Customer Reviews

Great Gloves! I bought these gloves for work. I use them for protection against cuts and splinters and also for extended periods in coolers and freezers. I was shocked that when I first used them in the freezer I had no numbness or loss of feeling in my fingers at all. I can be in the cooler for over an hour with the same effect. The insulation doesn't seem like much but it sure works. Also the protection is excellent though I wish they had a little bit more grip on them and the dexterity is excellent. I'm easily able to use a pen or pencil while wearing the gloves. The fit is great and the strap is well made , easy to use, and effective. It's not the first pair of Mechanix gloves I've had but it's by far the best. 5Disappointing Super disappointing product from mechanix. I like their regular mechanix gloves like the covert and i expected these to fit and work just as well while being warmer. But they are none of that. The material is stiff. Like leather after it gets wet and dries. This doesn't seem to break in. So all the seams are ridges which is a big problem at the figertips. instead of the end of my glove having a finger contour, it has a rectangular contour that crushes. It basically destroys any hope of retaining any dexterity and you might as well just get a ski glove because...These gloves are not warm at all. the material itself gets cold and stays cold. The strap doesn't have enough adjustment to close around the wrist so snow can easily get in there. The fit is really weird. I wear a medium in other mechanix gloves but these fit like a large while still being short on the wrists. I guess if you have really long fingers and really short palms they'll fit you great. But you with your orangutan hands probably hate gloves made for humans. If you're looking for a warmer version of non-insulated mechanix gloves, look elsewhere because these are not it. 1Solid medium weight gloves that provide a lot of dexterity I got these gloves to wear in the Philly winter for added dexterity over my denser winter gloves. My hands are roughly 8.5" from thumb to pinky outstreched, 3.75" across the palm and 7.5" from middle finger to base of palm. I like a very snug fit to have the most dexterity possible so I got these in a small. This is a nice medium weight glove for when there's a bit of a chill or if you're going to be outside and moving around enough to stay warm, but it doesn't have a ton of insulation. The closure is very solid with the plastic part running 2/3 around the wrist so there's no way it'll come apart at a weak point right at the opening. The little triangle tab meant to clip the two gloves together for safe keeping is annoyingly placed so it constantly gets in the way of the hook and loop closure. I'm debating cutting off, but it would be nice to keep the pair together in the off season. The palm isn't super grippy, but it provides a lot of dexterity. The thumb/index finger allow for smartphone usage.I'm a big fan of Mechanix gloves and have worn several pairs through the years for general warmth as well as their dedicated work gloves for demo and carpentry work. 4Great gloves with one exception I'm a mobile forklift technician by trade so I use these gloves almost daily during the winter months in PA. Forklifts don't always break indoors. I've been using this particular pair for a couple months now and find them well worth the money spent.I've used Mechanix Wear gloves in the past and really haven't had any issues. I see several reviews that complain about sizing issues, not sure what that is about because I had absolutely no problem with the sizing. I do however have a problem with the velcro strap that fastens the glove to your hand. It's not very good. I want to stress that I don't know if Mechanix Wear actually uses Velcro brand, but whatever they use isn't very good. After a couple weeks of wear the stickiness sort of wears off and the strap doesn't hold very well. Some great features of this glove is that they are very warm for the size of the glove. That is to say that the glove is thin in comparison to the warmth. I find them very warm, my hands don't get cold when working outside using these gloves and they are thin enough that I still have the feel in my fingers to handle small nuts and bolts. I was quite impressed with the warmth. When they arrived I figured they wouldn't be very warm because I noticed how thin they actually were for an insulated pair of gloves. If you work in Arctic conditions you may want to keep searching but I've used them in 20 and 30 degree weather and they are great. They also wear like iron. I'm constantly handling sharp objects and parts and haven't noticed a rip or tear in the gloves. I have some other Mechanix Wear products and they also wear great, these didn't disappoint. So overall here are my Pro's and Con's:Pro's:Thin enough to still have feeling in your fingers to handle small partsWarm enough to keep your hands warm on cold Northeast winter daysWear like iron, no rips or tears after several months and I use them almost dailyFit very wellPriced rightCon's:Strap that holds the glove around your wrist doesn't last long. The "stickiness" wears offOverall I would absolutely recommend these gloves for outdoor work of any kind. I'm very satisfied. The only reason for the four stars is due to the strap around the wrist not lasting very long. 4As of January 2019, still a little too tight. As others have noted, Mechanix apparently didn't take into consideration the extra lining in their design of this glove, as the fit is a bit tighter than their norm. I own at least 5 different styles of Mechanix gloves and this is the only glove of theirs that I've tried which fit inconsistently from their norm. I wear medium, which is still a size 9 on this glove. It's not a deal breaker though, unless the size your normally wear is already borderline too tight. For me their 9 fits pretty much perfect with all the other styles I've tried. With this style, there doesn't feel like theirs enough material between the thumb and index finger, as if I can't quite open my hand fully. But that's not a deal breaker.I'd probably try a size larger, if I bought them again. Which I probably won't, as all of Mechanix fabric palm gloves (including their 4x material models) don't have anywhere NEAR the grip of their genuine leather palm models. And despite the added layer(s) these, surprisingly, really don't feel that much warmer than their standard models. Due to the added wind/water resistance, this model shouldn't absorb moisture as easily though, which with regular Mechanix gloves, once they get wet in the winter, they're as good as useless. I'll probably try one of their warmer styles next, even if it is a little bulkier. 3What insulation?!?! I ordered these gloves to keep my hands warm, while walking the dog late at night. I've had Mechanix brand work gloves before, and had no problems. I normally wear either a medium or large in gloves, but ordered these in medium, since that was the size that had worked for me before in this brand. When they arrived today, I looked them over. The fit and finish seemed acceptable, but they seemed quite thin for insulated gloves. I actually did a double check, since they seemed so light weight. The packaging said "insulated", and "insulated" was clearly printed across the back of each glove. I just returned from a 2 hour walk with my dog, in 40 degree weather. These gloves did nothing for me. My hands were thoroughly chilled in just a few blocks. They were so bad that I actually removed one glove for about 4 blocks. At the end of that time, both of my hands were equally chilled. These things are about as insulated as my summer weight Ironclad work gloves.Looks like I bought some pricey gardening gloves..... 2Don't bother, akward fit and poor insulation. I wear the original mechanix gloves in size medium very often and have zero complaints with fit and function. With this insulated version the fingers are to long and skinny and make the glove very tight with too much extra room at the finger tips. Also the original version are actually warmer than this insulated version when worn in cold weather. 1Excellent gloves, durability issues with hard working conditions. Let me start off with my overall appraisal of these gloves: they're great! With that being said, they do have a few shortcoming as far as my particular needs, but you may find that they suit you perfectly as my situation isn't so common.I work in a cold storage food service supply warehouse, with temperatures ranging from around -10 F to about 50 F, and for most of that range, they perform excellently. They "fit like a glove" so to speak, I normally wear a large, so I ordered a large and the fit was excellent. Snug but not constricting, making it easy to use the touchscreen on my phone and RF scanner gun, as I keep most of my dexterity and precision. My gripes about this glove, and there really isn't any way around some of these, are as follows:Insulation is a bit thin, and in the really cold temps it almost seems like nothing is there, especially if my hands are anything but bone dry. I understand that insulation adds bulk and therefore reduces dexterity and adds weight, but I would trade off a bit for some higher performance insulation. My biggest, and perhaps most easily remidied issue is this: the durability is not what I expected from a company that prides itself on making utility clothing for working hands-on professionals. My job entails working with my hands the entire time I am there, picking orders, moving cardboard and plastic boxes, bags, operating electric pallet movers and forklifts, and I have already work through the fingertips on two pairs of these gloves, one original and one fastfit. Once they're worn through, they're basically useless because there is nothing between your skin and the air, and the underlying material that shows through in some cases does not function with a touchscreen. I would absolutely love these gloves if they could stand up to even a bit more use before wearing out. I see people leave reviews saying "they lasted me two winters worth of outdoor work!" If that's the case, outdoor work must be shoveling snow and getting the mail, because after wearing through 2 pair's fingertips in about a month, I can say for sure that they don't stand up to actual working conditions. Until I find a better solution, I will keep buying these cheaply from Amazon Warehouse, as they're the best option I have found so far, and I would rather use something that works for my needs, but needs to be replaced more often, than use something that doesn't work for me but lasts longer. Just a personal preference. 4Decent for keeping hand dry & warm for short periods Got these gloves for wheeling in the winter. The gloves keep your hands dry & reasonably warm when airing down/up or pulling cable in the snow/icy mud. Haven't worked on any repairs while wearing this, so can't comment on how they work for handling tools etc.. They are obviously bulkier than regular Mechanix gloves but still allow decent dexterity. My hands start getting cold if I'm outside for any prolonged period of time. But for the purpose of keeping my hands dry from the snow/ice & decently warm, its great. Would have given it 5stars if it was warmer. However, I'd rather it be a bid cold than lose more dexterity. 4No touch and wind cuts right through. I bought these gloves because my standard yellow Mechanix gloves do not work with my phone and are not warm in the cold weather. Unfortunately these gloves are the same. The touch only works when you press so hard the screen distorts and the wind cuts right through the glove material. I wore these outside at work for 5 minutes in 36 F weather before my hands started to get cold. The packaging card these came on mentions nothing about touch screen use or wind resistance. The Amazon description does not match the product I received. I wish I had read the packaging materials before using these gloves. I am extremely disappointed with the product I received. I have loved the other Mechanix gloves I have owned but these have soured my taste for the company. I only wanted dexterous winter gloves with touch screen ability but these are not what they promise. 2
