Customer Reviews

Ordered new received damaged used chips I ordered based on the reviews. What I received was what appears to be used memory as well as they shipped a damaged set. Looks like a truck ran over the clamshell package. I can't blame USPS because it was in a bulk order with other items and the mailing pack per the photo is perfectly intact. Nice work here A-tech. For the hell of it I tried the memory in my laptop. Doesn't boot and one of the chips became extremely hot, after which I realized the decal on the memory chips were not original.I'd give them half a star if I could for fulfilling an order with damaged goods. 1revived an old laptop that was ram limited on win 7 solid ram it worked great. revived an old computer that was trying to run windows 7 with 1 gb of ram and was painfully slow as it kept dipping into the virtual memory which grinds everything to a halt. after the upgrade it can now do everyday task as its no longer ram limited. the 4gb kit was cheaper than the 2gb kit so it was a no brainier. IF you are looking to upgrade an old rig make sure its ram limited and you cpu is not getting pined at 100% use task manager and watch your ram usage if you are hitting ram limits with cpu still at bellow 90% this upgrade is for you. the person i did this for was very happy as they no longer had to buy a new laptop 5Works perfectly and very easy to install This review is for 2GB kit (1GBx2) DDR2 PC2-5300 LAPTOP Memory Modules (200-pin SODIMM, 667MHz) Genuine A-Tech BrandI have a very old HP Pavilion dv6120us laptop that I suddenly feel like reviving. It has 1GB ram, slow 120gb HDD running on Windows XP. First thing I did was to replace the harddrive to SSD. Boot and loading performance improved a lot. Unfortunately Windows XP is not supported anymore and I could not find any good browser that can surf the net. So I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 (since Windows 10 is not compatible and some drivers are not available). Windows 7 installation was successful and I can now use latest chrome browser to surf the net. Unfortunately windows 7 needs more memory and task manager shows memory always at max. Even with SSD I can feel that its struggling. So I bought and installed this RAM and now laptop works like new again. Installation was very easy, no need to set anything in BIOS, no compatibility issue encountered either. So I just removed the old RAM and replaced with this new one. Turn on the laptop and that's it. 58GB Kit Memory Module purchase from A-Tech I want Amazon to know how much I appreciate the extra effort and courtesy A-Tech has extended to me. I am forever grateful. Apparently I ordered more memory than my laptop could handle. They (Alex) stuck with me all the way, helped me try to find the problem, sent several more memory sticks to me free of charge to try, with free return envelopes -- and finally credited me for the memory I did not use. The memory I did keep is working perfectly. I recommend this company to anyone looking for good quality components and service. You won't be sorry. 5Bought 2 kits so far, 1 kit good, 1 kit bad, price is very reasonable. Installed the 2x1GB kit in an old Asus Eee Box B202 and it works great. Each SO-DIMM has 8 chips on one side and 8 chips on the other side. Excellent value. Install date was Aug 2015, its May 2017 now, so 1 year and 9 months, the PC runs as an FTP server 24/7, zero problems.UPDATE 5-4-2017: Purchased a 2x2GB kit for an old Acer Aspire Revo R1600. Went with the faster PC2-6400 stuff because past experience with this R1600 being really picky about the RAM. With the new memory in, the PC POSTED fine, BIOS said there was 4096MB of RAM, so far so good. I ran Memtest86 but was disappointed to see 50 errors after only a few minutes of testing. I tried swapping the position of the two modules but same results. I ended up going back to my original 2GB+1GB modules which passed 2 full runs of Memtest86 with zero errors. I don't know if the A-Tech modules are truly bad or the Revo R1600 hardware is just fussy and can't actually run 4GB reliably. Ended up sending the A-Tech back. I have to knock 1 star off my previous 5 star rating, sorry A-Tech. 4A-Tech - 8GB PC2-6400 Laptop Memory I order the 8GB DDR2 PC2-6400 laptop memory for my ten year old laptop. I originally custom build the particular HP HDX for media entertainment and it never gave me any problems. I wanted to upgraded from 4GB to 8GB and decided to order the memory from A-Tech. The 8GB that arrived didn't work at all. Tested all the memory slots and the original memory worked fine. I call the their tech support and they covered everything I've already done to even ask me if I'm using a 64bit OS (had to laugh at that one). They gave me an option to send another set of memory or refund. I've already dealt with them before and their memory didn't give me any problems back then so why not. The second set of 8GB of memory worked perfectly. The computer rebooted and recognized the memory and now I'm a happy camper. They must have send me a bad batch of memory initially. There tech support guy was great and knowledgeable. I will continue to buy their products until their quality become substandard. 5Very Affordable RAM for a 11 year old HP Pavilion Laptop I brought this RAM for a 11 year old HP Pavilion dv6700 laptop that had been given to me by mother-in-law which already had 3GB of RAM with it, The Laptop itself believe it or not was still in very usable condition which after I doing some TLC and upgrading/replacing most of the laptops system parts (Hard Drive, RAM, Battery etc...) I was able to upgrade the original OS, Windows Vista to Windows 10. This RAM made it possible.PROS:- At around $18 very affordable making the upgrade worth it.- helped make the Windows 10 Upgrade possibleCONS:- NoneOverall: If your thinking of upgrading your RAM on very old hardware look no further, Highly recommend it.SPECS:HP Pavilion dv6700 (2007)OS: Windows 10 Pro (Originally Windows Vista Home Premium)CPU: Intel Duo Core (1.83 ghz)RAM: 4GB (Max capacity, originally 3GB)Hard Drive: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (Originally Western Digital 300GB Mechanical HD)Video Card: Integrated Intel Mobile 965 Video Card (VGA output)Ports: 3 X USB 2.0Internal Nic: 100mb Realtek RTL8101E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NICWiFi Nic: Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter (Broken)/LB1 AC600 Dual Band USB DongleROM: DVD/CD WriterWebcam: Integrated 720p Webcam 5Straight to the point: It's RAM, it fit, it works, I'm happy. So, I have a late 2008 macbook pro, and I was running on 1GBx2 (half as much ram as this product) and one stick totally died, so I had to take it out and run on just 1GB. I couldn't put up with that for long, so I got this.Bought this and went from 2GB, to 1GB, to 4GB and I'm really happy. You can really tell the difference, I don't have to restart or give my computer a break as often now.Just remember to check the specs on everything so that you get the right kind.(Incase anyone is wondering, I bought mine from A-TECH, I do recommend buying from them. It came late because the item wasn't in stock, but they explained that to me and refunded the shipping and it was sent the day BEFORE I contacted them about it, and then it got here in the newer estimated time.) 5New life for an old laptop Although the manufacturer's specs for my Medion MD96015 indicated it could only be upgraded to 2GB, it turns out that is actually a Windows XP limitation.Since Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP, I have installed and have been running Linux Mint on this older laptop (from 2006).These were super easy to install (5-10 minutes) and all 4GB were recognized immediately at power-up by the Linux Mint OS.Now, my old laptop is faster than ever before, and I couldn't be happier with the new life this memory upgrade has provided for it.I would most definitely recommend this product to anyone who isn't ready to throw away an older Windows XP laptop and is also planning to update their no longer supported Windows XP operating system. 5Worked for my laptop until it went into sleep mode. I promptly received the product on schedule and installed the memory modules in my Toshiba Satellite laptop. The specs on the new and old memory chips were identical and the laptop booted up with no errors. Windows 7 immediately recognized that I now had 4GB of memory installed instead of 2GB and the boost in system performance was very apparent. I would definitely recommend anyone running Windows 7 or newer to increase their memory to improve system performance and their computing experience. I was a very happy customer for about an hour.I walked away from my PC to watch some television and when I came back my laptop had gone into sleep mode (as it should). I woke up the computer and the logon screen was filled with white horizontal stripes. That's not a good sign. I logged on and was greeted by a loud annoying screech, almost like what an old style modem would make but louder and more annoying. The noise wouldn't stop so I rebooted the laptop. The laptop restarted without any issues and everything appeared normal. I forced my laptop into sleep mode and woke it up again to find the same distorted screen and loud annoying screech. I repeated the steps a could times to ensure I could recreate the issue. Now I know what memory gone bad sounds like. I reinstalled my old memory and the problem hasn't occurred again. I plan to return the memory and possibly buy another set to see if I have better luck.Update: I ordered another set of memory chips of the same type which promptly arrived. My laptop wouldn t even boot up with the new set. The specifications on the original memory from the laptop matches the specs on the new memory so I know I didn t order the wrong memory. I went ahead and ordered a different brand of memory to see if I would have better luck. That third set of memory behaved in a similar manner as the first set of A-Tech memory in that if functions properly until the PC comes out of hibernation / sleep state. What I ve learned from this experience is that not all memory is of the same quality, and each computer can be sensitive to various qualities of memory. I might have better luck if I try some of the more expensive memory that costs 3 - 4 times as much. I have an older laptop that I didn t want to invest much money in. If I was upgrading an Apple computer I would invest more money for reliable and stable memory. It really depends on how stable you need your computer to be. If you re on a budget and want a cheap solution that may / may not work with your PC then this product might be a good fit for you. Based on other reviews it appears that many people have had better luck than I. I m going to leave my rating a one star because the two sets of memory I received provided inconsistent results. 1
