Customer Reviews

Having fun experimenting. Have not quite gotten the accuracy I want yet and am playing with transducer placement. But I enjoy using this on my cell phone and not having to install a full fish finder unit in limited space. I also love having my cell phone do multiple duty and enjoy the Navionics interface at a great price. For my purposes, I will keep trying to tweak inside the hull placement as I do have an accurate, non-fish-finding through-hull,l simple, depth finder. I may eventually try the transom mount as I don't want to put another hole in my boat.. 4Coolest portable fish finder ever This thing is am amazing. Had me and 4 friends on my fishing boat. Each person was able to connect their phones to the t box and see fish and bottom structure. We caught our limits that day and had a blast. It was easy to set up, and works great on your tablet with navionics split screen mode. More affordable than most color screen fish finder if you already have a capable device. 5Chasing the gain setting. Cool gadget factor, but I hate having to adjust the gain all the time. Too much power on the gain and you get feedback and scatter on the returns. Too low gain and you get nothing on the screens. Maybe there is an "auto" feature I'm missing. 3Super unit! Perfect fit in my 17 Boston Whaler. Pair this with a 7" Nexus tablet for under $200, add Navionics, and you have an amazing chart plotter/Sounder combo for under $400. Can't beat it. The sonar charts feature is awesome, and the sonar itself works quite well. I hold bottom when running 25 kts, and the detail is impressive for such a compact unit. It's not a $1000 Airmar unit hooked up to a $4500 MFD, but its not supposed to be. For what it's designed for, it's great. 5It was easy to install and now I don't have to keep ... It was easy to install and now I don't have to keep telling everyone in the boat what the depth is. It does a good job of showing structure and is pretty detailed. Concerns: I am worried that I will either forget to shut it off when I am done fishing or if it gets bumped it will turn on. I found it on in my boat after doing some moving of items (button got bumped). I also have to remember to shut it off each time I am getting out of the boat or it will keep going even when no smartphones are connected. Overall: It is a great concept and a cheap alternative to use with my ipad and smartphones compared to more expensive fish finders. I also like the simplicity of the unit. I find myself comparing it to my $600 fish finder and it is just about as good. Great idea and I would buy again. Have recommended it to friends also. 4I absolutely love this device I absolutely love this device. You mount the traditional transducer on your boat below the water line, you plug it into power in and it offers it's own Wi-Fi signal. You can use it with tablets phones anything that attaches the Wi-Fi and can download the free app. Very responsive. Does not work over 10 miles an hour though, but if you're trolling very effective. 5Good so far! Just installed, design and integration into Navionics Boating app very good. Installation transmitting through hull of sailboat, limited testing in open water so far. Initial difficulties so far not with device but with host phone attempting to switch away from wi-fi to internet. 5Great Chartplotter; OK Fishfinder A really good piece of hardware. As a fishfinder its ok -- the traditional fishfinder is fairly obsolete these days though. What I really need from a fishfinder is depth, however, as I routinely boat in extremely shallow water. It does depth just fine. For some reason the temperature never worked. If you want to do fishing, you'll probably want a DI system at least. As a chartplotter it is outstanding. The Navionics integration is a bit touchy but it is the only way to get into SonarCharts for less than a grand. Making your own chart is awesome, especially since where I boat the charts are just plain wrong (when you see a big boat in a very bad place you know they're using the 30 year old charts). For those worried about powering it on and off (which is pretty annoying -- mounted under my dash) run the power line to a switch on the dashboard. The screen is a bit tricky. I mainly used my iPhone with the arm band, which sucks a lot of juice. For next year I'm going to get a dedicated ipad mini, a waterproof case, and a RAM mount.Unfortunately this is not family-friendly. Unable to teach my wife or father-in-law how to use it, so they use the traditional fishfinder for depth. 4Good depth sounder on a sailboat and works well I purchased and installed this on a twenty year old, 25' sailboat (Com-Pac 25) to replace the failed analog depth sounder. I use the fish finder as a depth sounder with the Navoinic app on my 10" Android pad. I did install a 12v plug to power the pad and have a mounting bracket for the pad on the helm, but I only need that if I am sailing for more than a couple of hours. The fish finder is hardwired to a 12v switch on the boat and the sending unit is epoxied to the hull below the v-berth in the bow. Installation was fairly easy, and I have been very satisfied with the performance of the product. One nice feature about this set up, is I can upgrade or change my navigation app or device and simply link to the wifi signal produced by the fish finder. I know replacing the analog depth sounder may have been less expensive, but this set up gives me digital depth sounder with GPS navagation on my android pad and is more 2015 technology, than 1995. 5Excellent product Put this on my Waverunner so I see the depth thru the hull. Works great, turn it on and start Sonar Pro app on your phone and off you go no longer worrying if you ll run aground. Also works with my Navionics app on my iPhone so I can maps and depth at the same time. Awesome! 5
