I didn't like this as much as I thought I wouldI actually preferred, after trying both varieties of hobbyist magnifying glasses, the simpler version pictured above. This model (not pictured here) interfered with my hands a little because of the bulky plastic frame. Additionally the light was dimmer than I expected and had a cool LED that was weird. 3A little small, you get what you pay for.Good for PCB soldering like in the picture. The 5 board-mount led lights on the flexible arm are adequately bright and can run off of 3 AA batteries or an included AC-DC adaptor. This is a nice feature for portability. The unit is not very heavy, but short enough that this shouldn't be a problem. The iron holder is at a bit on the small side as well and sits at a somewhat awkward angle to the rest of the unit. My main gripe is that, while the unit comes with 2 auxiliary magnifying glasses, only one may be attached to the unit at any given time. With nowhere to store the extra one, it'll be annoying to keep up with the other one. They are also a bit difficult to remove once inserted in the flip-away holder, and too long to be folded down out of the way. If you mount the glass upside-down, however, the aux glass flips out of the way easily and doesn't seem in the way. Overall, this will be a nice unit for board-mounted projects. 4Extremely useful magnifying stand with alligator clips that are adjustable to hold a particular project stationaryThis is a terrific magnifier along with a base and a light! It is a far cry improvement over the old one that I had for over 12 years. The only difference is that it has a light that is a LED array and this adds considerable illumination to the project that I'm working on or attempting to solder.I would highly recommend this to anyone who like to engage in DIY projects or any other work that needs to be magnified. It also includes two different extra magnification lenses that fit right underneath the base of the magnifying glass. 5Good value, well madeThe item shipped to me had a EU AC power supply with no corresponding US converter. Use of batteries in the base of could have been a solution for the issue, however I chose to use a converter from my German made turntable for the AC power supply. The light is bright, magnifying options provide clear vision, soldering iron holder is useful and the clamps hold ones work well. Overall this item is a good value for those soldering small items and would have been worthy of a 5 star rating if the US converter would have been included with the item as listed. 4Extra magnification power and weight win the day for meWorks and offers an extra level of magnification than most sets of its kind. Base is heavy enough not to tip over unless the large lens is very far to one side. Included flex is preposterously short, I needed an extension - but it also works on AA batteries, so that's a plus. I didn't want USB.It's not a thing of great beauty - some of the others offer a sleeker design - but the extra magnification and weight win the day for me. I was able to fix my glasses (tiny screws!) very handily 4This is for light jobs..!!Ok I purchase this because I do a lot of wires for my DJ equipment, mic cables, speaker wires, powerCon plugs, ect.... So I always have to ask my friends to help me hold the plug or wires. It works for me for what I do. Its simple to adjust and I notice that a lot of reviews say the screws don't tie up enough. And the clips will slide down or wont stay in place or the strip. Well people forget this is a $20 product and it is for small jobs. If you planning to do any big job that the pieces weight more than a pound, this might not work for you. The pieces I'm always working with are no more than half a pound so like I said it works for me. It uses 3 AA batteries for the light and the light is very decent, The magnifying glass is not of high qualitybut it does what it supose to do and if you working with small pieces it's a plus..!! Besides that it's worth the money, at least for me..!! 5No too bad but the base could be larger to make it ...The unit is smaller than I expected but will do the job I am looking for it to do. I will say the unit is hard to get the items to stay where they need to stay on the poles as the tiny round screws are hard to tighten to the rod and get them to stay. The items are crammed into a small space and so for instance the soldering iron holder is right up against the pole and magnifyer and so the hit each other. No too bad but the base could be larger to make it more stable and seperate the objects for more room and not be so cramped on the base. 4More Toy than ToolMore like a toy than a tool. As others have mentioned, assembled devise is VERY flimsy! Base is too light to keep everything from falling over. Also, magnifying glass is too heavy for single screw to hold effectively. On a good note, the magnifier is actually pretty good. I plan on tossing everything except the magnifier into the recycle bin. 2Nice product, nice price.Received this magnifier the other day and I am pleased with what I received. Although there may be better magnifiers available, this is perfect for what I need and is well worth the price. Contrary to what I read in other reviews, the adapter I received works in American outlets so they must have changed this from earlier ones. The LED's provide ample light. 5Not worth it.. RETURNEDThis did not come with any instructions and it's not even close to self explanatory with the number of parts. I sent it right back. No time for jig saw puzzles. Just from looking at the parts, the light didn't seem very bright nor was the magnification good or clear to me. Additional reasons why I didn't even worry about trying to put it together. Its small enough that it should come assembled so it's just poor product marketing to ship it like that to me. 1
