Customer Reviews

Flawless TPM setup & configuration with BitLocker on Windows 10 Pro. Dropped the chip onto my ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero and everything just worked. Was auto-detected in the BIOS and TPM came with newest firmware (version 5.63) so I had absolutely zero issues. Currently running a pair of Samsung 960 EVO's in RAID0 as my Windows 10 boot device, using Intel RST v16.5.1 and BitLocker was a breeze to get setup. Couldn't be happier to now have full drive encryption for around $14. MountainMaill (vendor) zipped the parcel here in two days, including movement on Labor Day. 5Works with Asus H170 Pro Gaming motherboard This worked perfectly with an Asus H170 Pro Gaming motherboard. The module is labeled TPM 2.0, unlike some earlier modules I tried that only supported 1.2.I had to upgrade the BIOS to v2003 (release date Sept 2016) first. Before the BIOS upgrade, the system wouldn't boot. 5Escellence in a small packet This is a TPM Module that plugged directly into the proper pins on my mainboard. It just works and was immediately recognized by my software and mainboard. Would I repurchase it? Yes without hesitation. In a few years I will replace it with an upgraded module (my Win10 Pro is squawking about this) when I replace the mainboard. I don't want to upgrade the firmware on this device for I don't want to take a chance of losing my encrypted data. Again, no hesitation, for I would buy it again. 5Needs F/W updated Its F/W must be updated. Google Asus and this TPM, and "9665FW_update_package_1.1" (it's from SuperMicro). It's in Asus's ROG forum. Details on how to update the firmware are in that forum; thread named:"Asus / Infineon TPM firmware update?"The method to update is in post #45 of that topic, timestamp 01-13-2018 01:58 AM. 4Came with version 5.63 firmware already installed Came with 5.63 already installed so no firmware update needed. This firmware version is not vulnerable to the Infineon Security issue. Windows detected it right away and works without any extra work on my part.Purchased from Selling Supplies. I little higher in price but worth it not having to worry about firmware updates. 5This TPM has well known security issue but ASUS won't fix it. This is a product with well known security issue and ASUS won't fix it.Microsoft won't allow you to use it before ASUS fix this TPM's firmware. Check my screen capture.Search Microsoft ADV170012 and search ASUS forum will show you how many users have the same issue with this TPM. 1TPM version 5.63 already installed I took a chance and bought this TPM as a previous post indicated it came with version 5.63. I'm confirming mine did well (specifically 5.63.12.18432). There was no setup for my Asus PRIME X370-PRO motherboard to recognize it. After I installing it, I checked the BIOS first thing and saw the computer had already recognized it. After Windows 10 booted up, I went ran PowerShell as Administrator and entered the "get-tpm" command. Version showed 5.63 to my relief. I haven't encrypted my drives yet but glad I have a updated version not vulnerable to the current Infineon Security problem.I purchased this module fulfilled by Amazon Prime (sold by Cyber Trading). 5Another unsatisfied customer Unfortunately the review posted before mine was not there when I bought this item. While I can't prove that it is a BIOS related issue, I am unable to make this work with Windows 10. I have contacted Microsoft after I was unable to start BitLocker and after several days of trying other things to make this work, they are confident that BitLocker can't be started because the this TPM chip is defective. They are referring me back to the manufacturer but as has been already stated in earlier reviews, Asus is not supporting their product. Don't waste your $15. 1Invalid/Unsupported Firmware pre-Loaded. The module came with Firmware 5.63.3353 pre-loaded on it. According to ASUS Support, that is not an authentic version and they have no record of that version of firmware. I have to send the Module into RMA with ASUS so they can examine the security device and reflash the firmware if they can. This is a security device and I take Security seriously. 2Is susceptible to the Infineon security flaw that impacts TPMs. This is a functioning TPM 2.0 module for Asus 14 pin motherboards.I am giving it one star intentionally as the product is vulnerable to the Infineon Security issue as detailed here: https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/promopages/tpm-update/I contacted Asus customer support regarding this issue and asked if they intended to issue a firmware update. Customer support stated that they did not intend to fix the problem and impacted customers should rely on the workaround provided by Microsoft for Windows. This means that for Linux customers there is no solution and the workaround for Windows is not a permanent fix.Quote from Asus customer service:"Thank you for contacting ASUS Product Support, this is Medard M. I understand that you know if there's a firmware update for the TPM of the motherboard. I apologize if you have to go through this kind of issue with your unit and I'm here to further assist you on your concern. At this time, I do apologize but there's no TPM firmware update and there's only a Microsoft turnaround." 1
