    Good customer service. Keep in mind, I'm ordering the stones mounted on pine, so I'm not expecting much.2 of the 3 stones were perfect. The soft stone is mainly black, with coral collered marbled veins. The hard stone is a solid off white, with one small hard spot. The black stone is a very dark grey that turns dark black when broke in. The edge on the black is not finished, and it has a small shard chipped out of an end of the stone.I contacted them and they sent me out a replacement immediately. I now have my replacement, and I am very happy.The stones are actually nicer than I was expecting, and their customer service is top notch. 5They are beautiful and my knives love it They are beautiful and my knives love it. Turned a cheap Target stainless steel knife into a mean lean cutting machine.My gouges are sharp, my beautiful gransfur bruk axe is happy, and I can reuse my xacto blades and scalpels.My order was delayed due to error, but they reached out to me and provided excellent service. I appreciate the fact they did that without me having to message them.I'm sure these will last for years, which I'd definitely buy again. 5I have used the new stones and they're better than I could have hoped I bought a small hard Arkansas stone 37+ years ago and it was less than 1/4 inch in thickness, I had to redress it 3 times before it give out and broke on me. I have used the new stones and they're better than I could have hoped, and if they give me even a quarter of service life as that one little stone gave me then my great grand kids will still be using them. I know I've got a lot of steel to drag across them but I've never been happier to do so, because it's took me about 2 1/2 years to locate a set of stones as good or better than I had. Man made stones are ok to use for a very dull blade and to take a knife edge down if it's got knicks in it but you just can't beat a good natural stone, and just for good measure I use a strop to finish with if needed ( it's not ) !!!! 5Don't try water stones. These are the s--t I'm not new to sharpening but I received a new custom Damascus knife that wasn't fully sharpened. Hardness is 56-58. Seller said I could return it but it's a nice knife and figured I'll finish it myself. I didn't have a coarse stone so ordered an expensive 2 grit water stone and tried it. Didn't work so I got a different brand with finer grit and still no. I'm getting extremely aggravated at this point so looked up what I know. Natural Arkansas stones with oil. With 20min work, it's where it needs to be so 5 stars. And it is a little gritty at first use, but smoothed out in a few minutes. So quit complaining about the grit. Gotta break it in like a good pair of boots. And I don't right many reviews and none this long but I'm very impressed with this product 5Much easier than waterstones... These work very well, I recommend also picking up a coarse diamond stone for putting on a new edge. These very quickly put on a nice razor sharp edge on my kitchen knives and chisels after i resurfaced them with a diamond stone. I previously used a combination waterstone, and it took a long time to use, given the prep of soaking resurfacing, and then the clean up- this did a similarly great job in much less time. 5Best bang for your buck! So far these are really good stones. Im a newbie so it took a few tries to learn my angles. The hard and soft stones really get an edge. The black stone puts solid polish on my edge. That being said, i would still invest in a leather strop. It made a huge difference in the blade. And i used that more than the stones to bring the edge back up. The stones have been primarily to get it sharp and they do work! Ive done about a dozen sharpenings and havent noticed the cupping people have mentioned. YMMV. 5Do you have the Stones to pass up this great deal? This bundle deal was an incredible price and I used them initially for a plane blade. They honed the blade to better than new and now I m encouraged to learn how to sharpen all blades because it was my first time using sharpening stones and these worked amazingly. Looking forward to buying the translucent (4000 grit) stone in the future. The pack of 3 also came with adhesive rubber feet to attach to each stone s wood base - very useful if not mounting them on/in a recess cut board. 5Excellent stones Nice fit and finish. The stones are very flat, nice differentiation between the grits. Have used them for hand plane irons, kitchen knives, pocket knives and hatchets. May look into getting som 3" stones in the future, but would have no problem buying these again. Well worth the price. 5Not flat. The stone itself seems OK, but they're not ground remotely *flat*. The description warns they won't arrive smooth, but I didn't expect they'd be cupped like this. If I lay one against another, there's almost 1 mm worth of gap in some places. You can *see* the bellying just looking down an edge. Unlike waterstones, it will take a lot of work to get these flat.I got these for a shared workshop; I went cheap because I expect they'll be mistreated by someone soon enough.I wish I'd spent a little more. 2Old School Stones for Those Who Care about Sharp Blades I've spent my whole life working with knives and stones like these, and learning how to use them, are one of the true pleasures in life. If you are not a "knife guy" you would not understand. These are awesome. FANTASTIC. They came very well packages, and are extremely well made. I had to replace some old stones I wore out (they were my dad's before mine). I'm 57 years old. Dad had them while I was growing up...so...invest in quality stones and you won't go wrong.A DULL BLADE IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN A SHARP BLADE.Why?If you don't have a super sharp blade when you are cutting up carrots, or potatoes or doing whatever it is you are doing, you will apply MORE pressure to the blade and you will increase the chances of the knife slipping and because you have applied so much more pressure when you cut yourself (not if, but when), you will do a heck of a lot more damage. I good sharp knife makes the cutting much safer and if you do happen to slice yourself it will be a clean cut, easily sutured or pasted back together. Super glue!Enjoy 5
