Customer Reviews

Did Not Work at All. No weld was possible. This wire globbed up in slaggy heaps no matter what I did. I tried many variations of speed and amperage. Nothing worked. Then I went out and got a spool of brand name wire and the problem vanished.I have an 80 amp Lincoln Electric welder. I don't weld a lot and I'm not professionally trained. But I know how to make a solid weld, and with this wire, I couldn't do that. The job in question was welding 1/2" square rod to 1/4" sheet. I hadn't welded in a couple years, and I thought it was me. I looked for advice online and tried everything I could, but nothing worked. The best I got was blobs of steel on the end of the rod. No weld ever occurred. So I went to the store and bought two pounds of brand name wire. I put settings back to normal and welded fine with the new wire. The problem was this wire. The price is fabulous. If you understand what those other guys are saying and know how to do it, then this is a great deal for you. But if you're not a pro, don't waste your money and your time. 1Its as good as Lincoln wire.I use this stuff all the time. Its as good as Lincolns wire. In the last two years, I've burned over 200 lbs with no problems. 5five star productI just made my second purchase of this wire. The first time it was a 33 lb. spool this one is 44 lbs. What a bargain like getting an eleven pound roll of wire for free. It's as good as any other brand I have used. Search for "My latest project" - it is posted on mytractorforum.com - I built a backhoe from scratch - working on the loader now. I refill 11lb. spools with the help of a 1/2" drill , just take your time or you can birds nest it just like your fishing reel.I'd recommend this wire to anyone.Don 5Why did the price double?Update, still like the wire but went to order more only to find the price nearly doubled in 6 months!! In March 2018, I paid $18.44 but in Sept it's now $35!! Guess I'll go back to Lincoln. This is really nice wire. Disclaimer, I am a novice welder but I x ray welds for a living so I know a little bit... This seems like it runs much cleaner than Hobart wire. Maybe not quite as nice as Lincoln L-56, but the price is way better. Very good value. 3My favorite brandI m by no means a expert welder but I ve done my fair share. But that being said this is some of my favorite wire I ve used. Doesn t crush in my machine and hang up at the tip like some other brands I ve used. Smooth arc as can be with flux core wire. Just good quality stuff 5Five StarsI like it way better than Hobart wire.Update. This is better than the Hobart but I recently ran out and needed some in a pinch. I purchased the Vulcan brand from harbor freight and the Vulcan welds way better. Like a lot better not even close. I would recommend giving it a shot. I still stick with my rating for this but there is better for a few dollars more. 5It's MiG wire, it will weld. Lots of popping in my application. It's nice to get that extra pound of wire, but my Everlast multiprocess unit did not like this wire at all. I had maybe a pound of Hobart wire leftover when I got the machine, and was super happy with the way it ran. I got a spool of this Blue Demon wire when that ran out, and I was immediately struck by how poppy and dirty it ran. (I'm using C25 gas.) On clean ground metal, it left more spatter and BBs around the work area that had to be ground off and I could never quite get the nice smooth arc I wanted. I figured I just wasn't used to the new machine and hadn't figured out the right settings for this wire. I got it working a little better with less popping at slightly hotter settings. It also never ran right at all on the synergic mode of my machine. With the synergic settings set as directed, I was getting almost more of a globular transfer instead of short circuit. No big deal, but just one of those weird things. I did my project and ran the spool until it ran out.I ran out of wire on a weekend and had to run to Tractor Supply to finish a project I was working on. They stock Hobart wire, and when I put that in the machine I was right back to nice clean welds with a buttery smooth arc and almost no popping or spatter. This wire seems to be fine for most, but I can say for sure that my PowerMTS 221 does NOT like it. 3Great wire at a good price.Shop around for welding wire. For me, this is the best deal that I found on this size spool unless I was ordering several spools at a time to spread out shipping costs. I have used a lot of ER70S6 Blue Demon wire in different sizes over the last several years and never had any issues with any of it. Mostly I buy 33# spools for my larger MIG machines, but these are great in my smaller machines. Much, much cheaper per pound than using 2-lb. spools. 5It's wire....Not super impressed, switched to this after I ran out of my usual stuff. Definitely could tell a difference in how it wetted out. Got a deal on it but would not purchase again. Seems to do the job, but the welds did not visually look as good comparing them on the same project. It would have got three stars if it had not had made in China on the box. I will stick to spending the extra money on brands that I have always used. 2It works but only moderate quality, can yield sloppy weldsNot a bad product & definitely a good deal. Overall the weld quality isn't great - material builds quickly with moderate splatter, wet-in isn't great but it works.I never realized how much difference there is between brands. Just finished the 11# spool & replaced with Lincoln wire from HD, went back to the same project & the weld quality was suddenly much better. I don't have any allegiance to a certain brand or country of origin but hands down the Lincoln wire is better stuff. 3
