Customer Reviews

Easy to apply. Looks good. Fill cracks first if they are wide. It's very easy to apply. I used GALSakreteBLKTop Filler (see the link below) to fill the cracks to create a flat surface before applying Driveway Medic. I waited a week for the filler to cure, and then apply the Medic.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001B174U6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1It's supposed to be 9 feet, but it is more like 8 1/4 feet due to some wrinkles. When I applied the Medic to my driveway first time, the surface looked nicely saturated with tar, but somewhat wrinkled. So, for the second time, I stretched the Medic and applied. That was a mistake. The stretched area shows fibers and does not look saturated with tar. I think stretching thinned the tar on the surface. I would suggest that you simply unroll the Medic on driveway without stretching. Also, I used a rope as a guide to create a straight line so that the Medic is applied exactly the way I wanted. 4It works well Living in Michigan i deal yearly with the freeze cycles. I get cracks every year and nothing stops that. This product is the best i've ever used to cover the cracks. After i lay it down i seal coat on top of it. That forms a good patch that will last several years. I now use the tape instead of Hot Crack filler in some places. The tape does not pull up.I have some tape that's been down for many years. Probably it's worse enemy is the snow plow but with 12 inches of new snow you do use the plow.I would say the best thing you can do is clean the driveway well before doing anything. Get all the dirt off with a power washer. This is really where the real work comes into play. My driveway is 30 years old but you'd never know that. 5Easy to use! Very easy to use and did a good job covering small holes and cracks. My only complaint is it didn't go far! 5It sticks ! I applied mine in late spring ( 2018 ) in several places where I have cracks. The heat of the summer weather in New England helped with creating a perfect bond to my blacktop. It looked good , but I was concerned with the winter cold, wet /snow, ice & sand . I kept an eye on it all winter. Not one piece moved/peeled or came up. Plowing and the snow blower did not affect the application . It's now one year later and I give it five stars ! Just follow directions 5This stuff is great...for certain applications... My driveway, the last 20 feet of its 150 foot length runs downward and over poorly drained soil. The means that water is forcing its way up through from below and several years ago a few cracks grew rapidly into a spiderweb of crumbling pavement with the foundational sand eroding away underneath. So, every year, I lay this stuff down over temp repair jobs on leaks that sprang up in the spring. I then apply pavement trowel patch over the tape and finish with sealer. Drive then looks like new and with the successive build ups I have made over the years I am ahead of the game and requiring less tape and repair each year. Better than paying $2000 to have the area reworked for sure. Takes about 2 hours of my time total. I can tell you that using this stuff like the instructions indicate equals fail. It will not stick to the surface through New England winters and you will find reviewers indicating such. But used in conjunction with trowel patch, which is really just a very thick sealer, it works quite well to cover cracks and fissures. Hope this helps. BTW, I think this came via Ace Hardware Outlet whom I have had spotty service from. Prime members should receive product in two days. Took a week, but whatever. And that was not the first time they had a brain cramp in shipping. 5Blowing With The Wind I installed this product over an area on my driveway that has a reoccurring crack. Cleaned off the driveway, cleaned out the crack and filled crack with filler. Then, after the repaired cracks were dry, I installed this fabric as a protective measure. All was sealed up well and seemed great until our area received several consecutive days of heavy rains. I was blowing leaves off the driveway and the fabric blew off as if it was never attached to the driveway (which it was). I'm not impressed, this was a complete waste of money and I can never recommend this product. 1Cpi Driveway Medic 6 " X 9 ' ... I have had trouble trying to get it to stick to my county applied asphalt. I understand the area around the crack has to be cleaned. But, if I have to pressure wash the area first, I would just as soon use a caulking tube of asphalt filler. Much easier and quicker. And, for large cracks, the open area would need to be filled in before placing this item over the crack. This item does work great on my water main cover cap. I broke the plastic lid on it and used this to cover the broken plastic hole cover. It has held up well in that use. I'm glad it worked well for others. In my case, I just could not get it to stick to the asphalt/gravel covering on my driveway. One other thing, this is not a thin layer cover. It will noticeably show on the driveway. I can see uses for this, just not on my driveway. 2Terrific stuff. When we built our new house, the property owners' association mandated that we use plastic rather than concrete for the shallow culvert pipe beneath the end of the new driveway. As a result of flexing, the overlying asphalt predictably soon developed a thin, linear crack the entire width of the driveway centered over the culvert pipe. I needed a patch that was flexible and wide enough to stabilize the edges of the crack, so I applied this stuff. I waited for a hot, sunny summer day to apply the patch. Meticulously cleaned the area beforehand. Very sticky stuff so plan placement carefully -- once it's stuck, it's stuck. Went over it with a layer of seal coating emulsion. The patch has been in place for two years of summer heat and winter snow and ice and looks like the day I put it down with no evidence of dehiscence or further deterioration of the crack. As a precaution, I shovel snow off of it along its long axis rather than risk catching the edge with the snowblower. Excellent product. 5Good idea, some execution issues Seems to do the job better than various liquids and trowel materials I have tried. There should still be a repair asphalt that is finer sand-based rather than everything being gravel-based.. With the MediC, I used pourable crack filler in the crack, then laid the MediC strip down over the filler after it had dried. Then I sealed the strip's edges (our driveway is on a hill) with a more solid filler. The two things they could do a lot better are a) make the package 6" by 13 feet wide (a fairly standard single car width driveway) rather than 9 feet wide so that you don't have to patch end-to-end; and b) upgrade the sticky side even more so that it stays down on rougher surfaces. The sticky side is uncomfortably like plain tape, not even as forgiving and conforming as duct tape.Despite these flaws, it is still among the better asphalt repair products I have encountered. We'll see how it survives the Winter and snow, shoveling, etc. 4Been working great for several years My brother used this on his driveway years ago, and it's still doing just fine! I had a towing company damage my driveway and had to have it professionally done. Problem: the "fix" was a long rectangular asphalt patch that began to separate on all the edges. I complained, but they came back and fixed a different area that the town is responsible for! I was annoyed but, it was just too much trouble to continue quarreling about it. So I bought this. I am disabled so I need quick and easy fixes. This tape was just that! I cut off the strips and put them over the separating edges. Problem solved! I only wish that they made the strips longer because these were too short to go in one continuous strip. I had to use two strips and I didn't want to have any open areas. I'm afraid water and ice will get through where the strips meet. I bought a different sealer to seal that area. 5
