Customer Reviews

Great service. I installed the card on an unlocked ...Great service. I installed the card on an unlocked iPhone in the US the day before my trip to Europe. Immediately the phone connected to the 4g at&t network and it was ready. When I arrived in Europe, the phone connected right away to 4g at the Frankfurt airport. Traveled for 2 weeks to 7 countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Nederlands and Belgium) and I was able to connect to decent 4g speed networks on every single country. Upon arrival at each country you get a text message from Three confirming service is available in that country. I did not use the minutes or the texting since I communicated with my family back in the US via internet using Skype, WhatsApp, and even FaceTime. The 9 gigs of data were more than enough for the entire trip. I did not have to activate the card in the UK first, it worked fine in the US first, then in Europe then back in the US. I highly recommend this card, it s the best bang for your buck. 5Works if you follow simple instructions! These SIM cards worked perfectly for our trip to Northern Ireland! The key to these working properly is to follow these steps:1. Unlock your phone if it hasn't been done yet. Both mine and my husband's was locked to At&t. I contacted them and within 48 hours both phones were unlocked. That's right, it took 48 hours. You have to give the carrier time, so do it ahead of time before your trip.2. Once unlocked, swap your old SIM with the new one by Three (I did this while still in the USA- 2 days before vacation). Follow their instructions by visiting the website (link is provided on the card your SIM was attached to). You will be asked to go to their website to sync your phone with the SIM card. The timing of this varies. My phone synced within 1 minute and was confirmed via text. My husband's took closer to 3 hours. I was told by a chat rep that it can take as long as 4 hours, so be prepared to wait. Do this during a time when you don't need your phone (the SIM card must remain in the phone until finished - Do not remove it or turn your phone off until you receive the text to confirm it's done).3. (Optional) Download the Three app if you wish. You can monitor your usage, add extra gigs, etc. Personally I did not bother since we were only in Northern Ireland for a week, but it's nice to know the option was there.4. (Optional) You CAN make long distance calls. To do so, write this number down and keep it somewhere safe:-Dial 07755 545454 and wait for the automated voice.- Dial 00-Dial country code (for USA the number is 1)- Dial the number you wish to call.I followed the above instructions and was able to call the USA no problem. It was free and connection was clear as could be!Overall this SIM works as advertised! The key is to follow instructions, and it'll work for you too. The 12 gigs was far more than enough for our 1 week vacation. I was able to stream 5 hours of Netflix, go on Facebook, l watch YouTube, etc with only 3 gigs of usage by the end of the week. 5Pretty DecentThe price for the amount of data was good. I didn t have to go through any web registration or the like. Just installed in my unlocked iPhone 6s+ before departing Los Angeles (getting T-Mobile here) for Ireland. I got status texts periodically, some of which were cryptic and seemed to suggest I needed to top up when I still had 90% if my data left. I ignored them and service continued fine. I never used the phone number but it was nice to know I could. Data service throughput was consistently mediocre. Coverage was pretty good. I had my second phone on an att international roaming plan and got vodaphone which was almost always better signal and throughput. All in all this card worked and was pretty hassle free.Travelled from Dublin and Powerscourt through Dromoland and on to Killarney, Kenmare, Shannon and other spots. Pretty much always had service on both phones. A few dead spots, which affected both carriers about the same. 3UNABLE TO ACTIVATE after 24 hours. Server issueWill update if this works. But as of now: Unable to activate. unlocked samsung, put in card and got this msg: "Please keep your phone on while we connect you to three....it'll take about 30 minutes...we'll text you when it's done." Well it's been 24 hours and no connection!Did online chat with customer service rep, was told there's something wrong with US server, no idea when it'd be fixed. We are leaving tomorrow, so will see if this works in Europe, if not will definitely ask for a refund. Poor service and extremely frustrating!!! What kind of company could allow server be down for 24 hours??? 1Utter Trash (didn't work in any of 3 countries)TL;DR: you may not get your full balance, you won't be able to see your usage, customer service may not follow through on its promises, and if you're going anywhere other than the UK and you feel like the path of least resistance would be to give in and top up? You'll have to find a third-party online seller because Three won't even sell to you if you don't have a UK credit card. But hey: even when you're in the UK, the service sucks!I bought this ahead of a one week trip to Europe having a layover at Heathrow on the way to Paris, then staying in London on the way home. A UK card made the most sense because my English is much better than my French and I'd have time to get it set up and worked out during my brief layover.And... it worked as it should! A woman at one of the travel shops popped my SIM card out, I put the Three card in, and in a moment I was up and running with a few text messages about my account credit.Land in Paris, and everything looks good. Get a few advisory texts about roaming costs, and service is spotty on the RER into the city, but that's not really where I need service.I arrive at my flat and my host is late, so I walk around to run a few basic settling-in errands (cash, a micro-USB cable). Service isn't great but I'm able to get walking directions and find my way around. 10 minutes later, I see a bakery and think it'd be cute to get a baguette, so I pull out my phone to look for reviews and... nothing. I can register on a couple of different French networks, get what appears to be full signal, but have no data access (on a 12GB plan activated 4-ish hours earlier).I have to walk all the way back to the RER station to find free Wifi to reconnect with my host and arrange to check in. I make a My3 account and am told I have no remaining balance but can't get usage details. By this time, their phone support is closed for the day (Sunday) so I get on with my evening plans via online maps and some overpriced wifi hotspots. When I get home, I contact their chat support. They won't acknowledge that they failed to give me the 12GB that I'd paid for, but after about 40 minutes, they offer as a "one-time courtesy" to credit me that same balance and that I should receive a text message confirming in 15 more minutes. It's 11pm on my inbound day so I fall asleep without waiting, the text never arrives, and my phone status is unchanged in the morning. I end up walking around for more than an hour to find a mobile shop and end up buying a Lycamobile SIM that gives me data access in France. When I arrive in the UK a few days later, there's a Three shop right by my flat, so I go there as soon as I've dropped my bags off. The woman behind the counter tells me that they've had a batch of faulty SIM cards and that I'm the third such person to come in that day (~3pm on a Wednesday). She gives me a new SIM card, and... no. She can't see my customer record--either what happened to the initial balance or that I was promised a credit, so we call customer service. 20 minutes after I walk into the store, I have what I paid for.The joke? Three's service in London sucks. It was 1 bar of H+ at the shop (the clerk confirmed that it was a bad location) and absolutely nothing at Wembley--Three will roam in Europe but not in the UK, it seems. I would have done better to keep my Lycamobile card, but after I got back from Wembley, it would have been more annoying to find a pin to swap the SIM than to stick with what I had.Lastly! I'd lost my US SIM at some point during my trip, but worry not--I had a SIM card with a high data balance and roaming! And sure enough, when I land, I can get decent H+(2/3g) data back in the US to stay entertained while I get home. But, HILARIOUSLY, when I get off the light rail and try to make a phone call on my walk to the T-Mobile shop on my way home? I can't, and get a text message about topping up. I log back into My3 and take the screenshot above--3000 minutes and I can't use a single one.The lesson? Not Three, not ever. The next time I go to the UK, I'll wait until I get into town, go to an EE and have them activate the card onsite. The next time I go anywhere else, I'm not sure what I'll do (French provider shops, for instance, don't sell or support their prepaid cards), but this card was trash and that's where it's going. 1Spotty connection with varying speeds, but works very well and highly affordableNormally, I don't like reviewing well-reviewed products, but I made an exception in this case because I noticed reviews lack mention of specifics on speed instead only specifying '3G' and '4G/LTE' then mentioning vague terms. Furthermore, I thought extra reviews could help here because there's so many countries in Europe and the SIM could work differently elsewhere.Alright, so here's my review of using this SIM for a week in Paris, France.First off, activating the SIM is extremely easy.. I activated the SIM two days prior to my flight. After popping the SIM in, it took roughly five minutes for the network to connect, but, once done so, I received a confirmation text. Once I landed in France, I did the same thing as well (making sure I turn data roaming on in the settings) and it worked just as well. Basically plug and play.Checking balance is also fairly simple. I couldn't download the app (it states not available in my country), but I could check it through calling by dialing '333' the listening to the message.Alright, so it gets an A for ease of use, but how well does it actually work? I can't comment on the calling or texting as I did not use those at all, but data worked 90% of the time. However, it cuts off in certain places (in open space too) and connections can sometimes be slow. You get an HSDPA (3.5G) connection in Paris, but the speed is not consistent. I tested the speed throughout the week I was there and the best I managed to get was 16Mbps. This is a very respectable speed and will work well for almost anything, including Youtube. However, note that this was the *best* I got. The worst I got fell under 1Mbps. On average, however, my speeds hovered about 2-3Mbps.In short, browsing websites, using GPS, Facebook, and playing games will work very well. I was also able to make data calls without too much issues (though the connection can get weak and delay responses). However, streaming videos is going to be very difficult. The SIM advertises against streaming anyway, however, so one can't be upset about that.Overall, I highly recommend this SIM. It is very easy to use, it comes with plenty of data, and it has minutes/text in case you can use it. For the price you're paying ($30), it's a damn near unbeatable deal. 4Awesome way to use your phone unrestricted in EuropeThis was awesome for traveling around Europe coming from the US. I was nervous to purchase this due to the reviews, but I'm so glad I just went ahead and purchased it. My girlfriend and I both used one these sim cards for 2 weeks while traveling in Europe and saved us both $$$ while traveling abroad and being able to navigate using Google maps while driving through Spain helped us tremendously. Here are some key things to help you decide if this option is right for you.1. Is your iPhone/ phone unlocked? My gf and I both had unlocked iPhones. I have Verizon so I had no troubles just switching SIM cards. However, my gf has AT&T and she had to reach out to AT&T to unlock her iPhone (if you have a payment installment plan on your iPhone for at&T you have paid off our phone in order for it to be unlocked)2. You have to be in the UK first. You have to be going to England first to activate the SIM (aka putting it in your phone and turning it on)... This is because it's UK SIM card and when you are going to other countries you are technically roaming. You can call others countries too in the EU.. We thought we could only call UK numbers but we were able to call numbers in Spain as well.. It just "costs" more to do so.. 3 pence/ min out of your 20 pound credit. We made several calls and never came close to using up or data or line of credit.3. Activating.. Verizon phone activated much easier than AT&T iPhone. For her phone she had to be on Wifi and activate, where I just put my SIM card in the airport and was up and running within 10 mins.4. New SIM means new phone numbers.. So we had UK phone numbers, but through iMessage we were still able to text everyone at home who has an iPhone.Overall, essential if you want to go overseas and use your phone as you do here. Highly recommend 5How to Check Remaining Balance or Usage After Activating Your SIM CardPrePaid Europe (UK THREE) sim card 12GB data+3000 minutes+3000 texts for 30 days with FREE ROAMING / USE in 71 destinations including all European countriesI've just returned from my trip to London & Paris (July-2018), and here is "MY" way of checking remaining allowances (data, voice, & text) from my UK Three SIM account. If you don't want the hassle of registering any of your info like me, [Option 1]: Like others had mentioned / answered, simply dial 333 and choose option 3. You can do that AFTER you activated your SIM and you don't need to be in UK, because you can activate your SIM Card a few days before your actual trip here in the US (I did). As for the "444" # (as of July-2018), use that if you want to "top-up" (purchase top-up vouchers from many of "convenience stores" in UK or online before your trip). The top-up balance is basically enable you dial DIRECTLY back to US without using Apps like WhatsApp, Skype, etc.. I found that I often need to call back to US, but some #s are not / will not be in your contacts, and cause quite a hassle. So I will definitely suggest topping up with few dollars if you can. The top-up minimum I found was $5, but if can find places where you can top-up ANY amount that's even better, because you probably won't use the whole $5 balance from your trip (unless you staying aboard for a month+) {3p/minute, 2p/text/, & 1p/MB}.[Option 2]: Before my trip, I had downloaded the "UK Three App" (I am using Android BTW). It's an "OFF-US-Google-Play-Store" app. Because the "UK Three App" is ONLY available in the "UK Google Play Store". You can't download it EVEN if you are actually in UK, because your google account is tied to the US-Play-Store. So just google "UK three app apk", download it, transfer & install it on your android phone. Once you are on their network (activated sim in your phone of course), you can open the app and it should able to detect your SIM and showed your account / phone # AND the remaining balance of all of your data, voice minutes, and text. That's all to it !! 5Worked Perfectly on my Verizon iPhoneBought these for two Verizon iPhone 7s. They worked like a Charm and were way less expensive than adding a few days of International to my Verizon. When we arrived in Heathrow, we made our way to ground transport and installed the sims. All we did was turn the phone off, use a paperclip to pop out the Verizon SIM, and then pop in the Three SIM. We powered the phone back on, and within a minute we had received a text stating the SIM was initializing, and shortly after a text asking us to restart the phone. Upon restarting, a text arrived stating everything was working. It was!The SIM does come with Tethering, but I could not figure out how to tether over WIFI even though my iPad could see the phone. I could select the phone on my iPad, but would get a connection failed error instead of the password request. I was, however, able to get the tethering working over Bluetooth for the odd occasion when I needed my iPad and did not have wifi. I have no experience with tethering, so was unsure what was going on.Over the space of 17 days of normal use (for me) I think I got through about 5GB of data. I hardly used any phone minutes or texts because most of the time I was using Apple Messages.Interestingly, when I got back to Minneapolis and pulled the phone out once we had cleared customs I noticed that the phone was picking up T-Mobile and that a message had come in stating I could use the sim "internationally" and what Three Mobile's rates were. I did not bother testing it because I just popped out the Three Mobile SIM, Popped in my Verizon SIM, restarted the phone and I was instantly back to Verizon.I did see these SIMS in a SIM dispenser in the Heathrow Central Bus Station and noticed the prices were not unreasonable over there, but I calculated that I did save buying them before leaving. The SIM dispenser had a lot of choices from different mobile companies, but the Three Mobile SIM definitely seemed like the best value if Data is important to you.Overall, this was a great experience and I would recommend this SIM to anyone with an unlocked phone. Verizon is always unlocked, but I do not know about other US mobile companies. Apparently, you can check by taking the sim out and looking whether your carrier is still listed in the Cellular preference, but you are better off reading about that on Google! 5Mine worked fine when we arrivedLast year we waited until we arrived in Edinburgh and went to the 3 Store to purchase two cards. Used them for three weeks with no problems. The store is conveniently located in the center city. This year we ordered these to save time. Not so much. Mine worked fine when we arrived. However my husband got a message saying there was a problem with his card and that he needed to go to a 3 Store to have it resolved. So much for these cards working 100% of the time. So, jet lagged as we were, we headed to the 3 Store in a mall not too far from the airport. As always the 3 employee was friendly, kind and helpful. He replaced the card free of charge in spite of our purchasing it from a third party. His phone worked perfectly for the remainder of the trip. The next day I received a message saying I had to top up my account. I'd made one brief phone call and went on line for a short time. Off to a 3 Store in another suburb.I wish we'd waited until our arrival and taken the phones to the 3 Store. 1
