitely not ideal for all of those uses. Here's my first impressions:It is a quality built product that can adjust to any size of radio up to a Bendix King. The light in front is also nice and bright for its size and the center pouch can hold compact trauma shears, gloves, and/or a battery pack slightly larger than an i-phone. This is also probably the best harness on the market for accommodating the small HAM radios such as my Wouxun KG-UV6 along with a commercial-size radio on the other side. The downsides are that if you use a radio with an antenna longer than around 7-8", you'll have to fish the antenna through the included or homemade "keeper" straps (elastic bands on the shoulder straps) so it doesn't poke your eye out if you turn or look down. The included keepers don't work well with the stiff-base 15" antenna on my HAM radio, so I had to make larger straps. I don't use the antenna keepers with my Motorola and Vertex fire radios (7" antennas) and don't have an issue. The other, and largest downside for me is the shoulder straps. When properly fit, the adjustment buckle sits near the top of my shoulders, so wearing it with a pack is literally a pain (although possible with adjustments/extra padding). If you weren't wearing a pack this would not be an issue, and it is likey unique to someone of my very slight body size. Additionally, the waist- belt is elastic so if you don't want the strap "junction" riding up to the back of your neck you need to have it fairly snug when packing two large radios and a extra battery pack. So, overall this is a high quality product that has a few downsides depending on what you're using it for.4Well designed. Well made. I am not a ...Well designed. Well made. I am not a big fan of most chest packs, where the radio is carried at an angle. Not only is that awkward, it reduces the effectivity of the radio antenna.5I love it!I love this Item. I have been using it for a week now. I work at a oil refinery as a safety representative. I have two radios on me all the time and this has made it much easier to carry them and keep things organIzed. The light is a nice touch and the pouch is great for holding all your pens and notepads. The velcro is amazing. You can definitely tell this thing was made in the USA!5Overall happyFits well ( I am 2x) fits small and medium radios well. Have not tried a large a radio. Easily adjustable.5Five Stars Great radio harness, very helpful on brush fires when managing multiple radios. 5
