Good Feature Set, Easy to UseI bought this calculator for basic imperial (foot/inch) measurement system entry and math, including fractions, but have found that it excels in the feature set it offers - including circle, arc, area, volume, and right angle calculations. It also has a good conversion capability from imperial measurements to metric.The calculations used by the built-in keys (e.g., for stairs, rafters, blocks, compound miter cuts, etc.) use common-sense default values - like 16" OC stud spacing, 6'8" stairway headroom, 16" blocks, 7 1/2" stair risers, etc. - but can be easily changed with a couple of simple keystrokes.I found the built-in calcs very easy to learn and use. A lot of the dedicated function keys give you the results you want by just pushing the button more than once. Enter run and rise, for example, then push "DIAG" and it shows you the diagonal. Another push of "DIAG" gives you the plumb cut, and a third press gives you the level cut. Enter a circle diameter into "CIRC" and a press gives you area and a second press circumference. The rafter and jack calculations are particularly impressive, as successive presses give you the lengths of the entire series for the run, plus hip and valley lengths and bevels, all without entering any additional information.The calculator is very flexible - you can enter values in any unit. Pitch, for example, can be entered in feet, inches per foot, degrees in two different formats, and so on. You can solve for missing values. Using pitch as an example again, if you enter pitch in degrees, along with the run, a press of "RISE" will solve for the rise.The calculator itself is feather-weight, but appears to be made of a tough plastic. A slide-on cover is included, by the way - I didn't see the need to buy the flip-open optional cover. Whoever designed this calculator thought it out. There is actually storage for the printed pocket guide in the form of a built-in pocket on the back of the calculator. The slide-on cover also has basic instructions and a list of the default calculation values printed on it.My only real complaint is that the printing above the keys for alternate functions accessed by the "CONV" and "STOR" key are light and hard to read. No problem in daylight, but indoor lighting makes it hard to read them. The keys themselves are good-sized, have a slightly rubbery texture, and have a good feel to them. The display is easy to read.This is an excellent calculator, and it should satisfy anyone for virtually all routine carpentry, woodworking, and cabinetmaking needs. I went back and forth a few time trying to decide between this model and the trig model, but this one has some built in calcs the trig model does not have, and I've found that this model's right triangle, circle/arc, and degree entry capabilities meet my geometric needs.Amazon had the best price on this calculator that I'd seen to-date at the time I bought it. 5Nice tool, takes up some real estate.I'm a fabricator and the construction master pro calcs have been staples in the toolboxes of the guys in the shop for years so when I learned that they made this I had to try one. This does all the things that the smaller calculators do and give even easier access to trig functions so it's a win win for functionality. I like the book that is included, it's a little clearer than the little booklet that comes with the other calculators in their line, it is more expansive and clearer which makes getting the most out of the calc easier for those functions you don't use all the time. It's big! I actually wish it was about a third smaller than it is for use on the shop floor but if you actually use it on a desk like it's supposed to be or have eyes with some years on them then it will probably be right up your alley. 5Finally thought I better buy one for some more complicated calculations for a ...I've held out on buying a construction calculator for the longest time. It's been so much easier using this little guy as opposed to my iPhone calculator or even trying some of the apps. 44065 Construction MasterI was all set to love this calculator until I discovered it doesn't calculate rafter tail length. Then I found that the 4067 model does calculate total rafter length including the rafter tail. I returned this item and intend to purchase the 4067 model in the near future. Excepting for not calculating total rafter length, this calculator is very, very helpful. 4As a professional estimator I rate this calculator as a ...As a professional estimator I rate this calculator as a must have item. Figuring stair risers, roof pitch, jack rafters, concrete volume all became so much easier and faster. I am able to provide accurate answers to customers in an instant. 5Good program, some issuesI love Calculated industries measure master pro hand held calculator and the software version has worked identical to my hand held and is one less item i need to take with me when i am on the go. There are a couple of draw backs however: 1. With win XP & Win 7 if you have your computer connected to more than one monitor you must open and close the virtual calculator on your home desk top screen, ( the one listed as monitor #1) If you close the calculator window on one of the other screens the program errors out and becomes dysfunctional from then on. To fix it has to be uninstalled and re installed or use system restore. Also the older installation software for the program must be installed directly from the disk, cannot be moved to a flash drive or hard drive. 4Must have for wood workers.Love this calculator. I do a lot of wood working as a hobby. Any woodworker knows that the key to good fractions and knowing a little geometry like rise over run. For so many years I would have to break down fractions into decimals to use them on my calculator then turn that decimal back into a fraction that I can actually use on my measuring tools. Its a time consuming pain in the tail. One day a came across a calculator app that allowed for calculating fractions directly. That worked for a little while, but using a phone as a calculator is tedious, the phone gets all dusty which Im sure voids the warranty, and I was still calculating angles on paper. So I did some soul searching online and came across these. Next to my 3hp cabinet saw. This is my favorite and one of my most used tools in the shop. Being able to do everything on the calculator makes my time in the shop much more enjoyable and it makes projects go a lot faster. I know these calculators have many uses, but I highly recommend it to any advanced wood worker. 5Can't get any better!Great calculator, can't do my job without it! What is lacking, for me, first and foremost, is button accuracy. Sitting flat on my drawing table, with nothing to absorb my presses, I get missed key presses far too often. I am used to blind entry on a 10 key numeric keypad, and my old Construction Master made it 25 years before it was time to let it go. I have had this one less than a year, and it is not wearing out. It has been that way since out of the box. So I lose time watching every key press, every single time. That extends bid time out a good bit when adding up a large project. And I am still not 100% comfortable with my numbers a lot of the time. A lot of double and triple checking myself to make sure what my fingers felt is what went into the equation.Second thing, for me, is even with the adjustable angle readout, I get a glare most times and have to move it around to get just the right lack of reflection on the readout. Seems to me a slightly matte finish that doesn't bounce light so hard might be better, but I am not about to scuff up the screen.As for the function and accuracy, as long as the keys record my input correctly, you can beat this one! Everything else about the desktop model is great. Unfortunately I am dealing with Engineering drawings scaled in metric measurements and I needed a MM key .Had to dig out my trusty pocket calculator for the task I had doing footage quantities and takeoffs for my job. Smaller keys made the job harder to perform. 4
