    Great display, accurate, but no instantaneos wind readingsThis unit is well made. The outdoor sensor is well designed and easily mounted, even having a bubble level on top to aid in proper installation. The display is just the right size, easily readable, with 3 controllable brightness levels. Readings seem to be very accurate as compared to other devices we have. One major disappointment is that the wind speed and direction readings are not instantaneous.You have to wait 18 seconds for the wind to update and 30 for the direction. Since we have the unit in the TV room where the old hardwired Heathkit unit was, we always checked the speed when we heard big gusts of wind. Not now. It was always amusing to watch the wind direction arrow spin around when heavy winds were about. I assume that having a wireless unit feed back instantaneous readings would be an extra drain on the batteries. The Weather Ticker is an interesting feature, but if you are interested in a particular reading, for example peak wind gust, you have to wait for it to go by in the window, which has a great deal of stored data.4Works as advertised!I put this weather station up last year (mounted it on a galvanized pipe) and it's held up very well. It's pretty accurate and closely matches numbers the weather service puts up. (Actually, I think it's more accurate since it's AT my house instead of NEAR it.) It's held up in gale-force winds, cold, snow, hailstorms, hot summers. They recommend putting in lithium instead of alkaline batteries, though, esp. if your weather gets extreme at either end of the scale, and I did that. The console is attractive, informative, and easy to read. However, the viewing angle is shallow; if you're sitting down or to one side or another, you typically can't read the screen. Aside from that nit, though, it's been a real champ. Recommended.5Access Hub is Broken(I tried to purchase this through Amazon but order was borked so purchased elsewhere)This desktop display and outdoor 5-1 unit communicate very well, and seem accurate.The new designed internet hub called "Access" is garbage. Even though it is connected to the 5-1 outdoor unit with good signal strength and getting an IP address it refuses to connect to the accurite "atlasapi. myacurite . com" server and thus can't be registered.Browsing the Acurite help forums, it appears that many others have been seeing the same issue for over 4 weeks with no resolution. Calling support is a joke unless you like spending over an hour on hold and only move up 3 places in the que.The sick part is that the old base station is being retired and will no longer function in a few months so everyone with the legacy system will need to PURCHASE this defective Access product if they have any hope of being able to remotely view or publish to Weatherunderground.My advice: stay away from this company until they get their stuff together.1The Ultimate Incorrect Weather StationWell this was waste of money, I would not recommend this Weather station to anyone. I needed this weather station on a mil base in the middle east, because I work with coms and rotary travel, I thought it would come in very handy. Maybe I just got a bad unit, or this is an old model, who knows. When you calibrate this unit to actual weather results on base, it decides to either increase the readings by more or less that 10-15 degrees (Max error was 18 deg) than the actual. Both temp and humidity readings are useless, barometer is kind of close, indoor temp is always out by a few degrees. Wireless signal strength between the indoor and outdoor unit was strong - I hope the retailer will throw us a bone here, and I was going to buy a dual indoor unit model lol.1More Trouble Than We WantedThe good: It looks like a good weather station. The rain gauge is an intriguing augment. The old station we had from this same company worked very well for 10 years before corrosion took it.But: Instructions are not well presented either in text or the video. The indoor thermometer is out of calibration. The mounting system requires driving screws in to secure the wind direction sensor and the design for this is quite poor. Battery orientation is not well presented for the 4 AA's that go in the station. The data screen for inside cannot be turned off and it has a little information screen on the bottom that I don't like to have winking at me all the time, often with useless comments.3Junk don t buyJUNK......I should of trusted the reviews before buying. The issue with this is the outdoor 5 in 1 wont stay connected to the access. without that your app or computer won t get data. It would send it to house screen but I want it for the app and to see data charts. Moved access around trying different areas and nope kept losing it nightly. Junk and this one will be returned and not replaced!!1Only thing accurate on this weather station is the date and time.Very inaccurate, even after calibration. If you manually calibrate the temperature when its warm out, then the temp during the night is way off, and vis versa. After several attempts of calibrating the rain measuring gauge and finally getting it within the manual parameters; the first rain it measured was off by two inches. Humidity and barometric pressure seems to be close, but who knows. The wind speed and direction are a joke, and it not instantaneous. My phone app tied to a NWS base station 2 miles from my house has verified just how inaccurate this weather station is.1DO NOT BUY!!! Station will not connect & no customer service!The product is apparently defective, but compared to their customer service it is relatively good. I got up early to call customer service, the original phone number directed me to call a second number. The second number stated only chat is customer service is variable now! I have been waiting on chat for 20 minutes with no response... do yourself a favor and buy from a different manufacturer...any manufacturer.. Read the other people's reviews- this company lacks proper printed instructions for their products and their customer service is non-existent.1Just purchased 5-1 weather station Model 06022 Un boxed, ...Just purchased 5-1 weather stationModel 06022Un boxed, set it up .The Ticker on bottom of displayThere are digital characters missing in display ..tried calling customer support" it said no agents available "And hung up on me .Tried messenger ..message came back"Try resetting to factory settingsAnd make sure you are using high quality Alkaline batteries "( which I am using energizerBatteries and did reset as instructed ) did not resolve problemRegretting buying this 100$Paperweight )1Three Strikes against Acurite for three defective displaysI've had an Acurite Weather Station for three years but after seeing that Acurite had a newer model with a dark display I decided to replace my old white display version since the screen was too bright when my lights were dim and I often had to lay it face down so I couldn't see it. I received this new weather station and was pleased that it solved this problem.The first shipment I received came with a defective display that would not show the correct wind speed. It read "0" most of the time and only reached 2 mph on a windy day. Amazon replaced it with another one and while the new one displayed wind speed and other info, it was also defective because it would not allow me to calibrate it like it was supposed to. I have calibrated my old one easily in the past so I'm familiar with the procedure. After trying over and over I asked Amazon to send me another replacement - my third one. I was disappointed that this display would also not enter the calibration mode. Three displays - all defective. I contacted Acurite's support with my problem and they had no solution - they just told me to repeat what I had already tried, then to do a factory reset and repeat what I had already done unsuccessfully several times.and then suggested that I needed better batteries although the display is plug-in, not battery operated (the batteries are for backup during a power failure). My old display will enter calibration mode with no batteries installed whatsoever.So, I returned the third weather station and have decided that I will keep my defective dark display because I prefer it to the white display which is calibrated but too bright. It appears that this dark display is not able to be calibrated so I will mentally subtract the "always too warm inside temperature" that all uncalibrated four displays show as 2 degrees warmer than the room because of the display's warmth and accept my fate. The outdoor temps are also always too warm whenever the sun is shining despite the solar powered fan that is supposed to correct this but this discrepancy varies during the day as the sun moves across the sky so calibration wouldn't solve it entirely. Also, none of my Acurite weather stations have ever shown the correct wind speed - I've experienced several wind storms that the weather service said were over 50 mph and my display has never exceeded 24 mph.I am disappointed with Acurite for their lack of quality control but I could not be happier with Amazon for it's superior customer service. This whole debacle has cost Amazon lots of money for free shipping both ways and the returns process that this involved. I doubt that any local retailer would have been as understanding as Amazon has been during this ordeal. Hats off (as usual) to Amazon. 10 STARS for them.2
