Customer Reviews

Excellent stuffI am not one of these paid reviewers so this is on the up and up. The short answer is: this is a great system for a great price. If you're trying to decide between a wireless camera system and a wired camera system consider that the wireless cameras still require you to run power wires to each camera. This system delivers power to the cameras using the video cable that you run, so there's a trade-off there. I'm using the four camera system. It is quite a bit of work to mount four cameras and run cable to them but by going with the cable cameras instead of the wireless cameras you get a much better system for a much lower price. I would rate the equipment I received as excellent. Having studied the reviews thoroughly before buying I've now found most of the reviewer complaints were by people who hadn't figured out all this system's options yet. You will want a small LCD monitor for this system, but you can usually get one at any thrift store for 5 or 10 dollars. You need the monitor to talk to the video recorder so you can choose the options you want. This recorder comes with a mouse and remote control. You cannot go wrong plugging the cameras into the recorder. It's simple. So with your monitor attached and your cameras plugged in, you will immediately see your 4 cameras on the screen. A right click of the mouse button gives you your options to choose from. There's a lot of them. This video recorder offers many things. The more exotic options, like email notification, require some technical knowledge but the basic setups can be done by anyone. Most people want to be able to see their cameras on their cell phone. Getting that set up requires a little patience and trial and error. First, your cell phone needs to have "QR Scanner Software," on it in order to load the right security camera program into the phone. QR Scanning software is free and easy to load into your phone. On your phone, go into Google and search for "QR Scanner Software for Android or IPhone" depending on which type of phone you have. From the list of results choose the Google QR Scanner Software for your phone and download it. Once the program has downloaded and installed, your phone will now be able to read barcodes. When you first turn on your new video recorder, the "Guide," or "Configuration Window," will appear. When you run that, it will eventually show you pictures of barcodes and ask you to scan one using your cell phone. You might as well not do that yet. Those barcodes will load a video camera program onto your phone, but the programs are constantly being upgraded so you need to have the latest program. The one on your new digital recorder is not the newest and might not work. Instead go to [...] on your home pc and near the top right corner of the XMEye home page you'll see an APP Download link which will show you two barcodes that contain the latest version of the software you need. Find the new scanner icon on your cell phone, press it and when the cell phone camera turns on, scan that XMEye barecode on the XMEye home page. Your cell phone will ask you if you want to install the new program. You do. Now put your cell phone aside and set up your new account with XMEye. When you fill out the info form it will ask you for your address. That is not your home address. It is the IP address for your new digital recorder. You can find the IP address by right clicking on the new digital recorder, choosing "System," and "Network." You will also need your digital recorders serial number. Find that by right clicking and going to "Main Menu" to "Info," to "Version." When entering the serial number you will also be asked for a name. You get to choose that yourself. With the above info, you should be able to get through the process of setting up your cell phone so you can see your home cameras. If you need more help, Google search for XMEye set up. There's quite a bit on line. Best wishes. Good luck. 5Not bad. like very muchI always wanted to install a camera monitoring system in my restaurant.I originally wanted to buy a Wi-Fi camera monitoring system.sometimes have a power outage in this place.Wi-Fi camera if there is a power outage. Will stop recording.I chose a wired camera for one reason. I bought a spare battery socket.Even if there is a power outage. My camera monitoring system will still work There is another reason. I heard that the cable camera video is stable.Wi-Fi camera if the signal is not good. Video recording will be poor. I spent about 6 hours installing 4 cameras today. This system is still relatively simple to install. This monitoring system image is very clear.I took a few photos.I think I chose the wired camera is right. The video is very stable. Always keep the HD status video. Then this camera monitoring system can also connect to my phone.I can watch the video anytime, anywhere on my phone.Anyway, I am very satisfied with this camera monitoring system. 5Great price for a complete set that has everything you needThis was a replacement for a webcam I had running through a PC with software. The PC died, and I was looking for a more stable system with more cameras, and of course inexpensive.I have had this system running for almost 2 months. Here are some observations with my experience.- 1TB drive is plenty of space for my needs. I currently have 5 cameras on it (4 included plus my old webcam). I am running only motion detection, not constant recording, and I still have half of the drive space left after 2 months.- The motion sensitivity is still very sensitive even at the lowest setting. At times I think it is just constantly recording anyway.- At the time of purchase, the cameras were 900TVL, and now they are 720p. The cameras I have are not high enough quality to catch a license plate number beyond 30 feet. The new 720p cameras they offer, may be better. Still better than what I had and great for entry-level.- The IR range is fairly decent, but when the IR lights are on, they attract bugs in warmer weather. So you will get a lot of recordings of bugs if you are doing motion detection.- Set up is a learning curve. This is a foreign company and the translations aren't always precise. If you play with it enough, hopefully a bell will go off in your head, and you'll know exactly what each setting does and how to set it up to your liking.A few tips and tricks:- If you are setting up a pinhole in your firewall for outside access, make sure you do both the web port and media streaming port.- The web interface only works in IE. I have found that in order to install the software from their site, and to set up the motion area when setting up motion detection, you have to run IE "as administrator". Usually can do that by right click or shift+right click on the IE icon.- If your camera is pointed at a street light, it may never go to black and white IR mode at night.Annoyances:-My cameras are 900TVL so they are 4:3 ratio. The web interface defaults to 16:9, so I often have to change it back to 4:3.-While reviewing a recording in 4:3 ratio, you can take a snapshot and save it as a bitmap. The snapshot is 16:9. I'm thinking now all of the recordings are going to be 16:9 format, and it converts it to 4:3 while viewing. Should not be an issue now that they are offering 720p cameras.-Daylight saving time setting has to be done every year. You have to put in the dates and times each year.-No option to synchronize to an external time server. It has been 2 months and the time has drifted by 1 to 2 minutes now.-The configuration GUI is very dated, but it works.-The smartphone app is a battery hog on one of my android devices. This is a decent starter package that has everything you need, however if you are not technically inclined, you will need some assistance to get it set up and get all of the features out of it.I would purchase this system again, especially with the newer cameras. 5I cannot read plates across the street but I can easily see what types of vehicles are out thereSnap to setup. Just make sure you go through EVERY menu option. When these are setup by default they record in 960H instead of 720P. I cannot read plates across the street but I can easily see what types of vehicles are out there, and I can easily identify my neighbors as they come on screen. Simple BNC connector for each one. The app is pretty easy to install and setup, although it does like to time out a lot. My only argument is that you cannot change the actual DVR settings via the app, but I do have an app on my tablet that allows me to change these settings. Not sure who the guy in the Dodge is, but he decided my driveway was as good as any to hang out in, so we all get to see how the cameras are. This is slightly zoomed in via my phone viewer. The Jeep is mine during a normal day. If someone backs in you'd see their plate 100%. Not a bad job for the price. And this system DOES support 1080P cameras, but I have not purchased any to test that function out, yet. I have also been informed by Annke that you can connect newer IP cameras to the system as well. Again, I have none to verify, but I did go through the setup in the menus and it seems very straight forward. 5Very Easy To Use.Love it. I bought this unit and installed it because im disabled and wanted to be able to see around the house instead of getting up every time the dogs barked. Had it up less than a week and caught video evidence of someone breaking into cars on my block. Great night vision and wonderful color. 5wonderful security camerasWe finished installing and setting this system today. I am very pleased with the end results. The night vision is better than I expected. The motion night light that is on the outside below the camera does not bother the night vision at all on the camera. Night pictures are in black and white but very clear. Street lights and porch lights don't bother the night pictures. The day time pictures are crystal clear and the pictures look like you are looking at the scene yourself and not through the lens of a camera. The motion detection seems to be working fine. I haven't seen anyone walking around to give an accurate account. The only tech support I have had with this company was before I purchased this system. When I asked a question I received an answer promptly even though I live on the east coast and I believe they are located on the west coast. But I did get answers to my questions. I am very pleased with this system and would recommend it. 5Fantastic systemThis review is for the Annke 8 channel 1080N/720P system with 4 AHD 720P bullet cameras with 1TB hard drive. I got a lot better system than I expected for the cost of $219.00. My system arrived in perfect shape with everything needed to install and setup included in the boxes, no items missing. The quality of this system is evident right from the beginning. The cameras are made of metal and the cables are of very good quality. The DVR is a very nice unit and looks very nice also. The instructions are easy to follow and easy to understand. This system is truly just plug and play. I ran the camera cables thru the attic and dropped them thru the ceiling in a corner of the room with the DVR. The cables are labeled on each end as being the DVR or camera end, so just pay attention and feed them the right way. When mounting the cameras, do use the included plastic inserts for the mounting screws, even when mounting on wood. These are not wood screws supplied and will be very hard to screw into wood with a risk of stripping the heads. Mark the screw holes where mounting the camera, then drill a 1/4" hole, even in wood, then tap the plastic insert in the predrilled 1/4" hole till flat with the surface. Now the screws will work as designed and be much easier to tighten and will hold the camera extremely tight. After I got all cameras and cables installed, 4 of each in this system, I simply connected the cables to the back of the VCR, connected to my network router with a CAT6 cable (not included), connected VCR to the monitor, (the monitor is not included with the system), plugged all into power and turned everything on. The unit booted up perfectly. I followed the on screen guide to setup my network and a couple other things. Very easy setup with no manual needed. I tweaked the output settings in the DVR to match my monitor and wow, what great pics and video this system has. I downloaded the XMEYE app to my Iphone, made my cloud account using the app, then just hit the search bar near bottom of app, and I now have remote veiwing of my cameras from anywhere. I put the app on another Iphone and an android tablet. Just log in with same username and password on new devices. No need to make new accounts for each device. I used my phone outside to aim and position all cameras while veiwing each live on the phone. I have, and still do, play with the settings for color, contrast, brightness, and so on, but the factory settings are pretty much spot on with maybe a little tweaking needed depending on where you mount the camera. I mounted all mine under the eaves and roof overhang as they look better in these areas and it helps keep them protected from the elements and rain doesn't affect the video. I love IR function that they switch to at night and back to color when enough light returns, all automatically. Your night vision with any camera depends on the camera location and any helper lights that may be around. My cameras have different quality for each during day and night. This is not a fault of the camera, but a fault of what they can and cannot accomplish because of where I have them mounted, and the available light, day or night, from natural or artificial light sources. For instance, my shaded front yard is always a little less quality than the back yard that has no shade during the day. But, the same front yard has better night quality because the IR lights actually reflect off the leaves which provides more light for better video. Color during day, black and white at night. Around my house, the motion detect feature works too well. This is another feature that can be on or off. The default is off. All my cameras are outside, among all the wildlife that we love so much, squirrels, birds, even neighbors pets, that keep motion detect very busy even on low sensitivity. I have motion detect activated only on one camera, but set to record all the time and only mark where it senses motion. I love the grid you get to customize for what spot or area the camera sees motion. This works very well. I have not tried the e-mail notifications yet and probably won't until and if I add an interior camera as that feature requires the use of the motion detect feature and I don't need a pic every 30 seconds of all the wildlife. All the other features of this system are all most people need. There are some finicky network systems out there that may have to be figured out to allow a network connection, but they are few and far between. That is going to happen with anything that needs a network connection. ANNKE customer service is great also. I had 1 camera that sometimes didn't know if it was day or night. It randomly switched back and forth during the middle of the day. Annke had contacted me first to check on my order to make sure I was happy with it, so I informed them that I was happy but had an annoying camera that was not performing as it should. They very promptly responded with an apology and a notice that they were sending me a new camera. I received the new one the next week. It's great to see a company that will stand behind their product like this one does. This is a fantastic system that is high quality from a great company. My daughter lives alone and I am trying to save enough money to get her a system just like mine. We absolutely love the system and the quality of the components and the video. I recommend this to anyone looking for security. 5Remember to use the sticker...annke 24 hours video surveillanceReasonable price and easy to install. 1 TB hard disk drive is already builder in(disregard the steps in user manual). That makes it easier to install. All your need is a monitor and place the camera. It is also easy to use(system build in with different languages).1080p display will show you clear live view of your house. It helps to prevent trespass and burglary. Price is affordable compare to hire a technician. You can finish all the work by yourself. Remember to use the sticker...annke 24 hours video surveillance 5Good Product but your on your own for Support.I might update this as I got but I am just giving you the lessons learned here.1. Support is overseas and most likely non english speaking folks. Their responses are sporadic and they do not elaborate. For example, my question- how do I set the password because "Null" password does not work. Response is "Just leave it blank. So now I have cameras recording and my device is on the internet and no password set.2. The cameras are not the best. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being HD I would say it is about a 6. For example- I might be able to record someone breaking in but I won't get a clear ID on the face.3. The motion sensor is going off like crazy so not sure what that is about. I have narrowed down the filed of view but still am getting constant emails for no reason.4. Emails- you can set up emails but a word of caution. If you get a message stating email login is not correct it is really your password. It implies that it is your email name or format but really it is a bad password.5. The GUI is a sort of a mess and not a lot of instruction on how to configure it. Your on your own here but you can work through it.6. Wiring is easy as you can not get it wrong. The connections only go one way. You will need to run all the camera to a central location and the DVR and power/plug need to be located ideally in the same spot.7. I have the DVR sitting on the Direct Tv bow and it gets hot. It also has a blinking orange light for the network so if you have it in a dark room it is distracting.8. Support is lacking but its made harder by overseas marketing. For example- the word Sannce doesn't really tie back to a webpage or a good support website. You search Cisco you get Cisco website. You search Linksys you get them as well. With these folks you get the Amazon website and even with the iPhone APP it is some weird name that doesn't tie to Sannce. Just seems to be confusing for now reason. Amazon has more info than any other place so read up. 4A nice upgrade to my 720p camerasI bought an 8 camera dvr that came with 4 cameras, intending to use some of my existing composite video cameras for the remaining 4 ports... Of course after a while with the 720 line cameras, I realized the old 480 line cameras were not very useful, so I have been aching for an upgrade. I looking at the options, and I saw this one was full HD, and it supported the three different standards for analog HD over coax, which is the common signal type for security DVR's. So this camera can use the same cabling as your older low resolution SD 480 line cameras, but it produces the full HD image for hd capable security DVRs. It has a pair of dip switches for selecting beteewn TVI, AHD, CVBS, and CVI. Keep in mind that these standards are analog, so the cable length and cable quality still have a big effect on the signal quality. The camera itself is digital, but the signals for the coax have to be analog for these standards.Comparing the 1080 camera to my existing 720 cameras, the differences are striking, as I have a much larger field of view with the new 1080 line camera. The older model C11N 720 line camers have a narrower field of view, so the ability to resolve details is about the same, but the 1080 has a much larger image. Both cameras have the same 3.6mm lens, but the camera chip on the new camera is larger, giving it a wider field of view from the same lens. So it is kind of hard to do too much of a side by side comparison, but the pixels seem to be about the same size, but now I can see the whole driveway with just one camera.I have some IP cameras I have been working with, and they perform very well, but you must run new cables, or depend on wifi for those to work. The big advantage of this model I am reviewing is I can just replace the existing cameras and not have to run new wires, and enjoy a big improvement, and they cost a lot less than IP cameras. I had a large number of IP cameras, and while I always like them in the begining, they ALL fail within 1 or 2 years, or they keep crashing. The standard cameras that run over coax tend to work forever, I have had zero failures with this camera type. The camera is of sturdy metal construction, just like my other Annke cameras. It comes with it's own swivel mount, with an allen wrench to tighten it once you have it in position. It also has a tripod thread mount you can use if you have an existing mount you want to reuse. The swivel comes right off using the included allen wrench. The metal case is well sealed, I've never had any of my Annke cameras leak or get internally fogged, like some of the cheaper cameras. So it should be very durable. The Annke night vision is superior to others I have used because the LED illuminators have their own glass. separated from the glass covering the lens. This is an important feature, because the other brands of night vision cameras I have tried have one glass covering the camera and LED's, which causes glare when in night mode. The other brands put a black ring behind the glass to block the glare, but the glass conducts the glare right past the ring. The Annke design cures this problem, and produces a clean and clear night vision performance. So once again, Annke has produced a nice, solid performing, affordable camera. It drops into an existing camera installation using the existing wire, and has modes to support the various standards for coax based security cameras, so it should work with most analog DVRs. Installing the cables can be the most expensive part of a security rollout, so it is nice that you can reused your existing infrastructure. Well done, Annke! 5
