Customer Reviews

Fantastic, sharp wide field of view. Less expensive than competing Nagler eyepieces that I looked at. Pros:* Sharp across majority of field.* Wonderful wide field of view that spoils you from using your other eyepieces.* Huge eye opening, especially compared to Plossel eyepieces of similar magnification* Okay using glasses, but you can still get a wider field of view without them.* Solid constructionCons:* Weight. With this and a barlow on my 8-in dobsonian, if observing objects low on the horizon you will probably have to tighten the alt friction a bit. I've got an XT8 Plus with adjustable friction, so it holds fine, but at the expense of smoother alt adjustment due to greater friction required. 5Disappointed Had this for a year now, and had high hopes for it. But it's not nearly as good as several others I have from other makers. I'll be blunt, I'm sadly disappointed. It's not clear or sharp, fuzzy at best, doesn't matter if I'm looking at the moon, stars, open clusters, globular clusters, planets, it's just no good. And I have a Celstron 8" HD CGEM, so it's not the scope, besides my other eye pieces work fine. 2B-E-A-utiful!!! Got mine used and works like a charm. It's like looking out a space ship window. I could look through the 7mm much longer with its 82 degree field of view. My eyes aren't bother by long term exposure.Make sure you're scope is properly aligned and it'll be you're new best friend 5High Quality & Well Made!!! For most (the casual user), and especially the beginner, this Celestron Luminos series eyepiece is what you should use (for under $100.00)!It is of much higher quality than the lesser eyepieces, that usually accompany a new telescope.Plus besides the higher quality lenses they use, the Luminos series has spectacular eye relief, and has a much wider AFOV, (apparent field of view of "82" degrees). With your new telescope, most all manufacturers will include 1 to 2 eyepieces, usually of lower quality, and most always at or near 52 degrees, to 56 degrees, AFOV.These are as easy as any made, to use, regarding the adjustable eye relief. They are an excellent choice, until you've decided to commit to much higher quality equipment (and have become highly proficient with telescopes), such as a large Dobsonian telescope, smart/computer controlled telescopes, and then the much higher priced "Explore Scientific", or "Televue" eyepieces. For me, being a casual user, the Luminos eyepieces are as much as I need, and have found them to be Celestrons best eyepiece, for the money. I really do love these!High quality and affordable! 5Luminos eyepieces used to be decent but looks like the recent batches are pretty bad I got three of these eyepieces, even one replaced by celestron rma, and all of them have plastic pieces inside left from manufacturing that's big enough to scratch the coating on the glasses when they move. Luminos eyepieces used to be decent but looks like the recent batches are pretty bad. Stay away. 115mm is good, 7mm is bad Purchased both 7mm and 15mm.For 15mm:Reasonable quality for this price point. I use this on 6 inch SCT and this gives around 100X magnification, tested immediately on the same day of delivery and saw Jupiter with all 4 satellites as sharp bright point objects, the great red spot clearly visible, and multiple gas bands. Good eye relief and easily see the whole 82 degree FOV without glasses. For 7mm:Got two of these, both with visible dust / debris in the field of view, one even got finger print on the lens and box is already cut open. A bad batch for sure. 3Luminos is a big jump up from the EP's that come with most telescopes! Great eyepiece! It's a lot less than some of the other ep's of the same quality. After reading the reviews of the $100 - $150 EP's, I decided that this one was for me. I have not tried any of the other EP's. I can only write about this one. It is a huge jump over the plossl's that came with my telescope. I have an Orion Astroview 90. Everything was much clearer and, of course, the eye relief and 82 degree AFOV is amazing. It is very easy to look through this EP. I noticed that it was easier to see everything even if I looked from an angle, something that I could not do with my plossl's. Last night, I used my plossl's to view Jupiter. Tonight I used this Luminos to view it. I could see the same things, but the clarity was much better, it was much easier to sit and watch her for a while. The striations across Jupiter came in with both lenses, but the Luminos gave me a sharper image. This review is based on one use. 5Good wide-field high-power eyepiece This is a good high-powered eyepiece. Whether in my 10" Dobsonian (where it gives 171x mag, and true field of view ["TFOV"] of 0.35 degrees), or my 90 mm refractor (where it gives 94x mag and a TFOV of 0.63 degrees), views are crisp and clear, and the 82 degree apparent FOV gives an immersive feeling. Jupiter and its four Galilean moons look especially great in this eyepiece. Recommended - although this is not ESSENTIAL, since a Plossl eyepiece of similar focal length would be sufficient, why not upgrade to this if you can afford a few extra bucks? 410mm Luminos Eyepiece I bought this eyepiece because the 7mm was fantastic! Again, I was very impressed with the clarity & focus of the view, and you feel immersed in the view (not looking thru a tube). This eyepiece blew away my Meade 14mm & 5.5mm 82FOV.When visually viewing, I usually use the 10 and 7mm all the time.... 5A great eyepiece It be five stars if the could make it lighter and quality control. cons first :As others has stated there is a particle on the internal. Its heavy. finding the right veiw angle isn't easy. Pros : it gives very good veiws clear crisp no false colors or aberrations on my skywatcher 100ed where other eyepieces Ive tested have. it works great with glasses. The moon looks amazing through this eyepiece mine is the 10mm but it seems to give closer views on objects than higher powered within a few mm. 4
