    Perfect for my niche need Perfect for my niche need... I am using these to install 3" LED recessed lights into hollow beams in the ceiling in our den. These are the perfect item to house the 110V connections that need to fit through the 2.7" holes for the recessed lights where "regular" size junction boxes will not fit. A+ 5Nice quality Worked remarkably well for the purpose I needed it for. Perfect inlets and right on size. Sturdy, good materials, and like the fact it can be used outdoors. 5Great for undercabinet/low profile junction requirements As with others here, I used these as low-profile j-boxes for undercabinet mounting. They are the perfect size for an input cable from the wall, wire nuts, and the output wire to the fixture. Unlike a previous reviewer, I didn't find that the boxes were easily damaged when opening them. I just put a screwdriver in the cable hole and pried, and they would open and close just fine.The mounting ears are on the "cover" of the box, which might be an issue for some - as an alternative, you could just pre-drill a couple of holes in the bottom plate and screw that to your surface, then clip the cover over your cables. Personally, I won't need to access that junction for years, whenever we decide it's time to replace the fixtures, so there's no reason for me to have easy access to the inside of the box.As a side note, #4 wood screws are nearly the perfect size for the mounting ears of these j-boxes. They will slightly cut their own threads through the ears, but not enough to weaken them. Do buy some good quality hardware, though - #4 screws are plenty cheap and you won't want to run the risk of stripping the heads if you have overly soft screws. 5fairly good project enclosure I got the 5.1"x3.7"x2.24" version. Its big enough to hold most of my little projects. The outside of sides of the box have what appears to be knockout plugs but they don't "knock out" at all... what's the point? The plastic screws have brittle threads that feels cheap securing the top. Comes with a "rubber string" that you're supposed to put into the groove on the lid, apparently to seal out moisture, but its impossible to get this thing in the recess properly. I would not trust this box for outdoor use. Good thing my project is for indoor use only. 3 stars as it'll work for my use case. 3Mini J Boxes I used these as under cabinet low voltage J-Boxes for LED strip lighting. The plastic seemed a little thin and mounting tabs appeared flimsy, but nothing broke during installation despite occasional hamfistedness, so appearances were deceiving The mini size is perfect for housing small gauge electrical junctions and making everything look tidy. These boxes are actually out of sight in my application, hidden up under the cabinets unless you really look. Great price. Mounting tabs are on the upper box portion - not the relatively flat backside. This means that to disassemble a mounted box you have to first remove the mounting screws, dropping the entire box, to get access to the snap anchored back. Depending on application this could be either an advantage, or a disadvantage. For me, mounting would have been a bit easier had the mounding tabs been on the case "bottom" (actually topside in my under cabinet mounting :-), but it was that big an issue to mount them after individually assembling the boxes around each junction. 5Good price and quality Nice sturdy box, these are harder to find than you would think. I am using this for the balums and video connections for an outdoor camera. 5So far so good. Using this as an outdoor ADS-B enclosure. South Florida heat, sun, rain and wind haven't beaten it yet. 5Knock out holes do not knock out. Useless. Junk. Knock out holes do not knock out, plastic too thick. The holes are basically useless etch marks.Rubber seal is too thin and not continuous. It is a cheap plastic strip you trim and seems to have a dubious ability to keep moisture out.Returned product the day I received it. Do not waste your money on this. 1Trash product Absolute trash. "Knock out" holes are not perforated at all. Solid plastic, so when you try to punch them out with a hammer, you'll spend a good minute banging on it until you break the frame. Rubber seal is just a random cut piece of rubber that you have to measure out yourself and tediously align. Sticking to the ones I got I home Depot! 1Works for what it is, but simple changes would make them great. Used these as mini junction boxes for under cabinet lighting. My lights came with a proprietary plug that I simply cut off and spliced with 16gauage extension cord cable inside these boxes. The boxes are just slim enough to be fully concealed under standard cabinets.How could they be better?Well, once snapped closed, they are almost impossible to open without damaging the box. The mounting tabs are on the lid instead of the bottom plate. This mean you basically have to connect everything inside before you can mount. Wouldn't be so bad if you could open and adjust, but you can't! Also, the screw holes are SO SMALL. 3
